1 A nd it came to pass after this, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them some of the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

Pasadas estas cosas, aconteció que los hijos de Moab y de Amón, y con ellos otros a más de los amonitas, vinieron contra Josafat a la guerra.

2 T hen there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea from Syria; and, behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar (the same is En-gedi).

Y vinieron, y dieron aviso a Josafat, diciendo: Contra ti viene una gran multitud del otro lado del mar, y de la Siria; y he aquí ellos están en Hazezontamar, que es En-gadi.

3 A nd Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek unto Jehovah; and he proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

Entonces él tuvo temor; y puso Josafat su rostro para consultar al SEÑOR, e hizo pregonar ayuno a todo Judá.

4 A nd Judah gathered themselves together, to seek help of Jehovah: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek Jehovah.

Y se congregaron los de Judá para consultar al SEÑOR: y también de todas las ciudades de Judá vinieron a consultar al SEÑOR.

5 A nd Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of Jehovah, before the new court;

Y se puso Josafat en pie en la congregación de Judá y de Jerusalén, en la Casa del SEÑOR, delante del atrio nuevo;

6 a nd he said, O Jehovah, the God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and art not thou ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? and in thy hand is power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee.

y dijo: SEÑOR Dios de nuestros padres, ¿no eres tú Dios en los cielos, y te enseñoreas en todos los reinos de los gentiles? ¿No está en tu mano la fuerza y potencia, que no hay quien te resista?

7 D idst not thou, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and give it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?

Dios nuestro, ¿no echaste tú a los moradores de esta tierra delante de tu pueblo Israel, y la diste a la simiente de Abraham tu amigo para siempre?

8 A nd they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,

Y ellos han habitado en ella, y te han edificado en ella santuario a tu nombre, diciendo:

9 I f evil come upon us, the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house, and before thee, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, and thou wilt hear and save.

Si mal viniere sobre nosotros, o espada de juicio, o pestilencia, o hambre, nos presentaremos delante de esta Casa, y delante de ti (porque tu Nombre está en esta Casa), y de nuestras tribulaciones clamaremos a ti, y tú nos oirás y salvarás.

10 A nd now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and destroyed them not;

Ahora, pues, he aquí los hijos de Amón y de Moab, y los del monte de Seir, por los cuales no quisiste que pasara Israel cuando venían de la tierra de Egipto, sino que se apartaran de ellos, y no los destruyeran;

11 b ehold, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.

he aquí ellos nos dan el pago, viniendo a echarnos de tu posesión, que tú nos diste que poseamos.

12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but out eyes are upon thee.

¡Oh Dios nuestro! ¿No los juzgarás tú? Porque en nosotros no hay fuerza contra tan grande multitud que viene contra nosotros; no sabemos lo que hemos de hacer, mas en ti están puestos nuestros ojos.

13 A nd all Judah stood before Jehovah, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.

Y todo Judá estaba en pie delante del SEÑOR, con sus niños, y sus mujeres, y sus hijos.

14 T hen upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of Jehovah in the midst of the assembly;

Y estaba allí Jahaziel hijo de Zacarías, hijo de Benaía, hijo de Jeiel, hijo de Matanías, levita de los hijos de Asaf, sobre el cual vino el espíritu del SEÑOR en medio de la congregación;

15 a nd he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat: Thus saith Jehovah unto you, Fear not ye, neither be dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.

y dijo: Oíd, Judá todo, y vosotros moradores de Jerusalén, y tú, rey Josafat, el SEÑOR os dice así: No temáis ni os amedrentéis delante de ésta tan grande multitud; porque no es vuestra la guerra, sino de Dios.

16 T o-morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the ascent of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.

Mañana descenderéis contra ellos; he aquí que ellos subirán por la cuesta de Sis, y los hallaréis junto al arroyo, antes del desierto de Jeruel.

17 Y e shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of Jehovah with you, O Judah and Jerusalem; fear not, nor be dismayed: to-morrow go out against them: for Jehovah is with you.

No habrá para qué vosotros peleéis ahora; paraos, estad quedos, y ved la salud del SEÑOR con vosotros. Oh Judá y Jerusalén, no temáis ni desmayéis; salid mañana contra ellos, que el SEÑOR estará con vosotros.

18 A nd Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before Jehovah, worshipping Jehovah.

Entonces Josafat se inclinó rostro a tierra, y asimismo todo Judá y los moradores de Jerusalén se postraron delante del SEÑOR, y adoraron al SEÑOR.

19 A nd the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites, stood up to praise Jehovah, the God of Israel, with an exceeding loud voice.

