1 W hen the noise had come to an end, Paul called the followers to him. He spoke words of comfort and then said good-bye. He left to go to the country of Macedonia.

Una vez que se calmó el alboroto, Pablo llamó a los discípulos y, luego de animarlos y abrazarlos, se despidió de ellos y se fue a Macedonia.

2 A s he went through those parts of the country, he spoke words of comfort and help to the Christians. Then he went on to the country of Greece.

Después de recorrer aquellas regiones y de animar a los hermanos con largos discursos, se dirigió a Grecia,

3 H e stayed there three months. As he was about to get on a ship for the country of Syria, he learned that the Jews had made a plan to take him. He changed his plans and went back through Macedonia.

donde estuvo tres meses. Pero como los judíos le tendieron una emboscada cuando él estaba por embarcarse rumbo a Siria, decidió regresar por Macedonia.

4 S ome men were going along with him. They were Sopater of the city of Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus of the city of Thessalonica, Gaius of the city of Derbe, and Timothy and Tychicus and Trophimus of the countries of Asia.

Lo acompañaron Sópater de Berea, Aristarco y Segundo, de Tesalónica; Gayo, de Derbe; Timoteo, y Tíquico y Trófimo, de Asia.

5 T hey went on to the city of Troas and waited there for us.

Pero ellos se adelantaron y nos esperaron en Troas.

6 A fter the supper of bread without yeast we got on a ship in the city of Philippi. We met these men at Troas. It took five days to get there and we stayed one week. Eutychus Falls from a Building While Paul Preaches

7 O n the first day of the week we met together to eat the Lord’s supper. Paul talked to them. He thought he would leave the next day, so he kept on talking until twelve o’clock at night.

El primer día de la semana los discípulos se reunieron para partir el pan, y Pablo estuvo enseñándoles. Pero como tenía que salir al día siguiente, alargó su discurso hasta la medianoche.

8 T here were many lights in the room on the third floor where we had our meeting.

En el aposento alto donde se habían reunido había muchas lámparas.

9 A young man named Eutychus sat in the window. As Paul kept on preaching, this man started to go to sleep. At last he went to sleep. He fell from the third floor to the ground and was picked up dead.

Un joven que se llamaba Eutico estaba sentado en la ventana del tercer piso. Como Pablo se extendió demasiado en su predicación, a Eutico lo venció el sueño y se cayó, así que cuando lo levantaron estaba muerto.

10 P aul went down and stood over him. Then he took him in his arms and said, “Do not be worried. He is alive!”

Entonces Pablo bajó y se echó sobre él, lo abrazó y dijo: «No se alarmen. Está vivo.»

11 P aul went up again to the meeting and ate with them. He talked with them until the sun came up. Then he left.

Después volvió a subir, y partió el pan y comió; luego siguió hablando hasta que amaneció, y entonces se fue.

12 T hey were happy they could take the young man home alive.

Para consuelo de todos, al joven se lo llevaron vivo. Viaje de Troas a Mileto

13 W e went on ahead by ship to the city of Assos. There we were to pick up Paul. He had planned it that way. He wanted to walk by land that far.

Nosotros nos embarcamos antes, y navegamos hasta Asón, donde teníamos que recoger a Pablo, pues él había decidido ir allá por tierra.

14 W e got to Assos and met him there. We picked him up and went on to the city of Mitylene.

Cuando se reunió con nosotros en Asón, subió a bordo y nos fuimos a Mitilene.

15 T he next day we went by ship to a place beside the island of Chios. The next day we crossed over to the island of Samos. Then the next day we came to the city of Miletus.

Partimos de allí, y al día siguiente estábamos frente a Quío. Al otro día tocamos puerto en Samos, y un día después llegamos a Mileto.

16 P aul planned to pass by the city of Ephesus so he would not lose more time in Asia. He wanted to be in Jerusalem if he could be on the day to remember how the Holy Spirit came on the church. Paul Meets with the Leaders of the Church of Ephesus

Pablo se apresuraba porque, de ser posible, quería estar en Jerusalén el día de Pentecostés, así que había decidido pasar de largo a Éfeso y no detenerse en Asia. Discurso de despedida de Pablo en Mileto

17 F rom Miletus he sent word to Ephesus. He asked the leaders of the church to come to him.

Desde Mileto Pablo envió un mensaje a los ancianos de la iglesia de Éfeso, para que se reunieran con él.

18 W hen they got there, he said to them, “From the first day that I came to Asia you have seen what my life has been like.

