1 N ow Boaz went up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the near kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.

Y Booz subió a la puerta y allí se sentó, y he aquí que el pariente más cercano de quien Booz había hablado iba pasando, y le dijo: Eh, tú, ven acá y siéntate. Y él vino y se sentó.

2 A nd he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

Y Booz tomó diez hombres de los ancianos de la ciudad, y les dijo: Sentaos aquí. Y ellos se sentaron.

3 A nd he said unto the near kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth the parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:

Entonces dijo al pariente más cercano: Noemí, que volvió de la tierra de Moab, tiene que vender la parte de la tierra que pertenecía a nuestro hermano Elimelec.

4 A nd I thought to disclose it unto thee, saying, Buy it before them that sit here, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know; for there is none to redeem it besides thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

Y pensé informarte, diciéndo te: “Cómpra la en presencia de los que están aquí sentados, y en presencia de los ancianos de mi pueblo. Si la vas a redimir, redíme la; y si no, díme lo para que yo lo sepa; porque no hay otro aparte de ti que la redima, y yo después de ti.” Y él dijo: La redimiré.

5 T hen said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

Entonces Booz dijo: El día que compres el campo de manos de Noemí, debes adquirir también a Rut la moabita, viuda del difunto, a fin de conservar el nombre del difunto en su heredad.

6 A nd the near kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: take thou my right of redemption on thee; for I cannot redeem it.

Y el pariente más cercano respondió: No puedo redimir la para mí mismo, no sea que perjudique mi heredad. Redíme la para ti; usa tú mi derecho de redención, pues yo no puedo redimir la.

7 N ow this was the custom in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning exchanging, to confirm all things: a man drew off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbor; and this was the manner of attestation in Israel.

Y la costumbre en tiempos pasados en Israel tocante a la redención y el intercambio de tierras para confirmar cualquier asunto era ésta: uno se quitaba la sandalia y se la daba al otro; y esta era la manera de confirmar en Israel.

8 S o the near kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thyself. And he drew off his shoe.

El pariente más cercano dijo a Booz: Cómpra la para ti. Y se quitó la sandalia.

9 A nd Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.

Entonces Booz dijo a los ancianos y a todo el pueblo: Vosotros sois testigos hoy que he comprado de la mano de Noemí todo lo que pertenecía a Elimelec y todo lo que pertenecía a Quelión y a Mahlón.

10 M oreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

Además, he adquirido a Rut la moabita, la viuda de Mahlón, para que sea mi mujer a fin de preservar el nombre del difunto en su heredad, para que el nombre del difunto no sea cortado de sus hermanos, ni del atrio de su lugar de nacimiento; vosotros sois testigos hoy.

11 A nd all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. Jehovah make the woman that is come into thy house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephrathah, and be famous in Bethlehem:

Y todo el pueblo que estaba en el atrio, y los ancianos, dijeron: Testigos somos. Haga el Señor a la mujer que entra en tu casa como a Raquel y a Lea, las cuales edificaron la casa de Israel; y que tú adquieras riquezas en Efrata y seas célebre en Belén.

12 a nd let thy house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which Jehovah shall give thee of this young woman.

Además, sea tu casa como la casa de Fares, el que Tamar dio a luz a Judá, por medio de la descendencia que el Señor te dará de esta joven. Booz se casa con Rut

13 S o Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife; and he went in unto her, and Jehovah gave her conception, and she bare a son.

Booz tomó a Rut y ella fue su mujer, y se llegó a ella. Y el Señor hizo que concibiera, y ella dio a luz un hijo.

14 A nd the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be Jehovah, who hath not left thee this day without a near kinsman; and let his name be famous in Israel.

Entonces las mujeres dijeron a Noemí: Bendito sea el Señor que no te ha dejado hoy sin redentor; que su nombre sea célebre en Israel.

15 A nd he shall be unto thee a restorer of life, and a nourisher of thine old age, for thy daughter-in-law, who loveth thee, who is better to thee than seven sons, hath borne him.

Sea él también para ti restaurador de tu vida y sustentador de tu vejez; porque tu nuera, que te ama y es de más valor para ti que siete hijos, le ha dado a luz.

16 A nd Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.

Entonces Noemí tomó al niño, lo puso en su regazo y fue su nodriza.

17 A nd the women her neighbors gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

Y las mujeres vecinas le dieron un nombre, diciendo: Le ha nacido un hijo a Noemí. Y lo llamaron Obed. El es el padre de Isaí, padre de David.

18 N ow these are the generations of Perez: Perez begat Hezron,

Estas son las generaciones de Fares: Fares engendró a Hezrón,

19 a nd Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,

Hezrón engendró a Ram, Ram engendró a Aminadab,

20 a nd Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

Aminadab engendró a Naasón, Naasón engendró a Salmón,

21 a nd Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

Salmón engendró a Booz, Booz engendró a Obed,

22 a nd Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

Obed engendró a Isaí e Isaí engendró a David.
