1 J esus therefore six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus raised from the dead.

¶ Jesús, pues, seis días antes de la Pascua, vino a Betania, donde Lázaro había sido muerto, al cual Jesús había resucitado de los muertos.

2 S o they made him a supper there: and Martha served; but Lazarus was one of them that sat at meat with him.

Y le hicieron allí una cena y Marta servía, y Lázaro era uno de los que estaban sentados a la mesa juntamente con él.

3 M ary therefore took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.

Entonces María tomó una libra de ungüento de nardo líquido, de mucho precio, y ungió los pies de Jesús, y limpió sus pies con sus cabellos; y la casa se llenó del olor del ungüento.

4 B ut Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, that should betray him, saith,

Y dijo uno de sus discípulos, Judas Iscariote, hijo de Simón, el que le había de entregar:

5 W hy was not this ointment sold for three hundred shillings, and given to the poor?

¿Por qué no se ha vendido este ungüento por trescientos denarios, y se dio a los pobres?

6 N ow this he said, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and having the bag took away what was put therein.

Mas dijo esto, no por el cuidado que él tenía de los pobres, sino porque era ladrón, y tenía la bolsa, y sustraía de lo que se echaba en ella.

7 J esus therefore said, Suffer her to keep it against the day of my burying.

Entonces Jesús dijo: Déjala; para el día de mi sepultura ha guardado esto;

8 F or the poor ye have always with you; but me ye have not always.

porque a los pobres siempre los tenéis con vosotros, mas a mí no siempre me tendréis.

9 T he common people therefore of the Jews learned that he was there: and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

Entonces muchos del pueblo de los judíos supieron que él estaba allí; y vinieron no solamente por causa de Jesús, sino también por ver a Lázaro, al cual había resucitado de los muertos.

10 B ut the chief priests took counsel that they might put Lazarus also to death;

Consultaron asimismo los príncipes de los sacerdotes, sobre matar también a Lázaro;

11 b ecause that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

porque muchos de los judíos iban y creían en Jesús por causa de él.

12 O n the morrow a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

¶ El siguiente día, la multitud que había venido al día de la Fiesta, cuando oyeron que Jesús venía a Jerusalén,

13 t ook the branches of the palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried out, Hosanna: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel.

tomaron ramos de palmas, y salieron a recibirle, y clamaban: ¡Hosanna, Bendito el que viene en el Nombre del Señor, el Rey de Israel!

14 A nd Jesus, having found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

Y halló Jesús un asnillo, y se sentó sobre él, como está escrito:

15 F ear not, daughter of Zion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.

No temas, oh hija de Sión: he aquí tu Rey viene, sentado sobre un pollino de asna.

16 T hese things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

Mas estas cosas no las entendieron sus discípulos primero; pero cuando Jesús fue glorificado, entonces se acordaron de que estas cosas estaban escritas de él, y que le hicieron estas cosas.

17 T he multitude therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, bare witness.

Y la multitud que estaba con él, daba testimonio de cuando llamó a Lázaro del sepulcro, y le resucitó de los muertos.

18 F or this cause also the multitude went and met him, for that they heard that he had done this sign.

Por lo cual también había venido la multitud a recibirle, porque habían oído que él había hecho esta señal;

19 T he Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Behold how ye prevail nothing: lo, the world is gone after him.

mas los fariseos dijeron entre sí: ¿Veis que nada aprovecháis? He aquí, que todo el mundo se va tras de él.

20 N ow there were certain Greeks among those that went up to worship at the feast:

¶ Y había unos griegos de los que habían subido a adorar en la Fiesta.

21 t hese therefore came to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

Estos pues, se llegaron a Felipe, que era de Betsaida de Galilea, y le rogaron, diciendo: Señor, querríamos ver a Jesús.

22 P hilip cometh and telleth Andrew: Andrew cometh, and Philip, and they tell Jesus.

Vino Felipe, y lo dijo a Andrés; entonces Andrés y Felipe, lo dicen a Jesús.

23 A nd Jesus answereth them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

Entonces Jesús les respondió, diciendo: La hora viene en que el Hijo del hombre ha de ser clarificado.

24 V erily, verily, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat fall into the earth and die, it abideth by itself alone; but if it die, it beareth much fruit.

De cierto, de cierto os digo, que si el grano que cae en la tierra, no muriere, él solo queda; mas si muriere, mucho fruto lleva.

25 H e that loveth his life loseth it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

El que ama su vida, la perderá; y el que aborrece su vida en este mundo, para vida eterna la guardará.

