1 A nd it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Jehovah, and sat before me.

En el año séptimo, el día diez del mes quinto, vinieron algunos de los ancianos de Israel a consultar al Señor, y se sentaron delante de mí.

2 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor:

3 S on of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Is it to inquire of me that ye are come? As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you.

“Hijo de hombre, habla a los ancianos de Israel y diles: ‘Así dice el Señor Dios: “¿Vienen a consultarme? Vivo Yo, que no Me dejaré consultar por ustedes,”’ declara el Señor Dios.

4 W ilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers;

“¿Los juzgarás? ¿ Los juzgarás, hijo de hombre? Hazles saber las abominaciones de sus padres.

5 a nd say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day when I chose Israel, and sware unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I sware unto them, saying, I am Jehovah your God;

“Diles: ‘Así dice el Señor Dios: “El día que escogí a Israel y juré a los descendientes de la casa de Jacob, Me di a conocer a ellos en la tierra de Egipto, y les juré: Yo soy el Señor su Dios.

6 i n that day I sware unto them, to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.

Aquel día les juré que los sacaría de la tierra de Egipto a una tierra que Yo había escogido para ellos, que mana leche y miel y que es la más hermosa de todas las tierras.

7 A nd I said unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am Jehovah your God.

Y les dije: ‘Cada uno arroje las cosas detestables que les atraen, y no se contaminen con los ídolos de Egipto; Yo soy el Señor su Dios.’

8 B ut they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me; they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

Pero se rebelaron contra Mí y no quisieron escucharme; no arrojaron las cosas detestables que les atraían, ni abandonaron los ídolos de Egipto. Entonces decidí derramar Mi furor sobre ellos, para desahogar contra ellos Mi ira en medio de la tierra de Egipto.

9 B ut I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

Pero actué en consideración a Mi nombre, para que no fuera profanado ante los ojos de las naciones en medio de las cuales vivían, y a cuya vista Me había dado a conocer sacándolos de la tierra de Egipto.

10 S o I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.

Los saqué, pues, de la tierra de Egipto y los llevé al desierto.

11 A nd I gave them my statutes, and showed them mine ordinances, which if a man do, he shall live in them.

Les di Mis estatutos y les hice conocer Mis decretos, por los cuales el hombre vivirá si los cumple.

12 M oreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Jehovah that sanctifieth them.

También les di Mis días de reposo por señal entre ellos y Yo, para que supieran que Yo soy el Señor, el que los santifica.

13 B ut the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they rejected mine ordinances, which if a man keep, he shall live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly profaned. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

Pero la casa de Israel se rebeló contra Mí en el desierto; no anduvieron en Mis estatutos y desecharon Mis decretos, por los cuales el hombre que los cumple vivirá, y Mis días de reposo profanaron en gran manera. Entonces decidí derramar Mi furor sobre ellos en el desierto, para exterminarlos.

14 B ut I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.

Pero actué en consideración a Mi nombre, para que no fuera profanado ante los ojos de las naciones a cuya vista los había sacado.

15 M oreover also I sware unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;

También les juré en el desierto que no los llevaría a la tierra que les había dado, que mana leche y miel y que es la más hermosa de todas las tierras,

16 b ecause they rejected mine ordinances, and walked not in my statutes, and profaned my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

porque desecharon Mis decretos, no anduvieron en Mis estatutos y profanaron Mis días de reposo, porque su corazón se iba tras sus ídolos.

17 N evertheless mine eye spared them, and I destroyed them not, neither did I make a full end of them in the wilderness.

Sin embargo, Mi ojo los perdonó para no destruirlos, y no los hice exterminar en el desierto.

18 A nd I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

Y dije a sus hijos en el desierto: ‘No anden en los estatutos de sus padres, ni guarden sus decretos, ni se contaminen con sus ídolos.

19 I am Jehovah your God: walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them;

Yo soy el Señor su Dios. Anden en Mis estatutos, guarden Mis decretos y pónganlos por obra.

20 a nd hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am Jehovah your God.

Santifiquen Mis días de reposo; y que sean una señal entre Yo y ustedes, para que sepan que Yo soy el Señor su Dios.’

21 B ut the children rebelled against me; they walked not in my statutes, neither kept mine ordinances to do them, which if a man do, he shall live in them; they profaned my sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

Pero los hijos se rebelaron contra Mí, no anduvieron en Mis estatutos, ni tuvieron cuidado de cumplir Mis decretos, por los cuales el hombre que los cumple vivirá. Además profanaron Mis días de reposo. Entonces decidí derramar Mi furor sobre ellos, para desahogar contra ellos Mi ira en el desierto.

22 N evertheless I withdrew my hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them forth.

Pero retiré Mi mano y actué en consideración a Mi nombre, para que no fuera profanado ante los ojos de las naciones a cuya vista los había sacado.

23 M oreover I sware unto them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations, and disperse them through the countries;

También Yo les juré en el desierto que los dispersaría entre las naciones y los esparciría por las tierras,

24 b ecause they had not executed mine ordinances, but had rejected my statutes, and had profaned my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols.

porque no habían cumplido Mis decretos, habían desechado Mis estatutos y habían profanado Mis días de reposo, y tras los ídolos de sus padres se iban sus ojos.

25 M oreover also I gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances wherein they should not live;

También les di estatutos que no eran buenos y decretos por los cuales no podrían vivir;

26 a nd I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am Jehovah.

y los declaré inmundos en sus ofrendas, pues hicieron pasar por el fuego a todos sus primogénitos y tuviera Yo que desolarlos, para que supieran que Yo soy el Señor.”’