Y se levantaron los levitas de los hijos de Coat y de los hijos de Coré, para alabar al SEÑOR el Dios de Israel a grande y alta voz.

20 A nd they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem: believe in Jehovah your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Y cuando se levantaron por la mañana, salieron por el desierto de Tecoa. Y mientras ellos salían, Josafat estando en pie, dijo: Oídme, Judá y moradores de Jerusalén. Creed al SEÑOR vuestro Dios, y estaréis seguros; creed a sus profetas, y seréis prosperados.

21 A nd when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed them that should sing unto Jehovah, and give praise in holy array, as they went out before the army, and say, Give thanks unto Jehovah; for his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

Y habido consejo con el pueblo, puso a algunos que cantaran al SEÑOR, y alabaran en la hermosura de la santidad, mientras que salía la gente armada, y dijeran: Alabad al SEÑOR, porque su misericordia es para siempre.

22 A nd when they began to sing and to praise, Jehovah set liers-in-wait against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, that were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

Y cuando comenzaron a cantar y a alabar, el SEÑOR puso a los hijos de Moab y los del monte de Seir para que asecharan a los hijos de Amón, que venían contra Judá, y se mataron los unos a los otros.

23 F or the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.

Y los hijos de Amón y Moab se levantaron contra los del monte de Seir, para matarlos y destruirlos; y cuando acabaron con los del monte de Seir, cada cual ayudó a su compañero a matarse.

24 A nd when Judah came to the watch-tower of the wilderness, they looked upon the multitude; and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and there were none that escaped.

Y cuando vino Judá a la atalaya del desierto, miraron por la multitud; y helos aquí que estaban tendidos en tierra muertos, pues ninguno había escapado.

25 A nd when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in taking the spoil, it was so much.

Y viniendo Josafat y su pueblo a despojarlos, hallaron en ellos muchas riquezas, y cuerpos muertos, y vestidos y vasos preciosos, los cuales tomaron para sí, tantos, que no los podían llevar; tres días duró el despojo, porque era mucho.

26 A nd on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Beracah; for there they blessed Jehovah: therefore the name of that place was called The valley of Beracah unto this day.

¶ Y al cuarto día se juntaron en el valle de Beraca (de la bendición); porque allí bendijeron al SEÑOR, y por esto llamaron el nombre de aquel paraje el valle de Beraca, hasta hoy.

27 T hen they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for Jehovah had made them to rejoice over their enemies.

Y todo Judá y los de Jerusalén, y Josafat a la cabeza de ellos, volvieron para regresar a Jerusalén con gozo, porque el SEÑOR les había dado gozo de sus enemigos.

28 A nd they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of Jehovah.

Y vinieron a Jerusalén con salterios, arpas, y bocinas, a la Casa del SEÑOR.

29 A nd the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries, when they heard that Jehovah fought against the enemies of Israel.

Y vino el pavor de Dios sobre todos los reinos de la tierra, cuando oyeron que el SEÑOR había peleado contra los enemigos de Israel.

30 S o the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet; for his God gave him rest round about.

Y el reino de Josafat tuvo reposo; porque su Dios le dio reposo por todas partes.

31 A nd Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

Así reinó Josafat sobre Judá; de treinta y cinco años era cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Azuba, hija de Silhi.

32 A nd he walked in the way of Asa his father, and turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah.

Y anduvo en el camino de Asa su padre, sin apartarse de él, haciendo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR.

33 H owbeit the high places were not taken away; neither as yet had the people set their hearts unto the God of their fathers.

Con todo eso los lugares altos no eran quitados; pues el pueblo aun no había preparado su corazón al Dios de sus padres.

34 N ow the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Jehu the son of Hanani, which is inserted in the book of the kings of Israel.

Los demás hechos de Josafat, primeros y postreros, he aquí están escritos en las palabras de Jehú hijo de Hanani, del cual es hecha mención en el libro de los reyes de Israel.

35 A nd after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel; the same did very wickedly:

Pasadas estas cosas, Josafat rey de Judá se juntó con Ocozías rey de Israel, el cual fue dado a la impiedad;

36 a nd he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish; and they made the ships in Ezion-geber.

se juntó con él para aparejar navíos que fueran a Tarsis; y construyeron los navíos en Ezión-geber.

37 T hen Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, Jehovah hath destroyed thy works. And the ships were broken, so that they were not able to go to Tarshish.

Entonces Eliezer hijo de Dodava de Maresa, profetizó contra Josafat, diciendo: Por cuanto has juntado con Ocozías, el SEÑOR destruirá tus obras. Y los navíos se rompieron, y no pudieron ir a Tarsis.
