1 A nd Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

Jehová habló a Moisés y le dijo:

2 A venge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.

«Ejecuta la venganza de los hijos de Israel contra los madianitas; después irás a reunirte con tu pueblo.»

3 A nd Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm ye men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian, to execute Jehovah's vengeance on Midian.

Entonces Moisés dijo al pueblo: «Armaos algunos de vosotros para la guerra contra Madián, y vayan a ejecutar la venganza de Jehová en Madián.

4 O f every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.

Enviaréis a la guerra a mil de cada tribu de todas las tribus de los hijos de Israel.»

5 S o there were delivered, out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.

Así fueron aportados, de los millares de Israel, mil por cada tribu: doce mil hombres en pie de guerra.

6 A nd Moses sent them, a thousand of every tribe, to the war, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.

Moisés los envió a la guerra; mil de cada tribu envió. Finees, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, fue a la guerra con los vasos del santuario y con las trompetas en sus manos para tocar.

7 A nd they warred against Midian, as Jehovah commanded Moses; and they slew every male.

Pelearon contra Madián como Jehová lo mandó a Moisés, y mataron a todos los hombres.

8 A nd they slew the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

Además de estas víctimas, mataron también a los reyes de Madián, Evi, Requem, Zur, Hur y Reba: cinco reyes de Madián. También mataron a espada a Balaam hijo de Beor.

9 A nd the children of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones; and all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods, they took for a prey.

Los hijos de Israel se llevaron cautivas a las mujeres de los madianitas con sus niños, y les arrebataron todas sus bestias, todos sus ganados y bienes.

10 A nd all their cities in the places wherein they dwelt, and all their encampments, they burnt with fire.

Incendiaron todas sus ciudades, aldeas y habitaciones.

11 A nd they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of man and of beast.

Tomaron todo el despojo y todo el botín, tanto de hombres como de bestias,

12 A nd they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan at Jericho.

y llevaron los cautivos, el botín y los despojos ante Moisés, ante el sacerdote Eleazar y ante la congregación de los hijos de Israel, al campamento en los llanos de Moab, que están junto al Jordán, frente a Jericó.

13 A nd Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.

Salieron Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar, y todos los príncipes de la congregación, a recibirlos fuera del campamento.

14 A nd Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war.

Pero Moisés se enojó contra los capitanes del ejército, contra los jefes de millares y de centenas que volvían de la guerra.

15 A nd Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?

Les dijo Moisés: «¿Por qué habéis dejado con vida a todas las mujeres?

16 B ehold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of Jehovah.

Ellas, por consejo de Balaam, fueron causa de que los hijos de Israel pecaran contra Jehová en lo tocante a Baal-peor, y por eso hubo mortandad en la congregación de Jehová.

17 N ow therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

Matad, pues, ahora a todos los niños varones; matad también a toda mujer que haya tenido relaciones carnales con un hombre.

18 B ut all the women-children, that have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

Pero dejaréis con vida a todas las niñas entre las mujeres que no hayan conocido hombre.

19 A nd encamp ye without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, ye and your captives.

En cuanto a vosotros, cualquiera que haya dado muerte a una persona, y cualquiera que haya tocado un muerto, permaneced fuera del campamento siete días. Os purificaréis al tercer día y al séptimo, vosotros y vuestros cautivos.

20 A nd as to every garment, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats' hair, and all things made of wood, ye shall purify yourselves.

Asimismo purificaréis todo vestido, toda prenda de pieles, toda obra de pelo de cabra y todo utensilio de madera.» Repartición del botín

21 A nd Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war that went to the battle, This is the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses:

El sacerdote Eleazar dijo a los hombres de guerra que venían de la guerra: «Ésta es la ordenanza de la ley que Jehová ha mandado a Moisés:

22 h owbeit the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

Ciertamente el oro y la plata, el bronce, el hierro, el estaño y el plomo,

23 e verything that may abide the fire, ye shall make to go through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless it shall be purified with the water for impurity: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make to go through the water.

todo lo que resiste el fuego, por fuego lo haréis pasar, y quedará limpio, bien que en las aguas de purificación habrá de purificarse. Pero haréis pasar por agua todo lo que no resiste el fuego.

24 A nd ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean; and afterward ye shall come into the camp.

Además lavaréis vuestros vestidos el séptimo día, y así quedaréis limpios; después entraréis en el campamento.»

25 A nd Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

Jehová habló a Moisés y le dijo:

26 T ake the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the congregation;

«Sacad la cuenta del botín que se ha hecho, tanto de las personas como de las bestias, tú y el sacerdote Eleazar, y los jefes de los padres de la congregación.

27 a nd divide the prey into two parts: between the men skilled in war, that went out to battle, and all the congregation.

Luego partirás por mitades el botín entre los que pelearon, los que salieron a la guerra y toda la congregación.

