1 A nd after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took the bridle of the mother city out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 A nd he smote Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

Derrotó también a los de Moab, y los midió con una cuerda, haciéndolos tenderse en tierra; los que quedaban a lo largo de dos cuerdas los condenó a morir, y a una cuerda llena la dejó con vida. Y fueron los moabitas siervos de David, pagando tributo.

3 D avid smote also Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion at the River.

Asimismo derrotó David a Hadad-ezer hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba, al ir éste a recuperar su territorio al río Éufrates.

4 A nd David took from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hocked all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for a hundred chariots.

David les capturó mil setecientos hombres de a caballo y veinte mil hombres de a pie, y mutiló los caballos de todos los carros, pero dejó suficientes para cien carros.

5 A nd when the Syrians of Damascus came to succor Hadadezer king of Zobah, David smote of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

Y vinieron los sirios de Damasco para dar ayuda a Hadad-ezer, rey de Soba; pero David hirió a veintidós mil hombres entre los sirios.

6 T hen David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went.

Puso luego David una guarnición en Siria de Damasco, y los sirios quedaron sometidos a David, pagando tributo. Y Jehová dio la victoria a David por dondequiera que fue.

7 A nd David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

Después tomó David los escudos de oro que traían los siervos de Hadad-ezer y los llevó a Jerusalén.

8 A nd from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.

Asimismo tomó el rey David gran cantidad de bronce de Beta y de Berotai, ciudades de Hadad-ezer.

9 A nd when Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

Toi, rey de Hamat, supo que David había derrotado a todo el ejército de Hadad-ezer,

10 t hen Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

y le envió a su hijo Joram para que lo saludara pacíficamente y lo bendijera, porque había peleado con Hadad-ezer y lo había vencido, ya que Toi era enemigo de Hadad-ezer. Joram llevaba en su mano utensilios de plata, de oro y de bronce,

11 T hese also did king David dedicate unto Jehovah, with the silver and gold that he dedicated of all the nations which he subdued;

12 o f Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13 A nd David gat him a name when he returned from smiting the Syrians in the Valley of Salt, even eighteen thousand men.

Así ganó David fama. Cuando regresaba de derrotar a los sirios, destrozó a dieciocho mil edomitas en el valle de la Sal.

14 A nd he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went.

15 A nd David reigned over all Israel; and David executed justice and righteousness unto all his people.

16 A nd Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

Joab hijo de Sarvia era general de su ejército, y Josafat hijo de Ahilud, el cronista;

17 a nd Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Seraiah was scribe;

Sadoc hijo de Ahitob y Ahimelec hijo de Abiatar eran sacerdotes; Seraías, el escriba;

18 a nd Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief ministers.

Benaía hijo de Joiada mandaba a los cereteos y peleteos, y los hijos de David eran los príncipes.
