1 A t that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

En aquel tiempo Abías hijo de Jeroboam cayó enfermo.

2 A nd Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, who spake concerning me that I should be king over this people.

Y dijo Jeroboam a su mujer: «Levántate ahora y disfrázate, para que no reconozcan que eres la mujer de Jeroboam, y ve a Silo, porque allá está el profeta Ahías, el que me dijo que yo sería rey de este pueblo.

3 A nd take with thee ten loaves, and cakes, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he will tell thee what shall become of the child.

Toma en tus manos diez panes, tortas y una vasija de miel, y acude a él, para que te declare lo que ha de ser de este niño.»

4 A nd Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

La mujer de Jeroboam lo hizo así; se levantó, fue a Silo y llegó a la casa de Ahías. Ahías ya no podía ver, porque sus ojos se habían oscurecido a causa de la vejez.

5 A nd Jehovah said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to inquire of thee concerning her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her; for it will be, when she cometh in, that she will feign herself to be another woman.

Pero Jehová había dicho a Ahías: «Mira, la mujer de Jeroboam vendrá a consultarte sobre su hijo que está enfermo. Así y así le responderás, pues cuando ella llegue, vendrá disfrazada.»

6 A nd it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.

Cuando Ahías oyó el sonido de sus pies al entrar ella por la puerta, dijo: «Entra, mujer de Jeroboam. ¿Por qué te finges otra? Me han enviado a tu presencia con una revelación dura.

7 G o, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel,

Ve y dile a Jeroboam: “Así dijo Jehová, Dios de Israel: Yo te levanté de en medio del pueblo, y te hice príncipe de mi pueblo Israel.

8 a nd rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee; and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes,

Le quité el reino a la casa de David y te lo entregué a ti. Pero tú no has sido como David, mi siervo, que guardó mis mandamientos y anduvo en pos de mí con todo su corazón, haciendo solamente lo recto delante de mis ojos,

9 b ut hast done evil above all that were before thee, and hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:

sino que hiciste más mal que todos los que te han precedido, pues fuiste y te hiciste dioses ajenos e imágenes de fundición para enojarme, y a mí me has despreciado.

10 t herefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam every man-child, him that is shut up and him that is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweepeth away dung, till it be all gone.

Por tanto, voy a traer el mal sobre la casa de Jeroboam: extirparé todos los hombres a la casa de Jeroboam en Israel, tanto el siervo como el libre. Barreré la descendencia de la casa de Jeroboam como se barre el estiércol, hasta que no quede nada.

11 H im that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the birds of the heavens eat: for Jehovah hath spoken it.

Al que muera de los de Jeroboam en la ciudad lo comerán los perros, y al que muera en el campo, lo comerán las aves del cielo, porque Jehová lo ha dicho.”

12 A rise thou therefore, get thee to thy house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

En cuanto a ti, levántate y vete a tu casa. Al poner tu pie en la ciudad, morirá el niño.

13 A nd all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Jehovah, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

Todo Israel hará por él lamentación y lo enterrarán, pues de los descendientes de Jeroboam sólo él será sepultado, por cuanto de la casa de Jeroboam sólo en él se ha hallado alguna cosa buena delante de Jehová, Dios de Israel.

14 M oreover Jehovah will raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day: but what? even now.

Y Jehová levantará para sí un rey en Israel que extirpará en este día la casa de Jeroboam; y lo hará ahora mismo.

15 F or Jehovah will smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherim, provoking Jehovah to anger.

Jehová sacudirá a Israel al modo como la caña se agita en las aguas, arrancará a Israel de esta buena tierra que había dado a sus padres, y los esparcirá más allá del Éufrates, por cuanto han hecho sus imágenes de Asera, enojando a Jehová.

16 A nd he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he hath sinned, and wherewith he hath made Israel to sin.

Él entregará a Israel por los pecados de Jeroboam, quien pecó y ha hecho pecar a Israel.»

17 A nd Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and as she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.

Entonces la mujer de Jeroboam se levantó, se marchó y entró a Tirsa. Cuando cruzó el umbral de la casa, el niño murió.

18 A nd all Israel buried him, and mourned for him, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the prophet.

Lo enterraron, y todo Israel hizo lamento por él, conforme a la palabra de Jehová, la que él había anunciado por medio de su siervo, el profeta Ahías.

19 A nd the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

Los demás hechos de Jeroboam, las guerras que hizo, y cómo reinó, todo está escrito en el libro de las historias de los reyes de Israel.

20 A nd the days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.

El tiempo que reinó Jeroboam fue de veintidós años. Cuando durmió con sus padres, reinó en su lugar su hijo Nadab. Reinado de Roboam

21 A nd Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Jehovah had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

Roboam hijo de Salomón reinó en Judá. De cuarenta y un años era Roboam cuando comenzó a reinar; diecisiete años reinó en Jerusalén, ciudad que Jehová eligió entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner allí su nombre. El nombre de su madre era Naama, amonita.

22 A nd Judah did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.

Judá hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová y lo enojaron con los pecados que cometieron más que todo lo que hicieron sus padres.

23 F or they also built them high places, and pillars, and Asherim, on every high hill, and under every green tree;

También ellos se edificaron lugares altos, estatuas e imágenes de Asera, en todo collado alto y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

24 a nd there were also sodomites in the land: they did according to all the abominations of the nations which Jehovah drove out before the children of Israel.

Hubo también sodomitas en la tierra, que cometieron todas las abominaciones de las naciones que Jehová había echado de delante de los hijos de Israel.

25 A nd it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;

Al quinto año del rey Roboam subió Sisac, rey de Egipto, contra Jerusalén,

26 a nd he took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

tomó los tesoros de la casa de Jehová, los tesoros de la casa real, y lo saqueó todo. También se llevó todos los escudos de oro que Salomón había hecho.

27 A nd king Rehoboam made in their stead shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house.

En lugar de ellos, el rey Roboam hizo escudos de bronce y se los dio a los capitanes de la guardia que custodiaban la puerta de la casa real.

28 A nd it was so, that, as oft as the king went into the house of Jehovah, the guard bare them, and brought them back into the guard-chamber.

Cuando el rey entraba en la casa de Jehová, los de la guardia los llevaban, y después volvían a ponerlos en la sala de la guardia.

29 N ow the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos de Roboam, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está escrito en las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

30 A nd there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

Todos los días hubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam.

31 A nd Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.

Roboam durmió con sus padres y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David. El nombre de su madre era Naama, amonita. Reinó en su lugar Abiam, su hijo.
