1 T he Law is like a picture of the good things to come. The Jewish religious leaders gave gifts on the altar in worship to God all the time year after year. Those gifts could not make the people who came to worship perfect.

La ley es apenas el contorno de los bienes venideros, y no su imagen real. Por eso jamás podrá hacer perfectos a los que cada año se acercan a Dios para ofrecer los mismos sacrificios.

2 I f those gifts given to God could take away sins, the people who came to worship would no longer feel guilty of sin. They would have given no more gifts.

Si en realidad pudiera, entonces los que rinden este culto, una vez limpios, dejarían de ofrecerlos, pues ya no tendrían más conciencia de pecado.

3 W hen they gave the gifts year after year, it made them remember that they still had their sins.

Pero con estos sacrificios, cada año se hace memoria de los pecados,

4 T he blood of animals cannot take away the sins of men. In The New Way of Worship One Gift Was Given

porque la sangre de los toros y de los machos cabríos no puede quitar los pecados.

5 W hen Christ came to the world, He said to God, “You do not want animals killed or gifts given in worship. You have made My body ready to give as a gift.

Por eso, al entrar en el mundo, Cristo dijo: «No quieres sacrificio y ofrenda, pero me has dado un cuerpo.

6 Y ou are not pleased with animals that have been killed or burned and given as gifts on the altar to take away sin.

No te agradan los holocaustos ni las expiaciones por el pecado.

7 T hen I said, ‘I have come to do what You want, O God. It is written in the Law that I would.’”

Entonces dije: “Mi Dios, aquí estoy para hacer tu voluntad, como está escrito de mí en el libro.”»

8 T hen Christ said, “You do not want animals killed or gifts given in worship to you for sin. You are not pleased with them.” These things are done because the Law says they should be done.

Al decir primero: «No quieres ni te agradan sacrificios ni ofrendas, ni holocaustos ni expiaciones por el pecado» (cosas que se ofrecen según la ley),

9 T hen He said, “I have come to do what You want Me to do.” And this is what He did when He died on a cross. God did away with the Old Way of Worship and made a New Way of Worship.

y luego añadir: «Aquí estoy, para hacer tu voluntad», quita lo primero para establecer esto último.

10 O ur sins are washed away and we are made clean because Christ gave His own body as a gift to God. He did this once for all time.

Por esa voluntad somos santificados, mediante la ofrenda del cuerpo de Jesucristo, hecha una sola vez y para siempre.

11 A ll Jewish religious leaders stand every day killing animals and giving gifts on the altar. They give the same gifts over and over again. These gifts cannot take away sins.

Todo sacerdote ministra día tras día, y una y otra vez ofrece los mismos sacrificios, los cuales nunca pueden quitar los pecados.

12 B ut Christ gave Himself once for sins and that is good forever. After that He sat down at the right side of God.

Pero Cristo, después de ofrecer una sola vez un solo sacrificio por los pecados, para siempre se sentó a la derecha de Dios,

13 H e is waiting there for God to make of those who have hated Him a place to rest His feet.

y de ahí en adelante está en espera de que sus enemigos sean puestos por estrado de sus pies.

14 A nd by one gift He has made perfect forever all those who are being set apart for God-like living.

Él, por medio de una sola ofrenda, hizo perfectos para siempre a los santificados.

15 T he Holy Spirit tells us this: First He says,

De esto nos da testimonio el Espíritu Santo, pues primero dice:

16 “ This is the New Way of Worship that I will give them. When that day comes, says the Lord, I will put My Laws in their hearts. And I will write them in their minds.” Then He says,

«El Señor ha dicho: Éste es el pacto que haré con ellos después de aquellos días: Pondré mis leyes en su corazón, y las escribiré en su mente.»

17 “ I will not remember their sins and wrong-doings anymore.”

Y luego añade: «Y nunca más me acordaré de sus pecados y transgresiones.»

18 N o more gifts on the altar in worship are needed when our sins are forgiven. We Can Go to God Through Christ

Cuando los pecados ya han sido perdonados, no hay más necesidad de presentar ofrendas por el pecado.

