1 N ow all the publicans and sinners were drawing near unto him to hear him.

Todos los recaudadores de impuestos y los pecadores se acercaban para oír a Jesús.

2 A nd both the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

Y los Fariseos y los escribas murmuraban: “Este recibe a los pecadores y come con ellos ”.

3 A nd he spake unto them this parable, saying,

Entonces Jesús les dijo esta parábola:

4 W hat man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

“¿ Qué hombre de ustedes, si tiene cien ovejas y una de ellas se pierde, no deja las noventa y nueve en el campo y va tras la que está perdida hasta que la halla?

5 A nd when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

Al encontrar la, la pone sobre sus hombros, gozoso.

6 A nd when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and his neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.

Cuando llega a su casa, reúne a los amigos y a los vecinos, diciéndoles: ‘Alégrense conmigo, porque he hallado mi oveja que se había perdido.’

7 I say unto you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance.

Les digo que de la misma manera, habrá más gozo en el cielo por un pecador que se arrepiente que por noventa y nueve justos que no necesitan arrepentimiento. Parábola de la Moneda Perdida

8 O r what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently until she find it?

“¿O qué mujer, si tiene diez monedas de plata (salario de diez días) y pierde una moneda, no enciende una lámpara y barre la casa y busca con cuidado hasta hallar la ?

9 A nd when she hath found it, she calleth together her friends and neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I had lost.

Cuando la encuentra, reúne a las amigas y vecinas, diciendo: ‘Alégrense conmigo porque he hallado la moneda que había perdido.’

10 E ven so, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

De la misma manera, les digo, hay gozo en la presencia de los ángeles de Dios por un pecador que se arrepiente.” Parábola del Hijo Pródigo

11 A nd he said, A certain man had two sons:

Jesús añadió: “Cierto hombre tenía dos hijos;

12 a nd the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of thy substance that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

y el menor de ellos le dijo al padre: ‘Padre, dame la parte de la hacienda que me corresponde.’ Y él les repartió sus bienes.

13 A nd not many days after, the younger son gathered all together and took his journey into a far country; and there he wasted his substance with riotous living.

No muchos días después, el hijo menor, juntándolo todo, partió a un país lejano, y allí malgastó su hacienda viviendo perdidamente.

14 A nd when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that country; and he began to be in want.

Cuando lo había gastado todo, vino una gran hambre en aquel país, y comenzó a pasar necesidad.

15 A nd he went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

Entonces fue y se acercó a uno de los ciudadanos de aquel país, y él lo mandó a sus campos a apacentar cerdos.

16 A nd he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

Y deseaba llenarse el estómago de las algarrobas que comían los cerdos, pero nadie le daba nada.

17 B ut when he came to himself he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish here with hunger!

Entonces, volviendo en sí, dijo: ‘¡Cuántos de los trabajadores de mi padre tienen pan de sobra, pero yo aquí perezco de hambre!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight:

Me levantaré e iré a mi padre, y le diré: “Padre, he pecado contra el cielo y ante ti;

19 I am no more worthy to be called your son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

ya no soy digno de ser llamado hijo tuyo; hazme como uno de tus trabajadores.”’”

20 A nd he arose, and came to his father. But while he was yet afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

“Levantándose, fue a su padre. Cuando todavía estaba lejos, su padre lo vio y sintió compasión por él, y corrió, se echó sobre su cuello y lo besó.

21 A nd the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight: I am no more worthy to be called thy son.

Y el hijo le dijo: ‘Padre, he pecado contra el cielo y ante ti; ya no soy digno de ser llamado hijo tuyo.’

22 B ut the father said to his servants, Bring forth quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

Pero el padre dijo a sus siervos: ‘Pronto; traigan la mejor ropa y vístanlo; pónganle un anillo en su mano y sandalias en los pies.

23 a nd bring the fatted calf, and kill it, and let us eat, and make merry:

Traigan el becerro engordado, máten lo, y comamos y regocijémonos;

24 f or this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

porque este hijo mío estaba muerto y ha vuelto a la vida; estaba perdido y ha sido hallado.’ Y comenzaron a regocijarse.

25 N ow his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.

“Su hijo mayor estaba en el campo, y cuando vino y se acercó a la casa, oyó música y danzas.

26 A nd he called to him one of the servants, and inquired what these things might be.

Llamando a uno de los criados, le preguntó qué era todo aquello.

27 A nd he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

Y él le dijo: ‘Tu hermano ha venido, y tu padre ha matado el becerro engordado, porque lo ha recibido sano y salvo.’

28 B ut he was angry, and would not go in: and his father came out, and entreated him.

Entonces él se enojó y no quería entrar. Salió su padre y le rogaba que entrara.

29 B ut he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, and I never transgressed a commandment of thine; and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

Pero él le dijo al padre: ‘Mira, por tantos años te he servido y nunca he desobedecido ninguna orden tuya, y sin embargo, nunca me has dado un cabrito para regocijarme con mis amigos;

30 b ut when this thy son came, who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou killedst for him the fatted calf.

pero cuando vino este hijo tuyo, que ha consumido tus bienes con rameras, mataste para él el becerro engordado.’

31 A nd he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that is mine is thine.

Y su padre le dijo: ‘Hijo mío, tú siempre has estado conmigo, y todo lo mío es tuyo.

32 B ut it was meet to make merry and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

Pero era necesario hacer fiesta y regocijarnos, porque éste, tu hermano, estaba muerto y ha vuelto a la vida; estaba perdido y ha sido hallado.’”
