1 D avid therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave of Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him.

¶ Y yéndose David de allí se escapó a la cueva de Adulam (justicia o rectitud del pueblo); lo cual cuando oyeron sus hermanos y toda la casa de su padre, vinieron allí a él.

2 A nd every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

Y se juntaron con él los varones afligidos, y todo hombre que estaba adeudado, y todos los que estaban en amargura de alma; y fue hecho capitán de ellos; y tuvo consigo como cuatrocientos hombres.

3 A nd David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

Y se fue David de allí a Mizpa de Moab, y dijo al rey de Moab: Yo te ruego que mi padre y mi madre estén con vosotros, hasta que sepa lo que Dios hará de mí.

4 A nd he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the stronghold.

Los trajo, pues, a la presencia del rey de Moab, y habitaron con él todo el tiempo que David estuvo en la fortaleza.

5 A nd the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the stronghold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hereth.

Y el profeta Gad dijo a David: No te estés en esta fortaleza, anda, y vete a tierra de Judá. Y David partió, y vino al bosque de Haret.

6 A nd Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him: now Saul was sitting in Gibeah, under the tamarisk-tree in Ramah, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him.

¶ Y oyó Saúl como había aparecido David, y los que estaban con él. Estaba entonces Saúl en Gabaa debajo de un árbol en Ramá, y tenía su lanza en su mano, y todos sus criados estaban en derredor de él.

7 A nd Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, will he make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds,

Y dijo Saúl a sus criados que estaban en derredor de él: Oíd ahora, hijos de Jemini: ¿Os dará también a todos vosotros el hijo de Jessé tierras y viñas, y os hará a todos vosotros capitanes de mil y de cien;

8 t hat all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that discloseth to me when my son maketh a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or discloseth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

que todos vosotros habéis conspirado contra mí, y no hay quien me descubra al oído cómo mi hijo ha hecho alianza con el hijo de Jessé, ni hay alguno de vosotros que se duela de mí, y me descubra cómo mi hijo ha despertado a mi siervo contra mí, para que me aceche, según hace hoy día?

9 T hen answered Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

Entonces Doeg idumeo, que era señor entre los siervos de Saúl, respondió y dijo: Yo vi al hijo de Jessé que vino a Nob, a Ahimelec hijo de Ahitob;

10 A nd he inquired of Jehovah for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

el cual consultó por él al SEÑOR, y le dio provisión, y también le dio la espada de Goliat el filisteo.

11 T hen the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.

Y el rey envió por el sacerdote Ahimelec hijo de Ahitob, y por toda la casa de su padre, los sacerdotes que estaban en Nob; y todos vinieron al rey.

12 A nd Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.

Y Saúl le dijo: Oye ahora, hijo de Ahitob. Y él dijo: Heme aquí, señor mío.

13 A nd Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

Y le dijo Saúl: ¿Por qué habéis conspirado contra mí, tú y el hijo de Jessé, cuando tú le diste pan y espada, y consultaste por él a Dios, para que se levantara contra mí y me acechara, como lo hace hoy día?

14 T hen Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who among all thy servants is so faithful as David, who is the king's son-in-law, and is taken into thy council, and is honorable in thy house?

Entonces Ahimelec respondió al rey, y dijo: ¿Y quién hay fiel entre todos sus siervos como lo es David, yerno del rey, y que va por tu mandado, y es ilustre en tu casa?

15 H ave I to-day begun to inquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute anything unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father; for thy servant knoweth nothing of all this, less or more.

¿He comenzado yo desde hoy a consultar por él a Dios? Lejos sea de mí; no impute el rey cosa alguna a su siervo, ni a toda la casa de mi padre; porque tu siervo ninguna cosa sabe de este negocio, grande ni chica.

16 A nd the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father's house.

Y el rey dijo: Sin duda morirás, Ahimelec, tú y toda la casa de tu padre.

17 A nd the king said unto the guard that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of Jehovah; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew that he fled, and did not disclose it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of Jehovah.

Entonces dijo el rey a la gente de su guardia que estaba alrededor de él: Cercad y matad a los sacerdotes del SEÑOR; porque también la mano de ellos es también con David, pues sabiendo ellos que huía, no me lo descubrieron. Mas los siervos del rey no quisieron extender sus manos para matar a los sacerdotes del SEÑOR.

18 A nd the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and he slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

Entonces el rey dijo a Doeg: Vuelve tú, y arremete contra los sacerdotes. Y revolviéndose Doeg idumeo, arremetió contra los sacerdotes, y mató en aquel día ochenta y cinco varones que vestían efod de lino.

19 A nd Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen and asses and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

Y a Nob, ciudad de los sacerdotes, puso a espada; así a hombres como a mujeres, niños y mamantes, bueyes y asnos y ovejas, todo a espada.

20 A nd one of the sons of Ahimelech, the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.

¶ Mas uno de los hijos de Ahimelec hijo de Ahitob, que se llamaba Abiatar, escapó, y el cual huyó tras David.

21 A nd Abiathar told David that Saul had slain Jehovah's priests.

Y Abiatar dio las nuevas a David como Saúl había dado muerte a los sacerdotes del SEÑOR.

22 A nd David said unto Abiathar, I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father's house.

Y dijo David a Abiatar: Yo sabía que estando allí aquel día Doeg el idumeo, él lo había de hacer saber a Saúl. Yo he dado causa ante Saúl contra todas las personas de la casa de tu padre.

23 A bide thou with me, fear not; for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: for with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

Quédate conmigo, no temas; quien buscare mi vida, buscará también la tuya; bien que tú estarás conmigo guardado.
