1 D ear Christian friends, do not believe every spirit. But test the spirits to see if they are from God for there are many false preachers in the world.

Amados, no crean a todo espíritu, sino pongan a prueba los espíritus, para ver si son de Dios. Porque muchos falsos profetas han salido por el mundo.

2 Y ou can tell if the spirit is from God in this way: Every spirit that says Jesus Christ has come in a human body is from God.

Pero ésta es la mejor manera de reconocer el Espíritu de Dios: Todo espíritu que confiesa que Jesucristo ha venido en carne, es de Dios;

3 A nd every spirit that does not say Jesus has come in a human body is not from God. It is the teaching of the false-christ. You have heard that this teaching is coming. It is already here in the world.

y todo espíritu que no confiesa a Jesús, no es de Dios. Éste es el espíritu del anticristo, el cual ustedes han oído que viene, y que ya está en el mundo.

4 M y children, you are a part of God’s family. You have stood against these false preachers and had power over them. You had power over them because the One Who lives in you is stronger than the one who is in the world.

Hijitos, ustedes son de Dios, y han vencido a esos falsos profetas, porque mayor es el que está en ustedes que el que está en el mundo.

5 T hose false teachers are a part of the world. They speak about the things of the world. The world listens to them.

Ellos son del mundo. Por eso hablan del mundo, y el mundo los oye.

6 W e are a part of God’s family. The person who knows God will listen to us. The person who is not a part of God’s family will not listen to us. In this way, we can tell what is the spirit of truth and what is the spirit of false teaching. Loving God Makes Us Love Our Christian Brothers

Nosotros somos de Dios. El que conoce a Dios, nos oye; el que no es de Dios, no nos oye. Por esto sabemos cuál es el espíritu de la verdad, y cuál es el espíritu del error. Dios es amor

7 D ear friends, let us love each other, because love comes from God. Those who love are God’s children and they know God.

Amados, amémonos unos a otros, porque el amor es de Dios. Todo aquel que ama, ha nacido de Dios y conoce a Dios.

8 T hose who do not love do not know God because God is love.

El que no ama, no ha conocido a Dios, porque Dios es amor.

9 G od has shown His love to us by sending His only Son into the world. God did this so we might have life through Christ.

En esto se mostró el amor de Dios para con nosotros: en que Dios envió al mundo a su Hijo unigénito, para que vivamos por él.

10 T his is love! It is not that we loved God but that He loved us. For God sent His Son to pay for our sins with His own blood.

En esto consiste el amor: no en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que él nos amó a nosotros, y envió a su Hijo en propiciación por nuestros pecados.

11 D ear friends, if God loved us that much, then we should love each other.

Amados, si Dios nos ha amado así, nosotros también debemos amarnos unos a otros.

12 N o person has ever seen God at any time. If we love each other, God lives in us. His love is made perfect in us.

Nadie ha visto jamás a Dios. Si nos amamos unos a otros, Dios permanece en nosotros, y su amor se perfecciona en nosotros.

13 H e has given us His Spirit. This is how we live by His help and He lives in us. Love Gives Us More Faith in Christ

En esto sabemos que permanecemos en él, y él en nosotros: en que él nos ha dado de su Espíritu.

14 W e have seen and are able to say that the Father sent His Son to save the world from the punishment of sin.

Nosotros hemos visto y damos testimonio de que el Padre ha enviado al Hijo, el Salvador del mundo.

15 T he person who tells of Him in front of men and says that Jesus is the Son of God, God is living in that one and that one is living by the help of God.

Todo aquel que confiese que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, permanece en Dios, y Dios en él.

16 W e have come to know and believe the love God has for us. God is love. If you live in love, you live by the help of God and God lives in you. The Love of God Has Power Over Fear and Hate

Y nosotros hemos conocido y creído el amor que Dios tiene para con nosotros. Dios es amor; y el que permanece en amor, permanece en Dios, y Dios en él.

17 L ove is made perfect in us when we are not ashamed as we stand before Him on the day He judges. For we know that our life in this world is His life lived in us.

En esto se perfecciona el amor en nosotros: para que tengamos confianza en el día del juicio, pues como él es, así somos nosotros en este mundo.

18 T here is no fear in love. Perfect love puts fear out of our hearts. People have fear when they are afraid of being punished. The man who is afraid does not have perfect love.

En el amor no hay temor, sino que el perfecto amor echa fuera el temor, porque el temor lleva en sí castigo. Por lo tanto, el que teme, no ha sido perfeccionado en el amor.

19 W e love Him because He loved us first.

Nosotros lo amamos a él, porque él nos amó primero.

20 I f a person says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. If a person does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God Whom he has not seen?

Si alguno dice: «Yo amo a Dios», pero odia a su hermano, es un mentiroso. Pues el que no ama a su hermano a quien ha visto, ¿cómo puede amar a Dios, a quien no ha visto?

21 W e have these words from Him. If you love God, love your brother also.

Nosotros recibimos de él este mandamiento: El que ama a Dios, ame también a su hermano.
