1 W hen therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John

¶ De manera que cuando el Señor supo cómo los fariseos habían oído que Jesús hacía discípulos y bautizaba más que Juan,

2 ( although Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples),

(aunque Jesús no bautizaba, sino sus discípulos),

3 h e left Judea, and departed again into Galilee.

dejó a Judea, y se fue otra vez a Galilea.

4 A nd he must needs pass through Samaria.

¶ Y era necesario que pasará por Samaria.

5 S o he cometh to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph:

Vino, pues, a una ciudad de Samaria que se llamaba Sicar, junto a la heredad que Jacob dio a José su hijo.

6 a nd Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

Y estaba allí la fuente de Jacob. Pues Jesús, cansado del camino, así se sentó a la fuente. Era como la hora sexta.

7 T here cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

Vino una mujer de Samaria a sacar agua; y Jesús le dice: Dame de beber.

8 F or his disciples were gone away into the city to buy food.

(Porque sus discípulos habían ido a la ciudad a comprar de comer.)

9 T he Samaritan woman therefore saith unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, who am a Samaritan woman? (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)

Y la mujer samaritana le dice: ¿Cómo tú, siendo judío, me pides a mí de beber, que soy mujer samaritana? Porque los judíos no se tratan con los samaritanos.

10 J esus answered and said unto unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Si conocieras el don de Dios, y quién es el que te dice: Dame de beber; tú pedirías de él, y él te daría agua viva.

11 T he woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: whence then hast thou that living water?

La mujer le dice: Señor, no tienes con qué sacarla, y el pozo es hondo; ¿de dónde, pues, tienes el agua viva?

12 A rt thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his sons, and his cattle?

¿Eres tú mayor que nuestro padre Jacob, que nos dio este pozo, del cual él bebió, y sus hijos, y sus ganados?

13 J esus answered and said unto her, Every one that drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Cualquiera que bebiere de esta agua, volverá a tener sed;

14 b ut whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up unto eternal life.

mas el que bebiere del agua que yo le daré, para siempre no tendrá sed; sino que el agua que yo le daré, será en él una fuente de agua que salte para vida eterna.

15 T he woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come all the way hither to draw.

La mujer le dice: Señor, dame esta agua, para que no tenga sed, ni venga acá a sacarla.

16 J esus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

Jesús le dice: Ve, llama a tu marido, y ven acá.

17 T he woman answered and said unto him, I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her, Thou saidst well, I have no husband:

Respondió la mujer, y le dijo: No tengo marido. Le dice Jesús: Bien has dicho: No tengo marido;

18 f or thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: this hast thou said truly.

porque cinco maridos has tenido; y el que ahora tienes no es tu marido; esto has dicho con verdad.

19 T he woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

Le dice la mujer: Señor, me parece que tú eres profeta.

20 O ur fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

Nuestros padres adoraron en este monte, y vosotros decís que en Jerusalén es el lugar donde es necesario adorar.

21 J esus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father.

Le dice Jesús: Mujer, créeme, que la hora viene, cuando ni en este monte, ni en Jerusalén adoraréis al Padre.

22 Y e worship that which ye know not: we worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.

Vosotros adoráis lo que no sabéis; nosotros adoramos lo que sabemos; porque la salud viene de los Judíos.

23 B ut the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for such doth the Father seek to be his worshippers.

Mas la hora viene, y ahora es, cuando los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en Espíritu y en verdad; porque también el Padre tales adoradores busca que le adoren.

24 G od is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran, en Espíritu y en verdad es necesario que adoren.

25 T he woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh (he that is called Christ): when he is come, he will declare unto us all things.

Le dice la mujer: Sé que el Mesías (el Ungido) ha de venir, el cual se dice el Cristo; cuando él viniere nos declarará todas las cosas.

26 J esus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

Le dice Jesús: Yo Soy, que hablo contigo.

27 A nd upon this came his disciples; and they marvelled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why speakest thou with her?

¶ Y en esto vinieron sus discípulos, y se maravillaron de que hablaba con aquella mujer; mas ninguno dijo: ¿Qué preguntas? O, ¿Qué hablas con ella?

