1 T hen we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as Jehovah spake unto me; and we compassed mount Seir many days.

¶ Y volvimos, y partimos al desierto, camino del mar Bermejo, como el SEÑOR me había dicho; y rodeamos el monte de Seir por muchos días;

2 A nd Jehovah spake unto me, saying,

hasta que el SEÑOR me habló, diciendo:

3 Y e have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

Habéis rodeado este monte bastante tiempo; volveos al aquilón.

4 A nd command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the border of your brethren the children of Esau, that dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore;

Y manda al pueblo, diciendo: Pasando vosotros por el término de vuestros hermanos los hijos de Esaú, que habitan en Seir, ellos tendrán miedo de vosotros; mas vosotros guardaos mucho;

5 c ontend not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

no os busquéis pelea con ellos; que no os daré de su tierra ni aun la holladura de la planta de un pie; porque yo he dado por heredad a Esaú el monte de Seir.

6 Y e shall purchase food of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.

La comida compraréis de ellos por dinero, y comeréis; y el agua también compraréis de ellos por dinero, y beberéis;

7 F or Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand; he hath known thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years Jehovah thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

pues el SEÑOR tu Dios te ha bendecido en toda obra de tus manos; él sabe que andas por este gran desierto; estos cuarenta años el SEÑOR tu Dios ha estado contigo; y ninguna cosa te ha faltado.

8 S o we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, that dwell in Seir, from the way of the Arabah from Elath and from Ezion-geber. And we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

¶ Y pasamos de nuestros hermanos los hijos de Esaú, que habitaban en Seir, por el camino de la llanura de Elat y de Ezión-geber. Y volvimos, y pasamos camino del desierto de Moab.

9 A nd Jehovah said unto me, Vex not Moab, neither contend with them in battle; for I will not give thee of his land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.

Y el SEÑOR me dijo: No molestes a Moab, ni te busques la guerra con ellos, que no te daré posesión de su tierra; porque yo he dado a Ar por heredad a los hijos de Lot.

10 ( The Emim dwelt therein aforetime, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim:

(Los emitas habitaron en ella antes, pueblo grande, y numeroso, y alto como gigantes.

11 t hese also are accounted Rephaim, as the Anakim; but the Moabites call them Emim.

Por gigantes eran ellos también contados, como los anaceos; y los moabitas los llaman emitas.

12 T he Horites also dwelt in Seir aforetime, but the children of Esau succeeded them; and they destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which Jehovah gave unto them.)

Y en Seir habitaron antes los horeos, a los cuales heredaron los hijos de Esaú; y los destruyeron de delante de sí, y moraron en lugar de ellos; como hizo Israel en la tierra de su posesión que les dio el SEÑOR.)

13 N ow rise up, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.

Levantaos ahora, y pasad el arroyo de Zered. Y pasamos el arroyo de Zered.

14 A nd the days in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them.

Y los días que anduvimos de Cades-barnea hasta que pasamos el arroyo de Zered, fueron treinta y ocho años; hasta que se acabó toda la generación de los hombres de guerra de en medio del campamento, como el SEÑOR les había jurado.

15 M oreover the hand of Jehovah was against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.

Y también la mano del SEÑOR fue sobre ellos para destruirlos de en medio del campamento, hasta acabarlos.

16 S o it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,

Y aconteció que cuando todos los hombres de guerra fueron acabados por muerte de entre el pueblo,

17 t hat Jehovah spake unto me, saying,

el SEÑOR me habló, diciendo:

18 T hou art this day to pass over Ar, the border of Moab:

Tú pasarás hoy el término de Moab, a Ar,

19 a nd when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, vex them not, nor contend with them; for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon for a possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.

y te acercarás delante de los hijos de Amón, no los molestes, ni pelees con ellos; porque no te daré posesión de la tierra de los hijos de Amón; que a los hijos de Lot la he dado por heredad.

