1 N ow the Philistines gathered together all their hosts to Aphek: and the Israelites encamped by the fountain which is in Jezreel.

Los filisteos reunieron todas sus fuerzas en Afec, e Israel acampó junto a la fuente que está en Jezreel.

2 A nd the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands; and David and his men passed on in the rearward with Achish.

Mientras los príncipes de los filisteos pasaban revista a sus compañías de a ciento y de a mil hombres, David y sus hombres iban en la retaguardia con Aquis.

3 T hen said the princes of the Philistines, What do these Hebrews here? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, who hath been with me these days, or rather these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell away unto me unto this day?

Entonces los príncipes de los filisteos dijeron: —¿Qué hacen aquí estos hebreos? Aquis respondió a los príncipes de los filisteos: —¿No ven que es David, el siervo de Saúl, rey de Israel? Ha estado conmigo por días y años, y no he hallado falta en él desde que se pasó a mi servicio hasta el día de hoy.

4 B ut he princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make the man return, that he may go back to his place where thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us: for wherewith should this fellow reconcile himself unto his lord? should it not be with the heads of these men?

Entonces los príncipes de los filisteos se enojaron contra él, y le dijeron: —Despide a este hombre, para que regrese al lugar que le señalaste y no venga con nosotros a la batalla, no sea que en la batalla se vuelva enemigo nuestro; porque ¿con qué cosa retornaría mejor a la gracia de su señor que con las cabezas de estos hombres?

5 I s not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands?

¿No es éste el David de quien cantaban en las danzas: “Saúl hirió a sus miles, y David a sus diez miles”?

6 T hen Achish called David, and said unto him, As Jehovah liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight; for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favor thee not.

Entonces Aquis llamó a David y le dijo: —¡Vive Jehová, tú has sido un hombre recto!, y me ha parecido bien que salgas y entres en el campamento conmigo, porque ninguna cosa mala he hallado en ti desde que viniste a mí hasta el día de hoy; pero no eres grato a los ojos de los príncipes.

7 W herefore now return, and go in peace, that thou displease not the lords of the Philistines.

Regresa, pues, y vete en paz, para no desagradar a los príncipes de los filisteos.

8 A nd David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant so long as I have been before thee unto this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?

David dijo a Aquis: —¿Qué he hecho yo? ¿Qué has hallado en tu siervo desde que entré a tu servicio hasta el día de hoy, para que yo no vaya y pelee contra los enemigos del rey, mi señor?

9 A nd Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.

Aquis respondió a David: —Sé que has sido bueno ante mis ojos, como un ángel de Dios; pero los príncipes de los filisteos me han dicho: “No venga con nosotros a la batalla.”

10 W herefore now rise up early in the morning with the servants of thy lord that are come with thee; and as soon as ye are up early in the morning, and have light, depart.

Levántate, pues, de mañana, tú y los siervos de tu señor que han venido contigo, y marchaos de aquí en cuanto amanezca.

11 S o David rose up early, he and his men, to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

Se levantaron David y sus hombres de mañana para irse y regresar a la tierra de los filisteos; y los filisteos se fueron a Jezreel.
