1 V erdadeiramente bom é Deus para com Israel, para com os limpos de coração.

Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.

2 Q uanto a mim, os meus pés quase resvalaram; pouco faltou para que os meus passos escorregassem.

But as for me, my feet were almost gone. My steps had nearly slipped.

3 P ois eu tinha inveja dos soberbos, ao ver a prosperidade dos ímpios.

For I was envious of the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4 P orque eles não sofrem dores; são e robusto é o seu corpo.

For there are no struggles in their death, but their strength is firm.

5 N ão se acham em tribulações como outra gente, nem são afligidos como os demais homens.

They are free from burdens of men, neither are they plagued like other men.

6 P elo que a soberba lhes cinge o pescoço como um colar; a violência os cobre como um vestido.

Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck. Violence covers them like a garment.

7 O s olhos deles estão inchados de gordura; trasbordam as fantasias do seu coração.

Their eyes bulge with fat. Their minds pass the limits of conceit.

8 M otejam e falam maliciosamente; falam arrogantemente da opressão.

They scoff and speak with malice. In arrogance, they threaten oppression.

9 P õem a sua boca contra os céus, e a sua língua percorre a terra.

They have set their mouth in the heavens. Their tongue walks through the earth.

10 P elo que o povo volta para eles e não acha neles falta alguma.

Therefore their people return to them, and they drink up waters of abundance.

11 E dizem: Como o sabe Deus? e: Há conhecimento no Altíssimo?

They say, “How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”

12 E is que estes são ímpios; sempre em segurança, aumentam as suas riquezas.

Behold, these are the wicked. Being always at ease, they increase in riches.

13 N a verdade que em vão tenho purificado o meu coração e lavado as minhas mãos na inocência,

Surely in vain I have cleansed my heart, and washed my hands in innocence,

14 p ois todo o dia tenho sido afligido, e castigado cada manhã.

For all day long have I been plagued, and punished every morning.

15 S e eu tivesse dito: Também falarei assim; eis que me teria havido traiçoeiramente para com a geração de teus filhos.

If I had said, “I will speak thus”; behold, I would have betrayed the generation of your children.

16 Q uando me esforçava para compreender isto, achei que era tarefa difícil para mim,

When I tried to understand this, it was too painful for me;

17 a té que entrei no santuário de Deus; então percebi o fim deles.

Until I entered God’s sanctuary, and considered their latter end.

18 C ertamente tu os pões em lugares escorregadios, tu os lanças para a ruína.

Surely you set them in slippery places. You throw them down to destruction.

19 C omo caem na desolação num momento! ficam totalmente consumidos de terrores.

How they are suddenly destroyed! They are completely swept away with terrors.

20 C omo faz com um sonho o que acorda, assim, ó Senhor, quando acordares, desprezarás as suas fantasias.

As a dream when one wakes up, so, Lord, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.

21 Q uando o meu espírito se amargurava, e sentia picadas no meu coração,

For my soul was grieved. I was embittered in my heart.

22 e stava embrutecido, e nada sabia; era como animal diante de ti.

I was so senseless and ignorant. I was a brute beast before you.

23 T odavia estou sempre contigo; tu me seguras a mão direita.

Nevertheless, I am continually with you. You have held my right hand.

24 T u me guias com o teu conselho, e depois me receberás em glória.

You will guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

25 A quem tenho eu no céu senão a ti? e na terra não há quem eu deseje além de ti.

Whom do I have in heaven? There is no one on earth whom I desire besides you.

26 A minha carne e o meu coração desfalecem; do meu coração, porém, Deus é a fortaleza, e o meu quinhão para sempre.

My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

27 P ois os que estão longe de ti perecerão; tu exterminas todos aqueles que se desviam de ti.

For, behold, those who are far from you shall perish. You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.

28 M as para mim, bom é aproximar-me de Deus; ponho a minha confiança no Senhor Deus, para anunciar todas as suas obras.

But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.
