1 O n that day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

Aquel día salió Jesús de la casa y se sentó junto al mar.

2 A nd there were gathered unto him great multitudes, so that he entered into a boat, and sat; and all the multitude stood on the beach.

Se le acercó mucha gente, así que él, entrando en la barca, se sentó, y toda la gente estaba en la playa.

3 A nd he spake to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went forth to sow;

Les habló muchas cosas por parábolas, diciendo: «El sembrador salió a sembrar.

4 a nd as he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the birds came and devoured them:

Mientras sembraba, parte de la semilla cayó junto al camino, y vinieron las aves y la comieron.

5 a nd others fell upon the rocky places, where they had not much earth: and straightway they sprang up, because they had no deepness of earth:

Parte cayó en pedregales, donde no había mucha tierra, y brotó pronto, porque no tenía profundidad de tierra;

6 a nd when the sun was risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

pero cuando salió el sol, se quemó y, como no tenía raíz, se secó.

7 A nd others fell upon the thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked them:

Parte cayó entre espinos, y los espinos crecieron y la ahogaron.

8 a nd others fell upon the good ground, and yielded fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Pero parte cayó en buena tierra, y dio fruto, cuál a ciento, cuál a sesenta y cuál a treinta por uno.

9 H e that hath ears, let him hear.

El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga.» Propósito de las parábolas

10 A nd the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

Entonces, acercándose los discípulos, le preguntaron: —¿Por qué les hablas por parábolas?

11 A nd he answered and said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

Él, respondiendo, les dijo: —Porque a vosotros os es dado saber los misterios del reino de los cielos, pero a ellos no les es dado,

12 F or whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he hath.

pues a cualquiera que tiene, se le dará y tendrá más; pero al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.

13 T herefore speak I to them in parables; because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

Por eso les hablo por parábolas: porque viendo no ven, y oyendo no oyen ni entienden.

14 A nd unto them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive:

De manera que se cumple en ellos la profecía de Isaías, que dijo: »“De oído oiréis, y no entenderéis; y viendo veréis, y no percibiréis,

15 F or this people's heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest haply they should perceive with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should turn again, And I should heal them.

porque el corazón de este pueblo se ha entorpecido, y con los oídos oyen pesadamente, y han cerrado sus ojos; para que no vean con los ojos, ni oigan con los oídos, ni con el corazón entiendan, ni se conviertan y yo los sane.”

16 B ut blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.

»Pero bienaventurados vuestros ojos, porque ven; y vuestros oídos, porque oyen.

17 F or verily I say unto you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which ye see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye hear, and heard them not.

De cierto os digo que muchos profetas y justos desearon ver lo que veis, y no lo vieron; y oír lo que oís, y no lo oyeron. Jesús explica la parábola del sembrador

18 H ear then ye the parable of the sower.

»Oíd, pues, vosotros la parábola del sembrador:

19 W hen any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the evil one, and snatcheth away that which hath been sown in his heart. This is he that was sown by the way side.

Cuando alguno oye la palabra del Reino y no la entiende, viene el malo y arrebata lo que fue sembrado en su corazón. Éste es el que fue sembrado junto al camino.

20 A nd he that was sown upon the rocky places, this is he that heareth the word, and straightway with joy receiveth it;

El que fue sembrado en pedregales es el que oye la palabra y al momento la recibe con gozo,

21 y et hath he not root in himself, but endureth for a while; and when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway he stumbleth.

pero no tiene raíz en sí, sino que es de corta duración, pues al venir la aflicción o la persecución por causa de la palabra, luego tropieza.

22 A nd he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

El que fue sembrado entre espinos es el que oye la palabra, pero las preocupaciones de este siglo y el engaño de las riquezas ahogan la palabra, y se hace infructuosa.

23 A nd he that was sown upon the good ground, this is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who verily beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Pero el que fue sembrado en buena tierra es el que oye y entiende la palabra, y da fruto; y produce a ciento, a sesenta y a treinta por uno. Parábola del trigo y la cizaña

24 A nother parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man that sowed good seed in his field:

Les refirió otra parábola, diciendo: «El reino de los cielos es semejante a un hombre que sembró buena semilla en su campo;

25 b ut while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares also among the wheat, and went away.

pero mientras dormían los hombres, vino su enemigo y sembró cizaña entre el trigo, y se fue.

26 B ut when the blade sprang up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

Cuando brotó la hierba y dio fruto, entonces apareció también la cizaña.

27 A nd the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? whence then hath it tares?

Fueron entonces los siervos del padre de familia y le dijeron: “Señor, ¿no sembraste buena semilla en tu campo? ¿Cómo, pues, tiene cizaña?”

28 A nd he said unto them, An enemy hath done this. And the servants say unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

Él les dijo: “Un enemigo ha hecho esto.” Y los siervos le dijeron: “¿Quieres, pues, que vayamos y la arranquemos?”

29 B ut he saith, Nay; lest haply while ye gather up the tares, ye root up the wheat with them.

Él les dijo: “No, no sea que al arrancar la cizaña arranquéis también con ella el trigo.

