1 A nd when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.

Y llegado el mes séptimo, y ya los hijos de Israel en las ciudades, se juntó el pueblo como un varón en Jerusalén.

2 T hen stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt-offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.

Entonces se levantó Jesúa hijo de Josadac, y sus hermanos los sacerdotes, y Zorobabel hijo de Salatiel, y sus hermanos, y edificaron el altar del Dios de Israel, para ofrecer sobre él holocaustos como está escrito en la ley de Moisés varón de Dios.

3 A nd they set the altar upon its base; for fear was upon them because of the peoples of the countries: and they offered burnt-offerings thereon unto Jehovah, even burnt-offerings morning and evening.

Y asentaron el altar sobre sus basas, porque tenían miedo de los pueblos de las tierras, y ofrecieron sobre él holocaustos al SEÑOR, holocaustos a la mañana y a la tarde.

4 A nd they kept the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt-offerings by number, according to the ordinance, as the duty of every day required;

Hicieron asimismo la fiesta de los tabernáculos, como está escrito, y holocaustos cada día por cuenta, conforme a la ordenanza, cada cosa en su día;

5 a nd afterward the continual burnt-offering, and the offerings of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of Jehovah that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill-offering unto Jehovah.

y a más de esto, el holocausto continuo, y las nuevas lunas, y todas las fiestas santificadas del SEÑOR, y toda ofrenda espontánea, voluntaria al SEÑOR.

6 F rom the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt-offerings unto Jehovah: but the foundation of the temple of Jehovah was not yet laid.

Desde el primer día del mes séptimo comenzaron a ofrecer holocaustos al SEÑOR; mas el templo del SEÑOR no estaba aún fundado.

7 T hey gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and food, and drink, and oil, unto them of Sidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar-trees from Lebanon to the sea, unto Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.

¶ Y dieron dinero a los carpinteros y oficiales; asimismo comida y bebida, y aceite a los sidonios y tirios, para que trajeran madera de cedro del Líbano al mar de Jope, conforme a la voluntad de Ciro rey de Persia sobre ellos.

8 N ow in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the rest of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem, and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work of the house of Jehovah.

Y en el año segundo de su venida a la Casa de Dios en Jerusalén, en el mes segundo, comenzaron Zorobabel hijo de Salatiel, y Jesúa hijo de Josadac, y los otros sus hermanos, los sacerdotes y los levitas, y todos los que habían venido de la cautividad a Jerusalén; y pusieron a los levitas de veinte años arriba para que tuvieran cargo de la obra de la Casa del SEÑOR.

9 T hen stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to have the oversight of the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.

Y estuvo Jesúa, sus hijos y sus hermanos, Cadmiel y sus hijos, hijos de Judá, como un varón para dar prisa a los que hacían la obra en la casa de Dios: los hijos de Henadad, sus hijos y sus hermanos, levitas.

10 A nd when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of Jehovah, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise Jehovah, after the order of David king of Israel.

Y los albañiles del templo del SEÑOR echaron los cimientos; y pusieron a los sacerdotes vestidos de sus ropas, con trompetas, y a los levitas hijos de Asaf con címbalos, para que alabaran al SEÑOR, según la ordenanza de David rey de Israel.

11 A nd they sang one to another in praising and giving thanks unto Jehovah, saying, For he is good, for his lovingkindness endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised Jehovah, because the foundation of the house of Jehovah was laid.

Y cantaban, alabando y confesando al SEÑOR, y decían: Porque es bueno, porque para siempre es su misericordia sobre Israel. Y todo el pueblo gritaba con gran grito, alabando al SEÑOR, porque la Casa del SEÑOR era acimentada.

12 B ut many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers' houses, the old men that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:

Y muchos de los sacerdotes y de los levitas y de las cabezas de los padres, viejos, que habían visto la casa primera, viendo fundar esta casa, lloraban en alta voz, mientras muchos otros daban grandes gritos de alegría.

13 s o that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people; for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.

Y el pueblo no podía discernir la voz del grito de alegría, de la voz del lloro del pueblo; porque el pueblo gritaba con gran grito, y la voz se oía hasta lejos.