28 S o the woman left her waterpot, and went away into the city, and saith to the people,

Entonces la mujer dejó su cántaro, y fue a la ciudad, y dijo a aquellos hombres:

29 C ome, see a man, who told me all things that ever I did: can this be the Christ?

Venid, ved un hombre que me ha dicho todo lo que he hecho; ¿si quizás es éste el Cristo?

30 T hey went out of the city, and were coming to him.

Entonces salieron de la ciudad, y vinieron a él.

31 I n the mean while the disciples prayed him, saying, Rabbi, eat.

Entre tanto los discípulos le rogaban, diciendo: Rabí, come.

32 B ut he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not.

Y él les dijo: Yo tengo una comida que comer, que vosotros no sabéis.

33 T he disciples therefore said one to another, Hath any man brought him aught to eat?

Entonces los discípulos decían el uno al otro: ¿Si le habrá traído alguien de comer?

34 J esus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to accomplish his work.

Les dice Jesús: Mi comida es que haga la voluntad del que me envió, y que acabe su obra.

35 S ay not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh the harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white already unto harvest.

¿No decís vosotros que aún hay cuatro meses y la siega viene? He aquí os digo: Alzad vuestros ojos, y mirad el campo, porque ya está blanco para la siega.

36 H e that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal; that he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

Y el que siega, recibe salario, y allega fruto para vida eterna; para que el que siembra también goce, y el que siega.

37 F or herein is the saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

Porque en esto es el dicho verdadero: Que uno es el que siembra, y otro es el que siega.

38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye have not labored: others have labored, and ye are entered into their labor.

Yo os he enviado a segar lo que vosotros no labrasteis; otros labraron, y vosotros habéis entrado en sus labores.

39 A nd from that city many of the Samaritans believed on him because of the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all things that ever I did.

Y muchos de los samaritanos de aquella ciudad creyeron en él por la palabra de la mujer, que daba testimonio, diciendo: Que me dijo todo lo que he hecho.

40 S o when the Samaritans came unto him, they besought him to abide with them: and he abode there two days.

Viniendo pues los samaritanos a él, le rogaron que se quedara allí; y permaneció allí dos días.

41 A nd many more believed because of his word;

Y creyeron muchos más por la palabra de él.

42 a nd they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speaking: for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.

Y decían a la mujer: Ya no creemos por tu dicho; porque nosotros mismos hemos oído, y sabemos que verdaderamente éste es el Salvador del mundo, el Cristo.

43 A nd after the two days he went forth from thence into Galilee.

¶ Y dos días después, salió de allí, y se fue a Galilea.

44 F or Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honor in his own country.

Porque el mismo Jesús dio testimonio de que un profeta en su tierra no tiene honra.

45 S o when he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.

Y cuando vino a Galilea, los galileos le recibieron, vistas todas las cosas que había hecho en Jerusalén en la Fiesta; porque también ellos habían ido a la Fiesta.

46 H e came therefore again unto Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

Vino pues Jesús otra vez a Caná de Galilea, donde había hecho el vino del agua. Y había en Capernaum uno del rey, cuyo hijo estaba enfermo.

47 W hen he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.

Este, cuando oyó que Jesús venía de Judea a Galilea, fue a él, y le rogaba que descendiera, y sanara a su hijo, porque se comenzaba a morir.

48 J esus therefore said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will in no wise believe.

Entonces Jesús le dijo: Si no viereis señales y milagros no creeréis.

49 T he nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

El del rey le dijo: Señor, desciende antes que mi niño muera.

50 J esus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. The man believed the word that Jesus spake unto him, and he went his way.

Le dice Jesús: Ve, tu hijo vive. Y el hombre creyó a la palabra que Jesús le dijo, y se fue.

51 A nd as he was now going down, his servants met him, saying, that his son lived.

Y cuando ya él descendía, los siervos le salieron a recibir, y le dieron nuevas, diciendo: Tu hijo vive.

52 S o he inquired of them the hour when he began to amend. They said therefore unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

Entonces él les preguntó a qué hora comenzó a estar mejor. Y le dijeron: Ayer a la séptima le dejó la fiebre.

53 S o the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

El padre entonces entendió, que aquella hora era cuando Jesús le dijo: Tu hijo vive; y creyó él y toda su casa.

54 T his is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judaea into Galilee.

Esta también es la segunda señal que Jesús hizo, cuando vino de Judea a Galilea.