19 C hristian brothers, now we know we can go into the Holiest Place of All because the blood of Jesus was given.

Hermanos, puesto que con toda libertad podemos entrar en el Lugar Santísimo por la sangre de Jesucristo,

20 W e now come to God by the new and living way. Christ made this way for us. He opened the curtain, which was His own body.

por el camino nuevo y vivo que él nos abrió a través del velo, es decir, de su propio cuerpo,

21 W e have a great Religious Leader over the house of God.

y puesto que tenemos un gran sacerdote al frente de la casa de Dios,

22 A nd so let us come near to God with a true heart full of faith. Our hearts must be made clean from guilty feelings and our bodies washed with pure water.

acerquémonos con un corazón sincero, y con la plena seguridad de la fe, con el corazón purificado de una mala conciencia, y con el cuerpo lavado en agua pura.

23 L et us hold on to the hope we say we have and not be changed. We can trust God that He will do what He promised.

Mantengamos firme y sin fluctuar la esperanza que profesamos, porque fiel es el que prometió.

24 L et us help each other to love others and to do good.

Tengámonos en cuenta unos a otros, a fin de estimularnos al amor y a las buenas obras.

25 L et us not stay away from church meetings. Some people are doing this all the time. Comfort each other as you see the day of His return coming near. Do Not Fall Back Into Sin

No dejemos de congregarnos, como es la costumbre de algunos, sino animémonos unos a otros; y con más razón ahora que vemos que aquel día se acerca. Advertencia a los pecadores deliberados

26 I f we keep on sinning because we want to after we have received and know the truth, there is no gift that will take away sins then.

Si con toda intención pecamos después de haber recibido el conocimiento de la verdad, ya no queda más sacrificio por los pecados

27 I nstead, we will stand before God and on that day He will judge us. And the hot fires of hell will burn up those who work against God.

sino una terrible expectativa del juicio y del fuego ardiente que devorará a los enemigos de Dios.

28 A nyone who did not obey the Old Way of Worship died without loving-kindness when two or three men spoke against him.

Cualquiera que desobedece la ley de Moisés, muere sin falta, siempre y cuando haya dos o tres testigos que declaren en su contra.

29 H ow much more will a man have to be punished if he walks on and hates the Son of God? How much more will he be punished if he acts as if the blood of God’s New Way of Worship is worth nothing? This New Way of Worship is God’s way of making him holy. How much more will he be punished if he laughs at the Holy Spirit Who wanted to show him loving-favor?

¿Y qué mayor castigo piensan ustedes que merece el que pisotea al Hijo de Dios y considera impura la sangre del pacto, en la cual fue santificado, e insulta al Espíritu de la gracia?

30 F or we know God said, “I will pay back what is coming to them.” And, “The Lord will judge His people.”

Bien sabemos que el Señor ha dicho: «Mía es la venganza, yo pagaré», y también: «El Señor juzgará a su pueblo».

31 T he very worst thing that can happen to a man is to fall into the hands of the living God!

¡Horrenda cosa es caer en las manos del Dios vivo!

32 R emember how it was in those days after you heard the truth. You suffered much.

Pero recuerden ustedes los tiempos pasados, cuando después de haber sido iluminados soportaron ustedes los sufrimientos de una gran lucha.

33 P eople laughed at you and beat you. When others suffered, you suffered with them.

Algunas veces fueron expuestos públicamente a las burlas y las aflicciones, y otras veces llegaron a ser compañeros de los que enfrentaban una situación semejante.

34 Y ou had loving-pity for those who were in prison. You had joy when your things were taken away from you. For you knew you would have something better in heaven which would last forever.

Además, ustedes también se compadecieron de los presos, y gozosos soportaron el despojo de sus propios bienes, sabedores de que en los cielos tienen una herencia mejor y permanente.

35 D o not throw away your trust, for your reward will be great.

Por lo tanto, no pierdan la confianza, que lleva consigo una gran recompensa.

36 Y ou must be willing to wait without giving up. After you have done what God wants you to do, God will give you what He promised you.

Lo que ustedes necesitan es tener paciencia; para que, una vez que hayan hecho la voluntad de Dios, reciban lo que él ha prometido darnos.

37 T he Holy Writings say, “In a little while, the One you are looking for will come. It will not be a long time now.

«Porque dentro de muy poco tiempo el que ha de venir, vendrá y no tardará.

38 F or the one right with God lives by faith. If anyone turns back, I will not be pleased with him.”

Pero el justo vivirá por la fe; y si se vuelve atrás, no será de mi agrado.»

39 W e are not of those people who turn back and are lost. Instead, we have faith to be saved from the punishment of sin.

Pero nosotros no somos de los que se vuelven atrás y se pierden, sino de los que tienen fe y salvan su alma.
