1 C ome near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye peoples: let the earth hear, and the fulness thereof; the world, and all things that come forth from it.

Acercaos, naciones, para oír, y escuchad, pueblos; oiga la tierra y cuanto hay en ella, el mundo y todo lo que de él brota.

2 F or Jehovah hath indignation against all the nations, and wrath against all their host: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.

Porque el enojo del Señor es contra todas las naciones, y su furor contra todos sus ejércitos; las ha destruido por completo, las ha entregado a la matanza.

3 T heir slain also shall be cast out, and the stench of their dead bodies shall come up; and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

Sus muertos serán arrojados, y de sus cadáveres subirá el hedor, y las montañas serán empapadas con su sangre.

4 A nd all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fade away, as the leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as a fading leaf from the fig-tree.

Todo el ejército de los cielos se consumirá, y los cielos se enrollarán como un pergamino; también todos sus ejércitos se marchitarán como se marchita la hoja de la vid, o como se marchita la de la higuera.

5 F or my sword hath drunk its fill in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

Porque mi espada está embriagada en el cielo, he aquí, descenderá para hacer juicio sobre Edom y sobre el pueblo que yo he dedicado a la destrucción.

6 T he sword of Jehovah is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams; for Jehovah hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

La espada del Señor está llena de sangre, está llena de sebo, de la sangre de corderos y de machos cabríos, de sebo de los riñones de carneros; porque el Señor tiene un sacrificio en Bosra, y una gran matanza en la tierra de Edom.

7 A nd the wild-oxen shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls: and their land shall be drunken with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.

Con ellos caerán búfalos y novillos juntamente con toros; así su tierra se embriagará de sangre, y su polvo será engrasado de sebo.

8 F or Jehovah hath a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

Porque es día de venganza del Señor, año de retribución para la causa de Sion.

9 A nd the streams of Edom shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.

Sus torrentes se convertirán en brea, su polvo en azufre, y su tierra será brea ardiente.

10 I t shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever; from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

No se apagará ni de noche ni de día, su humo subirá para siempre; de generación en generación permanecerá desolada, nunca jamás pasará nadie por ella.

11 B ut the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it; and the owl and the raven shall dwell therein: and he will stretch over it the line of confusion, and the plummet of emptiness.

Mas el pelícano y el erizo la poseerán, el búho y el cuervo habitarán en ella; Dios extenderá sobre ella el cordel de desolación y la plomada del vacío.

12 T hey shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there; and all its princes shall be nothing.

Sus nobles (y allí no hay ninguno a quien puedan proclamar rey) y todos sus príncipes serán nada.

13 A nd thorns shall come up in its palaces, nettles and thistles in the fortresses thereof; and it shall be a habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches.

Espinos crecerán en sus palacios, ortigas y cardos en sus ciudades fortificadas; será también guarida de chacales y morada de crías de avestruz.

14 A nd the wild beasts of the desert shall meet with the wolves, and the wild goat shall cry to his fellow; yea, the night-monster shall settle there, and shall find her a place of rest.

Las fieras del desierto se encontrarán con las hienas, el macho cabrío llamará a los de su especie; sí, el monstruo nocturno se establecerá allí, y encontrará para sí lugar de reposo.

15 T here shall the dart-snake make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shade; yea, there shall the kites be gathered, every one with her mate.

Allí la serpiente anidará y pondrá sus huevos, los incubará y juntará su cría bajo su sombra; también allí se juntarán los halcones, cada uno con su compañera.

16 S eek ye out of the book of Jehovah, and read: no one of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate; for my mouth, it hath commanded, and his Spirit, it hath gathered them.

Buscad en el libro del Señor, y leed: Ninguno de ellos faltará, ninguno carecerá de su compañera. Porque su boca lo ha mandado, y su Espíritu los ha reunido.

17 A nd he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever; from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.

El les ha echado suertes, y su mano les ha repartido la tierra con el cordel. La poseerán para siempre; de generación en generación morarán en ella.
