1 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

Y vino Palabra del SEÑOR a mí, diciendo:

2 S on of man, what is the vine-tree more than any tree, the vine-branch which is among the trees of the forest?

Hijo de hombre, ¿qué es el palo de la vid más que todo palo? ¿El sarmiento qué es entre los maderos del bosque?

3 S hall wood be taken thereof to make any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?

¿Tomarán de él madera para hacer alguna obra? ¿Tomarán de él una estaca para colgar de ella algún vaso?

4 B ehold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire hath devoured both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned: is it profitable for any work?

He aquí, que es puesto en el fuego para ser consumido; sus dos extremos consumió el fuego, y la parte del medio se quemó; ¿aprovechará para obra alguna ?

5 B ehold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned, shall it yet be meet for any work!

He aquí que cuando estaba entero no era para obra alguna, ¿cuánto menos después que el fuego lo hubiere consumido, y fuere quemado? ¿Será más para alguna obra?

6 T herefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: As the vine-tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Por tanto, así dijo el Señor DIOS: Como el palo de la vid entre los maderos del bosque, el cual yo entregué al fuego para que lo consuma, así he entregado a los moradores de Jerusalén.

7 A nd I will set my face against them; they shall go forth from the fire, but the fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I set my face against them.

Y pondré mi rostro contra ellos; de un fuego salieron, y otro fuego los consumirá; y sabréis que yo soy el SEÑOR, cuando pusiere mi rostro contra ellos.

8 A nd I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord Jehovah.

Y tornaré la tierra en asolamiento, por cuanto se rebelaron completamente, dijo el Señor DIOS.
