1 B ut a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

Pero cierto hombre llamado Ananías, con Safira su mujer, vendió una propiedad,

2 a nd kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

y se quedó con parte del precio, sabiéndolo también su mujer; y trayendo la otra parte, la puso a los pies de los apóstoles.

3 B ut Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

Pero Pedro dijo: “Ananías, ¿por qué ha llenado Satanás tu corazón para mentir al Espíritu Santo, y quedarte con parte del precio del terreno?

4 W hile it remained, did it not remain thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thy power? How is it that thou hast conceived this thing in thy heart? thou has not lied unto men, but unto God.

Mientras estaba sin venderse, ¿no te pertenecía? Y después de vendida, ¿no estaba bajo tu poder? ¿Por qué concebiste (pusiste) este asunto en tu corazón? No has mentido a los hombres sino a Dios.”

5 A nd Ananias hearing these words fell down and gave up the ghost: and great fear came upon all that heard it.

Al oír Ananías estas palabras, cayó y expiró; y vino un gran temor sobre todos los que lo supieron.

6 A nd the young men arose and wrapped him round, and they carried him out and buried him.

Entonces los jóvenes se levantaron y lo cubrieron, y sacándo lo, le dieron sepultura.

7 A nd it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

Como tres horas después entró su mujer, no sabiendo lo que había sucedido.

8 A nd Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much. And she said, Yea, for so much.

Y Pedro le preguntó: “Dime, ¿vendieron el terreno en tal precio?” “Sí, ése fue el precio,” dijo ella.

9 B ut Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to try the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them that have buried thy husband are at the door, and they shall carry thee out.

Entonces Pedro le dijo: “¿Por qué se pusieron de acuerdo para poner a prueba al Espíritu del Señor ? Mira, los pies de los hombres que sepultaron a tu marido están a la puerta, y te sacarán también a ti.”

10 A nd she fell down immediately at his feet, and gave up the ghost: and the young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her by her husband.

Al instante ella cayó a los pies de él, y expiró. Al entrar los jóvenes, la hallaron muerta; entonces la sacaron y le dieron sepultura junto a su marido.

11 A nd great fear came upon the whole church, and upon all that heard these things.

Y vino un gran temor sobre toda la iglesia y sobre todos los que supieron estas cosas. Muchas Señales y Prodigios

12 A nd by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

Por mano de los apóstoles se realizaban muchas señales (muchos milagros) y prodigios entre el pueblo; y acostumbraban a estar todos de común acuerdo en el pórtico de Salomón.

13 B ut of the rest durst no man join himself to them: howbeit the people magnified them;

Pero ninguno de los demás se atrevía a juntarse con ellos; sin embargo, el pueblo los tenía en gran estima.

14 a nd believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of them and women;

Y más y más creyentes en el Señor, multitud de hombres y de mujeres, se añadían constantemente al número de ellos,

15 i nsomuch that they even carried out the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that, as Peter came by, at the least his shadow might overshadow some one of them.

a tal punto que aun sacaban a los enfermos a las calles y los tendían en lechos y camillas, para que al pasar Pedro, siquiera su sombra cayera sobre alguno de ellos.

16 A nd there also came together the multitudes from the cities round about Jerusalem, bring sick folk, and them that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

También la gente (la multitud) de las ciudades en los alrededores de Jerusalén acudía trayendo enfermos y atormentados por espíritus inmundos, y todos eran sanados. En la Cárcel y Libres otra Vez

17 B ut the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy,

Pero levantándose el sumo sacerdote, y todos los que estaban con él, (es decir, la secta de los Saduceos ), se llenaron de celo.

18 a nd laid hands on the apostles, and put them in public ward.

Entonces echaron mano a los apóstoles y los pusieron en una cárcel pública.

19 B ut an angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them out, and said,

Pero durante la noche, un ángel del Señor, abrió las puertas de la cárcel y sacándolos, les dijo:

20 G o ye, and stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this Life.

“Vayan, preséntense en el templo, y hablen al pueblo todo el mensaje (todas las palabras) de esta Vida (la Vida eterna que Cristo reveló).”

21 A nd when they heard this, they entered into the temple about daybreak, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison-house to have them brought.

Habiendo oído esto, al amanecer entraron en el templo y enseñaban. Cuando llegaron el sumo sacerdote y los que estaban con él, convocaron al Concilio (Sanedrín), es decir, a todo el Senado de los Israelitas. Y mandaron traer de la cárcel a los apóstoles.

