1 I n the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, and he fought against Ashdod and took it;

El año en que el comandante vino a Asdod, cuando Sargón, rey de Asiria, lo envió, peleó contra Asdod y la tomó.

2 a t that time Jehovah spake by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go, and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put thy shoe from off thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

En aquel tiempo el Señor habló por medio de Isaías, hijo de Amoz, y le dijo: “Ve y quítate el cilicio de tus lomos, y desata las sandalias de tus pies.” Así lo hizo Isaías, y anduvo desnudo y descalzo.

3 A nd Jehovah said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia;

Entonces el Señor dijo: “Tal como Mi siervo Isaías ha andado desnudo y descalzo por tres años como señal y símbolo contra Egipto y contra Cus (Etiopía),

4 s o shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt, and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

así el rey de Asiria llevará a los cautivos de Egipto y a los desterrados de Cus, jóvenes y viejos, desnudos, descalzos y con las nalgas descubiertas, para vergüenza de Egipto.

5 A nd they shall be dismayed and confounded, because of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

Entonces se desanimarán y se avergonzarán a causa de Cus, su esperanza, y de Egipto, su jactancia.

6 A nd the inhabitant of this coast-land shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and we, how shall we escape?

Y dirán los habitantes de esta costa en aquel día: ‘Así ha sido nuestra esperanza, adonde huíamos buscando auxilio para ser librados del rey de Asiria; ¿y cómo escaparemos nosotros ?’”
