1 F lee for safety, ye children of Benjamin, out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and raise up a signal on Beth-haccherem; for evil looketh forth from the north, and a great destruction.

¡Huyan, hijos de Benjamín, De en medio de Jerusalén! Toquen trompeta en Tecoa, Y alcen señal sobre Bet Haquerem, Porque desde el norte se asoma el mal Y una gran destrucción.

2 T he comely and delicate one, the daughter of Zion, will I cut off.

A la hermosa y delicada hija de Sion destruiré.

3 S hepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.

A ella vendrán pastores con sus rebaños, Levantarán sus tiendas a su alrededor, Y cada uno apacentará en su lugar.

4 P repare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day declineth, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.

Preparen guerra contra ella; Levántense y ataquemos al mediodía. ¡Ay de nosotros, porque el día declina, Porque se extienden las sombras del anochecer!

5 A rise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

Levántense, ataquemos de noche Y destruyamos sus palacios.”

6 F or thus hath Jehovah of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast up a mound against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

Porque así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “Corten sus árboles, Y pongan sitio contra Jerusalén. Esta es la ciudad que ha de ser castigada, Todo dentro de ella es opresión.

7 A s a well casteth forth its waters, so she casteth forth her wickedness: violence and destruction is heard in her; before me continually is sickness and wounds.

Como un pozo mantiene frescas sus aguas, Así ella mantiene fresca su maldad. En ella se oyen violencia y destrucción; Ante Mí hay de continuo enfermedades y heridas.

8 B e thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from thee; lest I make thee a desolation, a land not inhabited.

Sé precavida, oh Jerusalén, No sea que mi alma se aleje de ti; No sea que Yo te convierta en desolación, En tierra despoblada.”

9 T hus saith Jehovah of hosts, They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn again thy hand as a grape-gatherer into the baskets.

Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “Buscarán, rebuscarán como en una viña al remanente de Israel. Vuelve a pasar tu mano como un vendimiador Por los sarmientos.”

10 T o whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of Jehovah is become unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

¿A quiénes hablaré y advertiré, para que oigan? Sus oídos están cerrados, Y no pueden escuchar. La palabra del Señor les es oprobio; No se deleitan en ella.

11 T herefore I am full of the wrath of Jehovah; I am weary with holding in: pour it out upon the children in the street, and upon the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.

Pero estoy lleno del furor del Señor, Estoy cansado de retener lo. “Derráma lo sobre los niños en la calle, Y sobre la reunión de los jóvenes; Porque serán apresados tanto el marido como la mujer, El viejo y el muy anciano.

12 A nd their houses shall be turned unto others, their fields and their wives together; for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith Jehovah.

Sus casas serán entregadas a otros, Junto con sus campos y sus mujeres; Porque extenderé Mi mano Contra los habitantes de esta tierra,” declara el Señor.

13 F or from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

“Porque desde el menor hasta el mayor, Todos ellos codician ganancias, Y desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote, Todos practican el engaño.

14 T hey have healed also the hurt of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

Curan a la ligera el quebranto de Mi pueblo, Diciendo: ‘Paz, paz,’ Pero no hay paz.

15 W ere they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall; at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith Jehovah.

¿Se han avergonzado de la abominación que han cometido? Ciertamente no se han avergonzado, Ni aún han sabido ruborizarse; Por tanto caerán entre los que caigan; En la hora que Yo los castigue serán derribados,” dice el Señor.

16 T hus saith Jehovah, Stand ye in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way; and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls: but they said, We will not walk therein.

Así dice el Señor: “Párense en los caminos y miren, Y pregunten por los senderos antiguos, Cuál es el buen camino, y anden por él; Y hallarán descanso para sus almas. Pero dijeron: ‘No andaremos en él.’

17 A nd I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet; but they said, We will not hearken.

Entonces puse centinelas sobre ustedes, que dijeran: ‘Escuchen el sonido de la trompeta.’ Pero dijeron: ‘No escucharemos.’

18 T herefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.

Por tanto, oigan, naciones, Y entiende, congregación, lo que se hará entre ellos.

19 H ear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it.

Oye, tierra: Yo traigo una calamidad sobre este pueblo, El fruto de sus planes, Porque no han escuchado Mis palabras, Y han desechado Mi ley.

20 T o what purpose cometh there to me frankincense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing unto me.

¿Para qué viene a Mí este incienso de Sabá Y la dulce caña de una tierra lejana? Sus holocaustos no son aceptables, Y sus sacrificios no Me agradan.”

21 T herefore thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will lay stumbling-blocks before this people; and the fathers and the sons together shall stumble against them; the neighbor and his friend shall perish.

Por tanto, así dice el Señor: “Yo pongo piedras de tropiezo delante de este pueblo, Y tropezarán en ellas Padres e hijos a una; El vecino y su prójimo perecerán.”

22 T hus saith Jehovah, Behold, a people cometh from the north country; and a great nation shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

Así dice el Señor: “Viene un pueblo de tierras del norte, Y una gran nación se levantará de los confines de la tierra.

23 T hey lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea, and they ride upon horses, every one set in array, as a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Zion.

Empuñan arco y jabalina, Crueles son, no tienen misericordia; Sus voces braman como el mar, Y montan a caballo, Como hombres dispuestos para la guerra Contra ti, hija de Sion.”

24 W e have heard the report thereof; our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pangs as of a woman in travail.

Hemos oído de su fama, Flaquean nuestras manos. La angustia se ha apoderado de nosotros, Dolor como de mujer de parto.

25 G o not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy, and terror, are on every side.

No salgas al campo Ni andes por el camino, Porque espada tiene el enemigo, Hay terror por todas partes.

26 O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation; for the destroyer shall suddenly come upon us.

Hija de mi pueblo, cíñete el cilicio Y revuélcate en ceniza. Haz duelo como por hijo único, Lamento de gran amargura, Porque de pronto el destructor Vendrá sobre nosotros.

27 I have made thee a trier and a fortress among my people; that thou mayest know and try their way.

“Te he puesto como observador y como examinador entre Mi pueblo, Para que conozcas y examines su conducta.”

28 T hey are all grievous revolters, going about with slanders; they are brass and iron: they all of them deal corruptly.

Todos ellos son rebeldes obstinados Que andan calumniando. Son de hierro y bronce; Todos ellos están corrompidos.

29 T he bellows blow fiercely; the lead is consumed of the fire: in vain do they go on refining; for the wicked are not plucked away.

El fuelle sopla con furor, El plomo es consumido por el fuego; En vano se sigue refinando, Pues los malvados no son separados.

30 R efuse silver shall men them, because Jehovah hath rejected them.

Los llaman plata de deshecho, Porque el Señor los ha desechado.