20 ( That also is accounted a land of Rephaim: Rephaim dwelt therein aforetime; but the Ammonites call them Zamzummim,

(Por tierra de gigantes fue también ella tenida; habitaron en ella gigantes en otro tiempo, a los cuales los amonitas llamaban zomzomeos;

21 a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim; but Jehovah destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead;

pueblo grande, numeroso, y alto, como los anaceos; a los cuales el SEÑOR destruyó de delante de los amonitas, y ellos les heredaron, y habitaron en su lugar,

22 a s he did for the children of Esau, that dwell in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:

como hizo con los hijos de Esaú, que habitaban en Seir, que destruyó a los horeos de delante de ellos; y ellos les heredaron, y habitaron en su lugar hasta hoy.

23 a nd the Avvim, that dwelt in villages as far as Gaza, the Caphtorim, that came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)

Y a los aveos que habitaban en Haserin hasta Gaza, los caftoreos que salieron de Caftor los destruyeron, y habitaron en su lugar.)

24 R ise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the valley of the Arnon: behold, I have given into thy hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land; begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.

¶ Levantaos, partid, y pasad el arroyo de Arnón; mira, yo he dado en tu mano a Sehón rey de Hesbón, amorreo, y a su tierra; comienza, toma posesión, y busca la guerra con él.

25 T his day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the peoples that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

Hoy comenzaré a poner tu miedo y tu espanto sobre los pueblos debajo de todo el cielo, los cuales oirán tu fama, y temblarán, y se angustiarán delante de ti.

26 A nd I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,

Y envié embajadores desde el desierto de Cademot a Sehón rey de Hesbón, con palabras de paz, diciendo:

27 L et me pass through thy land: I will go along by the highway, I will turn neither unto the right hand nor to the left.

Pasaré por tu tierra por el camino; por el camino iré, sin apartarme a diestra ni a siniestra.

28 T hou shalt sell me food for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only let me pass through on my feet,

La comida me venderás por dinero y comeré; el agua también me darás por dinero, y beberé; solamente pasaré a pie;

29 a s the children of Esau that dwell in Seir, and the Moabites that dwell in Ar, did unto me; until I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which Jehovah our God giveth us.

como lo hicieron conmigo los hijos de Esaú que habitaban en Seir, y los moabitas que habitan en Ar; hasta que pase el Jordán a la tierra que nos da el SEÑOR nuestro Dios.

30 B ut Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for Jehovah thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as at this day.

Mas Sehón rey de Hesbón no quiso que pasáramos por él; porque el SEÑOR tu Dios había endurecido su espíritu, y obstinado su corazón para entregarlo en tu mano, como hasta hoy.

31 A nd Jehovah said unto me, Behold, I have begun to deliver up Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.

Y me dijo el SEÑOR: Mira, ya he comenzado a dar delante de ti a Sehón y a su tierra; comienza, toma posesión, para que heredes su tierra.

32 T hen Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, unto battle at Jahaz.

Y nos salió Sehón al encuentro, él y todo su pueblo, para pelear en Jahaza.

33 A nd Jehovah our God delivered him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.

Mas el SEÑOR nuestro Dios lo entregó delante de nosotros; y lo herimos a él y a sus hijos, y a todo su pueblo.

34 A nd we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones; we left none remaining:

Y tomamos entonces todas sus ciudades, y destruimos todas las ciudades, hombres, y mujeres, y niños; no dejamos ninguno.

35 o nly the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, with the spoil of the cities which we had taken.

Solamente tomamos para nosotros las bestias, y los despojos de las ciudades que habíamos tomado.

36 F rom Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and from the city that is in the valley, even unto Gilead, there was not a city too high for us; Jehovah our God delivered up all before us:

Desde Aroer, que está junto a la ribera del arroyo de Arnón, y la ciudad que está en el arroyo, hasta Galaad, no hubo ciudad que escapara de nosotros; todas las entregó el SEÑOR nuestro Dios delante de nosotros.

37 o nly to the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not near; all the side of the river Jabbok, and the cities of the hill-country, and wheresoever Jehovah our God forbade us.

Solamente a la tierra de los hijos de Amón no llegaste, ni a todo lo que está a la orilla del arroyo de Jaboc ni a las ciudades del monte, ni a lugar alguno que el SEÑOR nuestro Dios había prohibido.
