1 T he Law is like a picture of the good things to come. The Jewish religious leaders gave gifts on the altar in worship to God all the time year after year. Those gifts could not make the people who came to worship perfect.

Porque a lei, tendo a sombra dos bens futuros, e não a imagem exata das coisas, não pode nunca, pelos mesmos sacrifícios que continuamente se oferecem de ano em ano, aperfeiçoar os que se chegam a Deus.

2 I f those gifts given to God could take away sins, the people who came to worship would no longer feel guilty of sin. They would have given no more gifts.

Doutra maneira, não teriam deixado de ser oferecidos? pois tendo sido uma vez purificados os que prestavam o culto, nunca mais teriam consciência de pecado.

3 W hen they gave the gifts year after year, it made them remember that they still had their sins.

Mas nesses sacrifícios cada ano se faz recordação dos pecados,

4 T he blood of animals cannot take away the sins of men. In The New Way of Worship One Gift Was Given

porque é impossível que o sangue de touros e de bodes tire pecados.

5 W hen Christ came to the world, He said to God, “You do not want animals killed or gifts given in worship. You have made My body ready to give as a gift.

Pelo que, entrando no mundo, diz: Sacrifício e oferta não quiseste, mas um corpo me preparaste;

6 Y ou are not pleased with animals that have been killed or burned and given as gifts on the altar to take away sin.

não te deleitaste em holocaustos e oblações pelo pecado.

7 T hen I said, ‘I have come to do what You want, O God. It is written in the Law that I would.’”

Então eu disse: Eis-me aqui (no rol do livro está escrito de mim) para fazer, ó Deus, a tua vontade.

8 T hen Christ said, “You do not want animals killed or gifts given in worship to you for sin. You are not pleased with them.” These things are done because the Law says they should be done.

Tendo dito acima: Sacrifício e ofertas e holocaustos e oblações pelo pecado não quiseste, nem neles te deleitaste (os quais se oferecem segundo a lei);

9 T hen He said, “I have come to do what You want Me to do.” And this is what He did when He died on a cross. God did away with the Old Way of Worship and made a New Way of Worship.

agora disse: Eis-me aqui para fazer a tua vontade. Ele tira o primeiro, para estabelecer o segundo.

10 O ur sins are washed away and we are made clean because Christ gave His own body as a gift to God. He did this once for all time.

É nessa vontade dele que temos sido santificados pela oferta do corpo de Jesus Cristo, feita uma vez para sempre.

11 A ll Jewish religious leaders stand every day killing animals and giving gifts on the altar. They give the same gifts over and over again. These gifts cannot take away sins.

Ora, todo sacerdote se apresenta dia após dia, ministrando e oferecendo muitas vezes os mesmos sacrifícios, que nunca podem tirar pecados;

12 B ut Christ gave Himself once for sins and that is good forever. After that He sat down at the right side of God.

mas este, havendo oferecido um único sacrifício pelos pecados, assentou-se para sempre ã direita de Deus,

13 H e is waiting there for God to make of those who have hated Him a place to rest His feet.

daí por diante esperando, até que os seus inimigos sejam postos por escabelo de seus pés.

14 A nd by one gift He has made perfect forever all those who are being set apart for God-like living.

Pois com uma só oferta tem aperfeiçoado para sempre os que estão sendo santificados.

15 T he Holy Spirit tells us this: First He says,

E o Espírito Santo também no-lo testifica, porque depois de haver dito:

16 “ This is the New Way of Worship that I will give them. When that day comes, says the Lord, I will put My Laws in their hearts. And I will write them in their minds.” Then He says,

Este é o pacto que farei com eles depois daqueles dias, diz o Senhor: Porei as minhas leis em seus corações, e as escreverei em seu entendimento; acrescenta:

17 “ I will not remember their sins and wrong-doings anymore.”

E não me lembrarei mais de seus pecados e de suas iniqüidades.

18 N o more gifts on the altar in worship are needed when our sins are forgiven. We Can Go to God Through Christ

Ora, onde há remissão destes, não há mais oferta pelo pecado.

