Help, Yahweh; for the godly man ceases. For the faithful fail from among the children of men.

2 C ada um fala com falsidade ao seu próximo; falam com lábios lisonjeiros e coração dobre.

Everyone lies to his neighbor. They speak with flattering lips, and with a double heart.

3 C orte o Senhor todos os lábios lisonjeiros e a língua que fala soberbamente,

May Yahweh cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts,

4 o s que dizem: Com a nossa língua prevaleceremos; os nossos lábios a nós nos pertecem; quem sobre nós é senhor?

who have said, “With our tongue we will prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?”

5 P or causa da opressão dos pobres, e do gemido dos necessitados, levantar-me-ei agora, diz o Senhor; porei em segurança quem por ela suspira.

“Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says Yahweh; “I will set him in safety from those who malign him.”

6 A s palavras do Senhor são palavras puras, como prata refinada numa fornalha de barro, purificada sete vezes.

Yahweh’s words are flawless words, as silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times.

7 G uarda-nos, ó Senhor; desta geração defende-nos para sempre.

You will keep them, Yahweh. You will preserve them from this generation forever.

8 O s ímpios andam por toda parte, quando a vileza se exalta entre os filhos dos homens.

The wicked walk on every side, when what is vile is exalted among the sons of men.
