1 A nd in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, into covenant with him.

En el séptimo año se animó Joiada y concertó una alianza con los jefes de centenas: Azarías hijo de Jeroham, Ismael hijo de Johanán, Azarías hijo de Obed, Maasías hijo de Adaía y Elisafat hijo de Zicri,

2 A nd they went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the heads of fathers' houses of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.

los cuales recorrieron el país de Judá, y reunieron a los levitas de todas las ciudades de Judá y a los príncipes de las familias de Israel y vinieron a Jerusalén.

3 A nd all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said unto them, Behold, the king's son shall reign, as Jehovah hath spoken concerning the sons of David.

Toda la multitud hizo pacto con el rey en la casa de Dios. Y Joiada les dijo: «Aquí está el hijo del rey, que ha de reinar, como dijo Jehová respecto a los hijos de David.

4 T his is the thing that ye shall do: a third part of you, that come in on the sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be porters of the thresholds;

Ahora haced esto: una tercera parte de vosotros, los que entran el sábado, estarán de porteros con los sacerdotes y los levitas.

5 a nd a third part shall be at the king's house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of Jehovah.

Otra tercera parte estará en la casa del rey; y la otra tercera parte, se quedará a la puerta del Cimiento; y todo el pueblo estará en los patios de la casa de Jehová.

6 B ut let none come into the house of Jehovah, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites; they shall come in, for they are holy: but all the people shall keep the charge of Jehovah.

Y ninguno entre en la casa de Jehová, sino los sacerdotes y levitas que ministran; estos entrarán, porque están consagrados; y todo el pueblo hará guardia delante de Jehová.

7 A nd the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever cometh into the house, let him be slain: and be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out.

Y los levitas rodearán al rey por todas partes, y cada uno tendrá sus armas en la mano; cualquiera que entre en la casa, que muera; y estaréis con el rey cuando entre y cuando salga.»

8 S o the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men, those that were to come in on the sabbath; with those that were to go out on the sabbath; for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses.

Los levitas y todo Judá lo hicieron todo como lo había mandado el sacerdote Joiada; y tomó cada jefe a los suyos, los que entraban el sábado, y los que salían el sábado; porque el sacerdote Joiada no dio licencia a las compañías.

9 A nd Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds the spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David's, which were in the house of God.

Dio también el sacerdote Joiada a los jefes de centenas las lanzas, los paveses y los escudos que habían sido del rey David, y que estaban en la casa de Dios;

10 A nd he set all the people, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, along by the altar and the house, by the king round about.

y puso en orden a todo el pueblo, teniendo cada uno su espada en la mano, desde el rincón derecho del Templo hasta el izquierdo, hacia el altar y la Casa, alrededor del rey por todas partes.

11 T hen they brought out the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony, and made him king: and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him; and they said, Long live the king.

Entonces sacaron al hijo del rey, le pusieron la corona y el Testimonio, y lo proclamaron rey; Joiada y sus hijos lo ungieron y gritaron: «¡Viva el rey!»

12 A nd when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of Jehovah:

Cuando Atalía oyó el estruendo de la gente que corría y de los que aclamaban al rey, vino a la casa de Jehová, donde estaba el pueblo;

13 a nd she looked, and, behold, the king stood by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpets by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets; the singers also played on instruments of music, and led the singing of praise. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason! treason!

miró y vio al rey que estaba junto a la columna, a la entrada, y a los príncipes y los trompeteros junto al rey, a todo el pueblo de la tierra, lleno de alegría, que tocaba bocinas, y a los cantores que, con instrumentos de música, dirigían la alabanza. Entonces Atalía rasgó sus vestidos, y dijo: «¡Traición! ¡Traición!»

14 A nd Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds that were set over the host, and said unto them, Have her forth between the ranks; and whoso followeth her, let him be slain with the sword: for the priest said, Slay her not in the house of Jehovah.

Pero el sacerdote Joiada mandó que salieran los jefes de centenas del ejército, y les ordenó: «Sacadla fuera del recinto, y al que la siga, matadlo a filo de espada»; porque el sacerdote había mandado que no la mataran en la casa de Jehová.

15 S o they made way for her; and she went to the entrance of the horse gate to the king's house: and they slew her there.

Así pues, ellos le echaron mano, y cuando hubo pasado la entrada de la puerta de los caballos de la casa del rey, allí la mataron.

16 A nd Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, and all the people, and the king, that they should be Jehovah's people.

Entonces Joiada pactó con todo el pueblo y el rey, que serían el pueblo de Jehová.

17 A nd all the people went to the house of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.

Después de esto entró todo el pueblo en el templo de Baal y lo derribaron; también rompieron sus altares, hicieron pedazos sus imágenes y mataron delante de los altares a Matán, sacerdote de Baal.

18 A nd Jehoiada appointed the officers of the house of Jehovah under the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of Jehovah, to offer the burnt-offerings of Jehovah, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, according to the order of David.

Luego puso Joiada una guardia en la casa de Jehová, bajo las órdenes de los sacerdotes y levitas, según David los había distribuido en la casa de Jehová, para ofrecer a Jehová los holocaustos, como está escrito en la ley de Moisés, con gozo y con cánticos, conforme a la disposición de David.

19 A nd he set the porters at the gates of the house of Jehovah, that none that was unclean in anything should enter in.

Puso también porteros en las puertas de la casa de Jehová, para que por ninguna vía entrara ninguno que estuviera impuro.

20 A nd he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of Jehovah: and they came through the upper gate unto the king's house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.

Llamó después a los jefes de centenas y a los principales, a los que gobernaban al pueblo y a todo el pueblo de la tierra, para conducir al rey desde la casa de Jehová. Cuando llegaron a la mitad de la puerta mayor de la casa del rey, sentaron al rey sobre el trono del reino.

21 S o all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. And Athaliah they had slain with the sword.

Y se regocijó todo el pueblo del país; y la ciudad estuvo tranquila después que mataron a Atalía a filo de espada.