Cuando los ancianos llegaron, les dijo: «Ustedes saben cómo me he comportado todo el tiempo, desde el primer día que entré en Asia.

19 I worked for the Lord without pride. Because of the trouble the Jews gave me, I have had many tears.

Saben que he servido al Señor con toda humildad y con muchas lágrimas, y que he sido puesto a prueba por las intrigas de los judíos.

20 I always told you everything that would be a help to you. I taught you in open meetings and from house to house.

También saben que no me he negado a serles útil, y que en público y en las casas he anunciado y enseñado

21 I preached to the Jews and to the Greeks. I told them to turn from their sin to God and to put their trust in our Lord Jesus Christ.

a los judíos y a los no judíos que deben volverse a Dios, y tener fe en nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

22 “ As you see, I am on my way to Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit makes me go. I do not know what will happen to me there.

Ahora voy a Jerusalén, llevado por el Espíritu, pero no sé lo que allá me espera,

23 B ut in every city I have been, the Holy Spirit tells me that trouble and chains will be waiting for me there.

a no ser lo que el Espíritu Santo me ha confirmado en todas las ciudades, de que me esperan cárceles y tribulaciones.

24 B ut I am not worried about this. I do not think of my life as worth much, but I do want to finish the work the Lord Jesus gave me to do. My work is to preach the Good News of God’s loving-favor.

Pero eso a mí no me preocupa, pues no considero mi vida de mucho valor, con tal de que pueda terminar con gozo mi carrera y el ministerio que el Señor Jesús me encomendó, de hablar del evangelio y de la gracia de Dios.

25 “ All of you have heard me preach the Good News. I am sure that none of you will ever see my face again.

Yo sé que no me volverá a ver ninguno de ustedes, entre quienes he estado proclamando el reino de Dios;

26 I tell you this day that I am clean and free from the blood of all men.

por lo tanto, puedo asegurarles que estoy limpio de la sangre de todos,

27 I told you all the truth about God.

pues no me he negado a anunciarles el plan de Dios.

28 K eep a careful watch over yourselves and over the church. The Holy Spirit has made you its leaders. Feed and care for the church of God. He bought it with His own blood.

Yo les ruego que piensen en ustedes mismos, y que velen por el rebaño sobre el cual el Espíritu Santo los ha puesto como obispos, para que cuiden de la iglesia del Señor, que el ganó por su propia sangre.

29 “ Yes, I know that when I am gone, hungry wolves will come in among you. They will try to destroy the church.

Yo sé bien que después de mi partida vendrán lobos rapaces, que no perdonarán al rebaño.

30 A lso men from your own group will begin to teach things that are not true. They will get men to follow them.

Aun entre ustedes mismos, algunos se levantarán y con sus mentiras arrastrarán tras de sí a los discípulos.

31 I say again, keep watching! Remember that for three years I taught everyone of you night and day, even with tears.

Por lo tanto, manténganse atentos y recuerden que noche y día, durante tres años, con lágrimas en los ojos siempre he aconsejado a cada uno de ustedes.

32 “ And now, my brothers, I give you over to God and to the word of His love. It is able to make you strong and to give you what you are to have, along with all those who are set apart for God.

Ahora los encomiendo a Dios y a su palabra de bondad, la cual puede edificarlos y darles la herencia prometida con todos los que han sido santificados.

33 I have not tried to get anyone’s money or clothes.

Nunca he codiciado la plata ni el oro ni el vestido de nadie.

34 Y ou all know that these hands worked for what I needed and for what those with me needed.

Bien saben ustedes que mis manos me han servido para ganar lo que nos faltaba a mí y a los que están conmigo.

35 I n every way I showed you that by working hard like this we can help those who are weak. We must remember what the Lord Jesus said, ‘We are more happy when we give than when we receive.’ ”

Siempre les enseñé, y ustedes lo aprendieron, que a los necesitados se les ayuda trabajando como he trabajado yo, y recordando las palabras del Señor Jesús, que dijo: “Hay más bendición en dar que en recibir.”»

36 A s he finished talking, he got down on his knees and prayed with them all.

Dicho esto, Pablo se puso de rodillas y oró con ellos.

37 T hey cried and put their arms around Paul and kissed him.

Todos comenzaron a llorar y, echándose al cuello de Pablo, lo besaron,

38 W hat made them sad most of all was he said that they would never see his face again. Then they went with him to the ship.

pues les dolió mucho el que dijera que no lo volverían a ver. Después de eso, lo acompañaron hasta el barco.
