1 A nd all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, by their journeys, according to the commandment of Jehovah, and encamped in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.

Toda la congregación de los Israelitas marchó por jornadas desde el desierto de Sin, conforme al mandamiento del Señor. Acamparon en Refidim, y no había agua para que el pueblo bebiera.

2 W herefore the people stove with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why strive ye with me? Wherefore do ye tempt Jehovah?

Entonces el pueblo discutió con Moisés, y le dijeron: “Danos agua para beber.” “¿Por qué discuten conmigo?” les dijo Moisés. “¿Por qué tientan al Señor ?”

3 A nd the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore hast thou brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

Pero el pueblo tuvo sed allí, y murmuró el pueblo contra Moisés, y dijo: “¿Por qué nos has hecho subir de Egipto para matarnos de sed a nosotros, a nuestros hijos y a nuestros ganados ?”

4 A nd Moses cried unto Jehovah, saying, What shall I do unto this people? They are almost ready to stone me.

Y clamó Moisés al Señor y dijo: “¿Qué haré con este pueblo? Un poco más y me apedrearán.”

5 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Pass on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and they rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thy hand, and go.

Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: “Pasa delante del pueblo y toma contigo a algunos de los ancianos de Israel, y toma en tu mano la vara con la cual golpeaste el Nilo, y ve.

6 B ehold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Yo estaré allí delante de ti sobre la peña en Horeb. Golpearás la peña, y saldrá agua de ella para que beba el pueblo.” Y así lo hizo Moisés en presencia de los ancianos de Israel.

7 A nd he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the striving of the children of Israel, and because they tempted Jehovah, saying, Is Jehovah among us, or not?

Y puso a aquel lugar el nombre de Masah (Prueba) y Meriba (Contienda), por la contienda de los Israelitas, y porque tentaron al Señor, diciendo: “¿Está el Señor entre nosotros o no?” Guerra con Amalec

8 T hen came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.

Entonces vino Amalec y peleó contra Israel en Refidim.

9 A nd Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to-morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.

Y Moisés dijo a Josué: “Escógenos hombres, y sal a pelear contra Amalec. Mañana yo estaré sobre la cumbre de la colina con la vara de Dios en mi mano.”

10 S o Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

Josué hizo como Moisés le dijo, y peleó contra Amalec. Moisés, Aarón y Hur subieron a la cumbre de la colina.

11 A nd it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

Y sucedía que mientras Moisés tenía en alto su mano, Israel prevalecía; y cuando dejaba caer la mano, prevalecía Amalec.

12 B ut Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; And his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

Pero las manos de Moisés se le cansaban. Entonces tomaron una piedra y la pusieron debajo de él, y se sentó en ella. Y Aarón y Hur le sostenían las manos, uno de un lado y otro del otro. Así estuvieron sus manos firmes hasta que se puso el sol.

13 A nd Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

Josué deshizo a Amalec y a su pueblo a filo de espada.

14 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

Entonces dijo el Señor a Moisés: “Escribe esto en un libro para que sirva de memorial, y haz saber a Josué que Yo borraré por completo la memoria de Amalec de debajo del cielo.”

15 A nd Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi;

Y edificó Moisés un altar, y le puso por nombre El Señor es mi Estandarte,

16 A nd he said, Jehovah hath sworn: Jehovah will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.

y dijo: “El Señor lo ha jurado. El Señor hará guerra contra Amalec de generación en generación.”