28 A nd levy a tribute unto Jehovah of the men of war that went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the oxen, and of the asses, and of the flocks:

Apartarás para Jehová el tributo de los hombres de guerra que salieron a la guerra; uno por cada quinientos, tanto de las personas como de los bueyes, de los asnos como de las ovejas.

29 t ake it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for Jehovah's heave-offering.

De la mitad de ellos lo tomarás, y darás al sacerdote Eleazar la ofrenda de Jehová.

30 A nd of the children of Israel's half, thou shalt take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the asses, and of the flocks, even of all the cattle, and give them unto the Levites, that keep the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah.

De la mitad perteneciente a los hijos de Israel tomarás uno por cada cincuenta, de las personas, los bueyes, los asnos, las ovejas y de todo animal, y los darás a los levitas, que tienen el cuidado del tabernáculo de Jehová.»

31 A nd Moses and Eleazar the priest did as Jehovah commanded Moses.

Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar hicieron como Jehová mandó a Moisés.

32 N ow the prey, over and above the booty which the men of war took, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep,

El total del botín, sin contar lo que tomaron los hombres de guerra fue de seiscientas setenta y cinco mil ovejas,

33 a nd threescore and twelve thousand oxen,

setenta y dos mil bueyes,

34 a nd threescore and one thousand asses,

y sesenta y un mil asnos.

35 a nd thirty and two thousand persons in all, of the women that had not known man by lying with him.

En cuanto a las personas, las mujeres que no habían conocido hombre eran por todas treinta y dos mil.

36 A nd the half, which was the portion of them that went out to war, was in number three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep:

La mitad correspondiente a la parte de los que habían salido a la guerra sumó trescientas treinta y siete mil quinientas ovejas,

37 a nd Jehovah's tribute of the sheep was six hundred and threescore and fifteen.

y el tributo de las ovejas para Jehová fue de seiscientas setenta y cinco.

38 A nd the oxen were thirty and six thousand; of which Jehovah's tribute was threescore and twelve.

De los bueyes: treinta y seis mil; y de ellos el tributo para Jehová fue de setenta y dos.

39 A nd the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; of which Jehovah's tribute was threescore and one.

De los asnos: treinta mil quinientos; y de ellos el tributo para Jehová fue de sesenta y uno.

40 A nd the persons were sixteen thousand; of whom Jehovah's tribute was thirty and two persons.

De las personas: dieciséis mil; y de ellas el tributo para Jehová fue de treinta y dos personas.

41 A nd Moses gave the tribute, which was Jehovah's heave-offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

Moisés dio el tributo, para ofrenda reservada a Jehová, al sacerdote Eleazar, como Jehová lo mandó a Moisés.

42 A nd of the children of Israel's half, which Moses divided off from the men that warred,

La mitad perteneciente a los hijos de Israel, que apartó Moisés del botín de los hombres que habían ido a la guerra

43 ( now the congregation's half was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred sheep,

(la mitad para la congregación fue de trescientas treinta y siete mil quinientas ovejas,

44 a nd thirty and six thousand oxen,

treinta y seis mil bueyes,

45 a nd thirty thousand and five hundred asses,

treinta mil quinientos asnos

46 a nd sixteen thousand persons),

y dieciséis mil personas).

47 e ven of the children of Israel's half, Moses took one drawn out of every fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, that kept the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses.

De esta mitad, correspondiente a los hijos de Israel, tomó Moisés uno de cada cincuenta, tanto de las personas como de los animales, y los dio a los levitas, que tenían el cuidado del tabernáculo de Jehová, como Jehová lo había mandado a Moisés.

48 A nd the officers that were over the thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses;

Se acercaron a Moisés los jefes de las tropas de aquel ejército, los jefes de millares y de centenas,

49 a nd they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war that are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.

y dijeron a Moisés: «Tus siervos han hecho el recuento de los hombres de guerra que están a cargo nuestro, y no falta ninguno.

50 A nd we have brought Jehovah's oblation, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, ankle-chains, and bracelets, signet-rings, ear-rings, and armlets, to make atonement for our souls before Jehovah.

Por lo cual hemos traído a Jehová como ofrenda lo que cada uno ha hallado: alhajas de oro, brazaletes, manillas, anillos, zarcillos y cadenas, para hacer expiación por nuestras almas delante de Jehová.»

51 A nd Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels.

Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron de ellos el oro y las alhajas, todas elaboradas.

52 A nd all the gold of the heave-offering that they offered up to Jehovah, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.

Todo el oro de la ofrenda que ofrecieron a Jehová los jefes de millares y de centenas sumó 16. 750 siclos.

53 ( For the men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.)

Los hombres del ejército habían tomado cada uno su botín.

54 A nd Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tent of meeting, for a memorial for the children of Israel before Jehovah.

Recibieron, pues, Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar el oro de los jefes de millares y de centenas, y lo llevaron al Tabernáculo de reunión, como memorial de los hijos de Israel delante de Jehová.