19 C hristian brothers, now we know we can go into the Holiest Place of All because the blood of Jesus was given.

Tendo pois, irmãos, ousadia para entrarmos no santíssimo lugar, pelo sangue de Jesus,

20 W e now come to God by the new and living way. Christ made this way for us. He opened the curtain, which was His own body.

pelo caminho que ele nos inaugurou, caminho novo e vivo, através do véu, isto é, da sua carne,

21 W e have a great Religious Leader over the house of God.

e tendo um grande sacerdote sobre a casa de Deus,

22 A nd so let us come near to God with a true heart full of faith. Our hearts must be made clean from guilty feelings and our bodies washed with pure water.

cheguemo-nos com verdadeiro coração, em inteira certeza de fé; tendo o coração purificado da má consciência, e o corpo lavado com água limpa,

23 L et us hold on to the hope we say we have and not be changed. We can trust God that He will do what He promised.

retenhamos inabalável a confissão da nossa esperança, porque fiel é aquele que fez a promessa;

24 L et us help each other to love others and to do good.

e consideremo-nos uns aos outros, para nos estimularmos ao amor e

25 L et us not stay away from church meetings. Some people are doing this all the time. Comfort each other as you see the day of His return coming near. Do Not Fall Back Into Sin

não abandonando a nossa congregação, como é costume de alguns, antes admoestando-nos uns aos outros; e tanto mais, quanto vedes que se vai aproximando aquele dia.

26 I f we keep on sinning because we want to after we have received and know the truth, there is no gift that will take away sins then.

Porque se voluntariamente continuarmos no pecado, depois de termos recebido o pleno conhecimento da verdade, já não resta mais sacrifício pelos pecados,

27 I nstead, we will stand before God and on that day He will judge us. And the hot fires of hell will burn up those who work against God.

mas uma expectação terrível de juízo, e um ardor de fogo que há de devorar os adversários.

28 A nyone who did not obey the Old Way of Worship died without loving-kindness when two or three men spoke against him.

Havendo alguém rejeitado a lei de Moisés, morre sem misericórdia, pela palavra de duas ou três testemunhas;

29 H ow much more will a man have to be punished if he walks on and hates the Son of God? How much more will he be punished if he acts as if the blood of God’s New Way of Worship is worth nothing? This New Way of Worship is God’s way of making him holy. How much more will he be punished if he laughs at the Holy Spirit Who wanted to show him loving-favor?

de quanto maior castigo cuidais vós será julgado merecedor aquele que pisar o Filho de Deus, e tiver por profano o sangue do pacto, com que foi santificado, e ultrajar ao Espírito da graça?

30 F or we know God said, “I will pay back what is coming to them.” And, “The Lord will judge His people.”

Pois conhecemos aquele que disse: Minha é a vingança, eu retribuirei. E outra vez: O Senhor julgará o seu povo.

31 T he very worst thing that can happen to a man is to fall into the hands of the living God!

Horrenda coisa é cair nas mãos do Deus vivo.

32 R emember how it was in those days after you heard the truth. You suffered much.

Lembrai-vos, porém, dos dias passados, em que, depois de serdes iluminados, suportastes grande combate de aflições;

33 P eople laughed at you and beat you. When others suffered, you suffered with them.

pois por um lado fostes feitos espetáculo tanto por vitupérios como por tribulações, e por outro vos tornastes companheiros dos que assim foram tratados.

34 Y ou had loving-pity for those who were in prison. You had joy when your things were taken away from you. For you knew you would have something better in heaven which would last forever.

Pois não só vos compadecestes dos que estavam nas prisões, mas também com gozo aceitastes a espoliação dos vossos bens, sabendo que vós tendes uma possessão melhor e permanente.

35 D o not throw away your trust, for your reward will be great.

Não lanceis fora, pois, a vossa confiança, que tem uma grande recompensa.

36 Y ou must be willing to wait without giving up. After you have done what God wants you to do, God will give you what He promised you.

Porque necessitais de perseverança, para que, depois de haverdes feito a vontade de Deus, alcanceis a promessa.

37 T he Holy Writings say, “In a little while, the One you are looking for will come. It will not be a long time now.

Pois ainda em bem pouco tempo aquele que há de vir virá, e não tardará.

38 F or the one right with God lives by faith. If anyone turns back, I will not be pleased with him.”

Mas o meu justo viverá da fé; e se ele recuar, a minha alma não tem prazer nele.

39 W e are not of those people who turn back and are lost. Instead, we have faith to be saved from the punishment of sin.

Nós, porém, não somos daqueles que recuam para a perdição, mas daqueles que crêem para a conservação da alma.