30 L et both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.

Dejad crecer juntamente lo uno y lo otro hasta la siega, y al tiempo de la siega yo diré a los segadores: ‘Recoged primero la cizaña y atadla en manojos para quemarla; pero recoged el trigo en mi granero.’”» Parábola de la semilla de mostaza

31 A nother parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

Otra parábola les refirió, diciendo: «El reino de los cielos es semejante al grano de mostaza que un hombre tomó y sembró en su campo.

32 w hich indeed is less than all seeds; but when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and lodge in the branches thereof.

Ésta es a la verdad la más pequeña de todas las semillas, pero cuando ha crecido es la mayor de las hortalizas y se hace árbol, de tal manera que vienen las aves del cielo y hacen nidos en sus ramas.» Parábola de la levadura

33 A nother parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened.

Otra parábola les dijo: «El reino de los cielos es semejante a la levadura que tomó una mujer y escondió en tres medidas de harina, hasta que todo quedó leudado.» Uso que Jesús hace de las parábolas

34 A ll these things spake Jesus in parables unto the multitudes; and without a parable spake he nothing unto them:

Todo esto habló Jesús por parábolas a la gente, y sin parábolas no les hablaba,

35 t hat it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.

para que se cumpliera lo que dijo el profeta: «Abriré en parábolas mi boca; declararé cosas escondidas desde la fundación del mundo.» Jesús explica la parábola de la cizaña

36 T hen he left the multitudes, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Explain unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

Entonces, después de despedir a la gente, entró Jesús en la casa. Se le acercaron sus discípulos y le dijeron: —Explícanos la parábola de la cizaña del campo.

37 A nd he answered and said, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

Respondiendo él, les dijo: —El que siembra la buena semilla es el Hijo del hombre.

38 a nd the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one;

El campo es el mundo; la buena semilla son los hijos del Reino, y la cizaña son los hijos del malo.

39 a nd the enemy that sowed them is the devil: and the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels.

El enemigo que la sembró es el diablo; la siega es el fin del mundo, y los segadores son los ángeles.

40 A s therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the end of the world.

De manera que, así como se arranca la cizaña y se quema en el fuego, así será en el fin de este mundo.

41 T he Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and them that do iniquity,

Enviará el Hijo del hombre a sus ángeles, y recogerán de su Reino a todos los que sirven de tropiezo y a los que hacen maldad,

42 a nd shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

y los echarán en el horno de fuego; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.

43 T hen shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear.

Entonces los justos resplandecerán como el sol en el reino de su Padre. El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga. Parábola del tesoro escondido

44 T he kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in the field; which a man found, and hid; and in his joy he goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

»Además el reino de los cielos es semejante a un tesoro escondido en un campo, el cual un hombre halla y lo esconde de nuevo; y gozoso por ello va y vende todo lo que tiene y compra aquel campo. La perla preciosa

45 A gain, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a merchant seeking goodly pearls:

»También el reino de los cielos es semejante a un comerciante que busca buenas perlas,

46 a nd having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

y al hallar una perla preciosa, fue y vendió todo lo que tenía y la compró. Parábola de la red

47 A gain, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

»Asimismo el reino de los cielos es semejante a una red que, echada al mar, recoge toda clase de peces.

48 w hich, when it was filled, they drew up on the beach; and they sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but the bad they cast away.

Cuando está llena, la sacan a la orilla, se sientan y recogen lo bueno en cestas y echan fuera lo malo.

49 S o shall it be in the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the righteous,

Así será al fin del mundo: saldrán los ángeles y apartarán a los malos de entre los justos,

50 a nd shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

y los echarán en el horno de fuego; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes. Tesoros nuevos y viejos

51 H ave ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea.

Jesús les preguntó: —¿Habéis entendido todas estas cosas? Ellos respondieron: —Sí, Señor.

52 A nd he said unto them, Therefore every scribe who hath been made a disciple to the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

Él les dijo: —Por eso todo escriba docto en el reino de los cielos es semejante a un padre de familia que saca de su tesoro cosas nuevas y cosas viejas. Jesús en Nazaret

53 A nd it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.

Aconteció que cuando terminó Jesús estas parábolas, se fue de allí.

54 A nd coming into his own country he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

Vino a su tierra y les enseñaba en la sinagoga de ellos, de tal manera que se maravillaban y decían: —¿De dónde saca éste esta sabiduría y estos milagros?

55 I s not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?

¿No es éste el hijo del carpintero? ¿No se llama su madre María, y sus hermanos, Jacobo, José, Simón y Judas?

56 A nd his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

¿No están todas sus hermanas con nosotros? ¿De dónde, pues, saca éste todas estas cosas?

57 A nd they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and in his own house.

Y se escandalizaban de él. Pero Jesús les dijo: —No hay profeta sin honra, sino en su propia tierra y en su casa.

58 A nd he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Y no hizo allí muchos milagros debido a la incredulidad de ellos.
