1 T he burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?

Profecía sobre el valle de la visión. ¿Qué te pasa ahora, que has subido toda tú a los terrados ?

2 O thou that art full of shoutings, a tumultuous city, a joyous town; thy slain are not slain with the sword, neither are they dead in battle.

Tú, llena de bulla, ciudad alborotada, ciudad divertida; tus muertos no fueron muertos a espada, tampoco murieron en batalla.

3 A ll thy rulers fled away together, they were bound by the archers; all that were found of thee were bound together; they fled afar off.

Todos tus gobernantes han huido juntos, sin arco han sido capturados; todos los tuyos que hallaron fueron capturados a una, aunque habían huido lejos.

4 T herefore said I, Look away from me, I will weep bitterly; labor not to comfort me for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

Por tanto digo: Apartad de mí la mirada, dejadme llorar amargamente; no tratéis de consolarme por la destrucción de la hija de mi pueblo.

5 F or it is a day of discomfiture, and of treading down, and of perplexity, from the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, in the valley of vision; a breaking down of the walls, and a crying to the mountains.

Pues hay un día de pánico, servidumbre y confusión de parte del Señor, Dios de los ejércitos, en el valle de la visión, un derribar de murallas y un clamor al monte.

6 A nd Elam bare the quiver, with chariots of men and horsemen; and Kir uncovered the shield.

Elam tomó la aljaba con carros, infantería, y jinetes, y Kir desnudó el escudo.

7 A nd it came to pass, that thy choicest valleys were full of chariots, and the horsemen set themselves in array at the gate.

Tus mejores valles estaban llenos de carros, y los jinetes tomaron posiciones a la puerta.

8 A nd he took away the covering of Judah; and thou didst look in that day to the armor in the house of the forest.

Entonces cayó la defensa de Judá. Confiasteis aquel día en las armas de la casa del bosque,

9 A nd ye saw the breaches of the city of David, that they were many; and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool;

y visteis que eran muchas las brechas en la muralla de la ciudad de David, y recogisteis las aguas del estanque inferior.

10 a nd ye numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and ye brake down the houses to fortify the wall;

Entonces contasteis las casas de Jerusalén, y derribasteis casas para fortificar la muralla.

11 y e made also a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool. But ye looked not unto him that had done this, neither had ye respect unto him that purposed it long ago.

Hicisteis un depósito entre las dos murallas para las aguas del estanque viejo. Pero no confiasteis en el que lo hizo, ni considerasteis al que hace mucho tiempo lo planeó.

12 A nd in that day did the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:

Por eso aquel día, el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos, os llamó a llanto y a lamento, a rapar la cabeza y a vestir de cilicio.

13 a nd behold, joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine: let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we shall die.

Sin embargo hay gozo y alegría, matanza de bueyes y degüello de ovejas; comiendo carne y bebiendo vino, dicen: Comamos y bebamos, que mañana moriremos.

14 A nd Jehovah of hosts revealed himself in mine ears, Surely this iniquity shall not be forgiven you till ye die, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

Pero el Señor de los ejércitos me reveló al oído: Ciertamente esta iniquidad no os será perdonada hasta que muráis —dice el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos.

15 T hus saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, who is over the house, and say,

Así dice el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos: Anda, ve a ese mayordomo, a Sebna, que está encargado de la casa real, y dile:

16 W hat doest thou here? and whom has thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out here a sepulchre? hewing him out a sepulchre on high, graving a habitation for himself in the rock!

“¿Qué es tuyo aquí, y a quién tienes aquí, que te has labrado aquí un sepulcro, como el que labra en alto un sepulcro, como el que esculpe una morada para sí en la peña ?

17 B ehold, Jehovah, like a strong man, will hurl thee away violently; yea, he will wrap thee up closely.

“He aquí, oh hombre, el Señor te arrojará con violencia; te asirá firmemente,

18 H e will surely wind thee round and round, and toss thee like a ball into a large country; there shalt thou die, and there shall be the chariots of thy glory, thou shame of thy lord's house.

te enrollará bien como una pelota, y te lanzará a una tierra muy espaciosa. Allí morirás y allí quedarán tus magníficos carros, oh tú, vergüenza de la casa de tu Señor.”

19 A nd I will thrust thee from thine office; and from thy station shalt thou be pulled down.

Te depondré de tu cargo, y te derribaré de tu puesto.

20 A nd it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:

Y sucederá en aquel día, que llamaré a mi siervo Eliaquim, hijo de Hilcías,

21 a nd I will cloth him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand; and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

lo vestiré con tu túnica, con tu cinturón lo ceñiré, tu autoridad pondré en su mano, y llegará a ser un padre para los habitantes de Jerusalén y para la casa de Judá.

22 A nd the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; and he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

Entonces pondré la llave de la casa de David sobre su hombro; cuando él abra, nadie cerrará, cuando él cierre, nadie abrirá.

23 A nd I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a throne of glory to his father's house.

Lo clavaré como clavija en lugar seguro, y será un trono de gloria para la casa de su padre.

24 A nd they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, every small vessel, from the cups even to all the flagons.

Y colgarán de él toda la gloria de la casa de su padre, descendencia y prole, todas las vasijas menores, desde los tazones hasta los cántaros.

25 I n that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, shall the nail that was fastened in a sure place give way; and it shall be hewn down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off; for Jehovah hath spoken it.

En aquel día —declara el Señor de los ejércitos— la clavija clavada en un lugar firme se aflojará, se quebrará y caerá, y la carga colgada de ella será destruida, porque el Señor ha hablado.