27 T herefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In this moreover have your fathers blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.

“Por tanto, hijo de hombre, habla a la casa de Israel, y diles: ‘Así dice el Señor Dios: “Aun en esto Me han blasfemado sus padres actuando deslealmente contra Mí.

28 F or when I had brought them into the land, which I sware to give unto them, then they saw every high hill, and every thick tree, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering; there also they made their sweet savor, and they poured out there their drink-offerings.

Cuando los traje a la tierra que había jurado darles, miraron a toda colina alta y todo árbol frondoso, y allí ofrecieron sus sacrificios y allí presentaron sus ofrendas provocativas. Allí presentaron también su aroma agradable y allí derramaron sus libaciones.

29 T hen I said unto them, What meaneth the high place whereunto ye go? So the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day.

Entonces les dije: ‘¿Qué es el lugar alto adonde van?’ Y se le dio el nombre de Bama (Lugar Alto) hasta el día de hoy.”’

30 W herefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Do ye pollute yourselves after the manner of your fathers? and play ye the harlot after their abominations?

Por tanto, dile a la casa de Israel: ‘Así dice el Señor Dios: “¿Se contaminarán a la manera de sus padres y se prostituirán tras sus abominaciones?

31 a nd when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, do ye pollute yourselves with all your idols unto this day? and shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you;

Cuando ofrecen sus ofrendas, cuando hacen pasar por el fuego a sus hijos, se contaminan con todos sus ídolos hasta el día de hoy. ¿Me dejaré consultar Yo por ustedes, casa de Israel? Vivo Yo,” declara el Señor Dios, “que no Me dejaré consultar por ustedes.

32 a nd that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, in that ye say, We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

Y no sucederá lo que están pensando, cuando dicen: ‘Seremos como las naciones, como las tribus de otras tierras, que sirven a la madera y a la piedra.’

33 A s I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, surely with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, will I be king over you:

Vivo Yo,” declara el Señor Dios, “que con mano fuerte, con brazo extendido y con furor derramado Yo seré rey sobre ustedes.

34 a nd I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out;

Los sacaré de entre los pueblos y los reuniré de las tierras donde están dispersos con mano fuerte, con brazo extendido y con furor derramado;

35 a nd I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there will I enter into judgment with you face to face.

y los llevaré al desierto de los pueblos y allí entraré en juicio con ustedes cara a cara.

36 L ike as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I enter into judgment with you, saith the Lord Jehovah.

Como entré en juicio con sus padres en el desierto de la tierra de Egipto, así entraré en juicio con ustedes,” declara el Señor Dios.

37 A nd I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant;

“Los haré pasar bajo la vara y los haré entrar en el vínculo del pacto;

38 a nd I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me; I will bring them forth out of the land where they sojourn, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.

y separaré de ustedes a los rebeldes, a los que han transgredido contra Mí; y los sacaré de la tierra donde peregrinan, pero no entrarán en la tierra de Israel. Y ustedes sabrán que Yo soy el Señor.

39 A s for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Go ye, serve every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me; but my holy name shall ye no more profane with your gifts, and with your idols.

“En cuanto a ustedes, casa de Israel,” así dice el Señor Dios, “Vaya cada uno a servir a sus ídolos; pero más tarde ciertamente Me escucharán y no profanarán más Mi santo nombre con sus ofrendas y con sus ídolos.

40 F or in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them, serve me in the land: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the first-fruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.

Porque en Mi santo monte, en el alto monte de Israel,” declara el Señor Dios “allí Me servirá toda la casa de Israel, toda ella, en esta tierra. Allí los aceptaré y allí reclamaré sus ofrendas y las primicias de sus dones con todas sus cosas sagradas.

41 A s a sweet savor will I accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you in the sight of the nations.

Como aroma agradable los aceptaré, cuando los haya sacado de entre los pueblos y los haya recogido de las tierras donde están dispersos. Mostraré Mi santidad entre ustedes a la vista de las naciones.

42 A nd ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country which I sware to give unto your fathers.

Y ustedes sabrán que Yo soy el Señor, cuando los traiga a la tierra de Israel, a la tierra que juré dar a sus padres.

43 A nd there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have polluted yourselves; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.

Allí se acordarán de sus caminos y de todas sus obras con las que se han contaminado, y se aborrecerán a ustedes mismos por todas las iniquidades que han cometido.

44 A nd ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have dealt with you for my name's sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah.

Y sabrán que Yo soy el Señor, cuando actúe con ustedes en consideración a Mi nombre, y no conforme a sus malos caminos ni conforme a sus perversas obras, casa de Israel,’” declara el Señor Dios.

45 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor:

46 S on of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South;

“Hijo de hombre, pon tu rostro hacia Teman y habla contra el sur, profetiza contra el bosque del Neguev (región del sur),

47 a nd say to the forest of the South, Hear the word of Jehovah: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burnt thereby.

y dile al bosque del Neguev: ‘Oye la palabra del Señor. Así dice el Señor Dios: “Voy a prenderte un fuego que consumirá en ti todo árbol verde y todo árbol seco. No se apagará la llama abrasadora, y por ella será quemada toda la superficie, de sur a norte.

48 A nd all flesh shall see that I, Jehovah, have kindled it; it shall not be quenched.

Y toda carne verá que Yo, el Señor, lo he encendido; no se apagará.”’”

49 T hen said I, Ah Lord Jehovah! they say of me, Is he not a speaker of parables?

Entonces dije: “¡Ah, Señor Dios! Ellos dicen de mí: ‘¿No habla éste más que parábolas ?’”