26 I f any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will the Father honor.

El que me sirve, sígame; y donde yo estuviere, allí también estará mi servidor. Al que me sirviere, mi Padre le honrará.

27 N ow is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But for this cause came I unto this hour.

¶ Ahora está turbada mi alma; ¿y qué diré? Padre, sálvame de esta hora; mas por esto he venido en esta hora.

28 F ather, glorify thy name. There came therefore a voice out of heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

Padre, clarifica tu Nombre. Entonces vino una voz del cielo: Y lo he clarificado, y lo clarificaré otra vez.

29 T he multitude therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it had thundered: others said, An angel hath spoken to him.

Y el pueblo que estaba presente, y la había oído, decía que había sido trueno. Otros decían: un ángel le ha hablado.

30 J esus answered and said, This voice hath not come for my sake, but for your sakes.

Respondió Jesús, y dijo: No ha venido esta voz por mi causa, sino por causa de vosotros.

31 N ow is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

Ahora es el juicio de este mundo; ahora el príncipe de este mundo será echado fuera.

32 A nd I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself.

Y yo, si fuere levantado de la tierra, a todos traeré a mí mismo.

33 B ut this he said, signifying by what manner of death he should die.

Y esto decía señalando de qué muerte había de morir.

34 T he multitude therefore answered him, We have heard out of the law that the Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

Le respondió el pueblo: Nosotros hemos oído de la ley, que el Cristo permanece para siempre, ¿cómo pues dices tú: Conviene que el Hijo del hombre sea levantado? ¿Quién es este Hijo del hombre?

35 J esus therefore said unto them, Yet a little while is the light among you. Walk while ye have the light, that darkness overtake you not: and he that walketh in the darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

Entonces Jesús les dice: Aún por un poco estará la Luz entre vosotros; andad entre tanto que tenéis luz, para que no os tomen las tinieblas; porque el que anda en tinieblas, no sabe dónde va.

36 W hile ye have the light, believe on the light, that ye may become sons of light. These things spake Jesus, and he departed and hid himself from them.

Entre tanto que tenéis la Luz, creed en la Luz, para que seáis hijos de la Luz. Estas cosas habló Jesús, y se fue, y se escondió de ellos.

37 B ut though he had done so many signs before them, yet they believed not on him:

¶ Pero aun habiendo hecho delante de ellos tantas señales, no creían en él.

38 t hat the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

Para que se cumpliera la palabra que dijo el profeta Isaías: ¿Señor, quién creerá a nuestro dicho? ¿Y el brazo del Señor, a quién es revelado?

39 F or this cause they could not believe, for that Isaiah said again,

Por esto no podían creer, porque otra vez dijo Isaías:

40 H e hath blinded their eyes, and he hardened their heart; Lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, And should turn, And I should heal them.

Cegó los ojos de ellos, y endureció su corazón; Para que no vean con los ojos, y entiendan de corazón, y se conviertan, y yo los sane.

41 T hese things said Isaiah, because he saw his glory; and he spake of him.

Estas cosas dijo Isaías cuando vio su gloria, y habló de él.

42 N evertheless even of the rulers many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

¶ Con todo eso, aun de los príncipes, muchos creyeron en él; mas por causa de los fariseos no lo confesaban, para no ser echados de la sinagoga.

43 f or they loved the glory that is of men more than the glory that is of God.

Porque amaban más la gloria de los hombres que la gloria de Dios.

44 A nd Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

¶ Mas Jesús clamó y dijo: El que cree en mí, no cree en mí, sino en el que me envió;

45 A nd he that beholdeth me beholdeth him that sent me.

y el que me ve, ve al que me envió.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me may not abide in the darkness.

Yo, la Luz, he venido al mundo, para que todo aquel que cree en mí no permanezca en tinieblas.

47 A nd if any man hear my sayings, and keep them not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Y el que oyere mis palabras, y no creyere, yo no le juzgo; porque no he venido a juzgar al mundo, sino a salvar al mundo.

48 H e that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my sayings, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I spake, the same shall judge him in the last day.

El que me desecha, y no recibe mis palabras, tiene quien le juzgue; la palabra que he hablado, ella le juzgará en el día postrero.

49 F or I spake not from myself; but the Father that sent me, he hath given me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

Porque yo no he hablado de mí mismo; mas el Padre que me envió, él me dio mandamiento de lo que he de decir, y de lo que he de hablar.

50 A nd I know that his commandment is life eternal: the things therefore which I speak, even as the Father hath said unto me, so I speak.

Y sé que su mandamiento es vida eterna; así que, lo que yo hablo, como el Padre me lo ha dicho, así hablo.