22 B ut the officers that came found them not in the prison; and they returned, and told,

Pero los guardias que fueron no los encontraron en la cárcel; volvieron, pues, y les informaron:

23 s aying, The prison-house we found shut in all safety, and the keepers standing at the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

“Encontramos la cárcel cerrada con toda seguridad y los guardias de pie a las puertas; pero cuando abrimos, a nadie hallamos dentro.”

24 N ow when the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these words, they were much perplexed concerning them whereunto this would grow.

Cuando oyeron estas palabras el capitán de la guardia del templo y los principales sacerdotes, se quedaron muy perplejos a causa de ellas, pensando en qué terminaría aquello.

25 A nd there came one and told them, Behold, the men whom ye put in the prison are in the temple standing and teaching the people.

Pero alguien se presentó y les informó: “Miren, los hombres que pusieron en la cárcel están en el templo enseñando al pueblo.”

26 T hen went the captain with the officers, and brought them, but without violence; for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.

Entonces el capitán fue con los guardias y los trajo sin violencia porque temían al pueblo, no fuera que los apedrearan.

27 A nd when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them,

Cuando los trajeron, los pusieron ante el Concilio (Sanedrín), y el sumo sacerdote los interrogó:

28 s aying, We strictly charged you not to teach in this name: and behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

“Les dimos órdenes estrictas de no continuar enseñando en este Nombre, y han llenado a Jerusalén con sus enseñanzas, y quieren traer sobre nosotros la sangre de este Hombre.”

29 B ut Peter and the apostles answered and said, We must obey God rather than men.

Pero Pedro y los apóstoles respondieron: “Debemos obedecer a Dios en vez de obedecer a los hombres.

30 T he God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, hanging him on a tree.

El Dios de nuestros padres (antepasados) resucitó a Jesús, a quien ustedes mataron y colgaron en una cruz (un madero).

31 H im did God exalt with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.

A El Dios Lo exaltó a Su diestra como Príncipe y Salvador, para dar arrepentimiento a Israel, y perdón de pecados.

32 A nd we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Y nosotros somos testigos (de El) de estas cosas; y también el Espíritu Santo, el cual Dios ha dado a los que Le obedecen.” El Consejo de Gamaliel

33 B ut they, when they heard this, were cut to the heart, and minded to slay them.

Cuando ellos oyeron esto, se sintieron profundamente ofendidos y querían matarlos.

34 B ut there stood up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in honor of all the people, and commanded to put the men forth a little while.

Pero cierto Fariseo llamado Gamaliel, maestro de la Ley, respetado por todo el pueblo, se levantó en el Concilio (Sanedrín) y ordenó que sacaran fuera a los apóstoles por un momento.

35 A nd he said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves as touching these men, what ye are about to do.

Entonces les dijo: “Hombres de Israel, tengan cuidado de lo que van a hacer con estos hombres.

36 F or before these days rose up Theudas, giving himself out to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were dispersed, and came to nought.

Porque hace algún tiempo Teudas se levantó pretendiendo ser alguien; y un grupo como de 400 hombres se unió a él. Y fue muerto, y todos los que lo seguían (obedecían) fueron dispersos y reducidos a nada.

37 A fter this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the enrolment, and drew away some of the people after him: he also perished; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered abroad.

Después de él, se levantó Judas de Galilea en los días del censo, y llevó mucha gente tras sí; él también pereció, y todos los que lo seguían se dispersaron.

38 A nd now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will be overthrown:

“Por tanto, en este caso les digo que no tengan nada que ver con estos hombres y déjenlos en paz, porque si este plan o acción es de los hombres, perecerá;

39 b ut if it is of God, ye will not be able to overthrow them; lest haply ye be found even to be fighting against God.

pero si es de Dios, no podrán destruirlos; no sea que se hallen luchando contra Dios.”

40 A nd to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles unto them, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

Ellos aceptaron su consejo, y después de llamar a los apóstoles, los azotaron y les ordenaron que no hablaran más en el nombre de Jesús y los soltaron.

41 T hey therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the Name.

Los apóstoles, pues, salieron de la presencia del Concilio (Sanedrín), regocijándose de que hubieran sido considerados dignos de sufrir afrenta por Su Nombre.

42 A nd every day, in the temple and at home, they ceased not to teach and to preach Jesus as the Christ.

Y todos los días, en el templo y de casa en casa, no cesaban de enseñar y proclamar el evangelio (las buenas nuevas) de Jesús como el Cristo (el Mesías).
