1 I n those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, Set thy house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.

En aquellos días Ezequías cayó enfermo de muerte. Y el profeta Isaías hijo de Amoz fue a verlo y le dijo: —Jehová dice así: “Ordena tu casa, porque vas a morir, ya no vivirás.”

2 T hen he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto Jehovah, saying,

Entonces él volvió su rostro a la pared y oró así a Jehová:

3 R emember now, O Jehovah, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

«Te ruego, Jehová, te ruego que hagas memoria de que he andado fielmente delante de ti y con corazón íntegro, que he hecho las cosas que te agradan.» Y Ezequías lloró amargamente.

4 A nd it came to pass, before Isaiah was gone out into the middle part of the city, that the word of Jehovah came to him, saying,

Y antes que Isaías saliera hasta la mitad del patio, le habló Jehová a Isaías y le dijo:

5 T urn back, and say to Hezekiah the prince of my people, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee; on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of Jehovah.

«Vuelve, y dile a Ezequías, príncipe de mi pueblo: “Así dice Jehová, el Dios de David, tu padre: He oído tu oración, he visto tus lágrimas y voy a sanarte: dentro de tres días subirás a la casa de Jehová.

6 A nd I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

Añadiré a tus días quince años y te libraré a ti y a esta ciudad de manos del rey de Asiria. Ampararé a esta ciudad por amor a mí mismo y por amor a David, mi siervo.”»

7 A nd Isaiah said, Take a cake of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.

Isaías dijo: —Tomad una masa de higos. La tomaron, la pusieron sobre la llaga y sanó.

8 A nd Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that Jehovah will heal me, and that I shall go up unto the house of Jehovah the third day?

Y Ezequías había dicho a Isaías: —¿Qué señal tendré de que Jehová me sanará y que dentro de tres días subiré a la casa de Jehová?

9 A nd Isaiah said, This shall be the sign unto thee from Jehovah, that Jehovah will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?

Respondió Isaías: —Esta señal tendrás de Jehová, de que Jehová hará lo que ha dicho: ¿Quieres que la sombra avance diez grados o que retroceda diez grados?

10 A nd Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to decline ten steps: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten steps.

Ezequías respondió: —Fácil cosa es que la sombra decline diez grados, pero no que la sombra retroceda diez grados.

11 A nd Isaiah the prophet cried unto Jehovah; and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the dial of Ahaz.

Entonces el profeta Isaías clamó a Jehová, e hizo retroceder la sombra los diez grados que había avanzado en el reloj de Acaz. Ezequías recibe a los enviados de Babilonia

12 A t that time Berodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah; for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

En aquel tiempo Merodac-baladán hijo de Baladán, rey de Babilonia, envió mensajeros con cartas y presentes a Ezequías, porque había oído que Ezequías había caído enfermo.

13 A nd Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.

Ezequías los atendió y les mostró toda la casa de sus tesoros, la plata y el oro, las especias y ungüentos preciosos, su depósito de armas y todo lo que había en sus tesoros. Ninguna cosa quedó que Ezequías no les mostrara, tanto en su casa como en todos sus dominios.

14 T hen came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.

Entonces el profeta Isaías fue a ver al rey Ezequías, y le preguntó: —¿De dónde vinieron esos hombres y qué te dijeron? Ezequías le respondió: —De lejanas tierras han venido, de Babilonia.

15 A nd he said, What have they seen in thy house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them.

Isaías le volvió a preguntar: —¿Qué vieron en tu casa? Ezequías respondió: —Vieron todo lo que había en mi casa. Nada quedó en mis tesoros que no les mostrara.

16 A nd Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of Jehovah.

Entonces Isaías dijo a Ezequías: —Oye esta palabra de Jehová:

17 B ehold, the days come, that all that is in thy house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith Jehovah.

“Vienen días en que todo lo que está en tu casa y todo lo que tus padres han atesorado hasta hoy será llevado a Babilonia, sin quedar nada, dice Jehová.

18 A nd of thy sons that shall issue from thee, whom thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

Y algunos de los hijos que salgan de ti, que hayas engendrado, los tomarán para que sean eunucos en el palacio del rey de Babilonia.”

19 T hen said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of Jehovah which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, Is it not so, if peace and truth shall be in my days?

Entonces Ezequías dijo a Isaías: —La palabra que has hablado de parte de Jehová es buena. Pues pensaba: «Al menos en mis días habrá paz y seguridad.» Muerte de Ezequías

20 N ow the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos de Ezequías, sus proezas y cómo hizo el estanque y el conducto para dotar de agua a la ciudad, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

21 A nd Hezekiah slept with his fathers; and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

Ezequías durmió con sus padres, y en su lugar reinó su hijo Manasés.
