1 T he Word of the Lord came to me on the tenth day of the tenth month in the ninth year, saying,

El día diez del mes décimo del año noveno la palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

2 “ Son of man, put down in writing this day, this very day. The king of Babylon has shut Jerusalem in with his army this very day.

«Hijo de hombre, escribe la fecha de hoy, porque hoy el rey de Babilonia ha sitiado a Jerusalén.

3 A nd tell a picture-story to these sinful people of Israel. Tell them, ‘The Lord God says, “Put the pot on the fire. Put it on, and pour water in it.

Y a ese pueblo rebelde dile de mi parte la siguiente parábola. Toma una olla, y llénala de agua;

4 P ut all the good pieces of meat in it, the thigh, the shoulder. And fill it with the best bones.

pon luego en ella la mejores piezas de carne, como la pierna y la espalda, y luego llénala con los mejores huesos.

5 T ake the best of the flock. Put more and more wood under the pot to make it boil, and boil the bones in it.”

Toma entonces una de las mejores ovejas y echa en el fondo los huesos, y haz que hierva bien para que también los huesos se cuezan.»

6 ’ For the Lord God says, “It is bad for the city of blood, for the rusted pot whose rust has not been cleaned out of it! Take the pieces of meat out of it without choosing them.

Así ha dicho Dios el Señor: «¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria! ¡Ay de la olla oxidada, cuya herrumbre no se puede limpiar! ¡Saca las piezas de carne, una por una! ¡No las escojas!

7 F or the blood of the city has been poured on the rock. It was not poured on the ground where the dust would cover it.

Sus calles están llenas de sangre, la cual no derramó en el suelo para que la tierra la absorbiera, sino que la derramó sobre las piedras.

8 I have put the blood on the rock where it could not be covered, so that it would cause anger and punishment.”

Pues yo también dejaré que su sangre corra sobre las duras piedras, y que no sea absorbida por la tierra, porque ha hecho que mi ira se encienda; ¡me ha incitado a tomar venganza!»

9 S o the Lord God says, “It is bad for the city of blood! I will put much wood on the fire.

Por tanto, así ha dicho Dios el Señor: «¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria! Pues yo también voy a hacer una gran hoguera.

10 P ut on more and more wood, and make the fire burn. Boil the meat well. Mix in the spices, and let the bones be burned up.

Voy a amontonar la leña y a encender el fuego para que la carne se consuma. Voy a preparar la salsa y a quemar los huesos.

11 N ow set the empty pot on the coals until it becomes hot and its brass becomes bright with the heat. Then what is not clean in it will melt away. Its rust will be destroyed.

Pondré luego la olla vacía sobre las brasas, para que su fondo se caldee y se queme. ¡Así se fundirá su suciedad y se consumirá su herrumbre!

12 B ut it has been all for nothing. Its rust has not left it, not even by fire.

No tiene caso tratar de quitarle tanta herrumbre, pues sólo se le quitará quemándola en el fuego.

13 I t is sin that makes you unclean. I have tried to make you clean, but you would not be made clean from your sins. So you will not be clean again until My anger against you is finished.

»Tú, Jerusalén, sufrirás por tu impureza y tu lujuria. Yo te limpié, pero tú no has querido limpiarte de tu impureza. Por eso, ¡no volverás a limpiarte, hasta que yo haya calmado mi enojo contra ti.

14 I , the Lord, have spoken. The time has come for Me to act. I will not hold back, I will not pity, and I will not be sorry. I will punish you for your ways and for what you have done,” says the Lord God.’” Ezekiel’s Wife Dies

15 T he Word of the Lord came to me saying,

La palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

16 “ Son of man, with one blow I am about to take away from you the desire of your eyes. But do not have sorrow or loud crying or any tears.

«Mira, hijo de hombre: voy a arrebatarte de un solo golpe a la mujer que admiras. Pero no llores por ella ni lamentes su muerte. No derrames por ella una sola lágrima.

17 C ry inside yourself. Do not show sorrow for the dead. Put your head-covering on. Put your shoes on your feet. Do not cover your face or eat the bread of those in sorrow.”

Respira profundo y no guardes luto por ella. No te cubras el rostro ni comas el pan que comen los deudos; al contrario, ponte un turbante sobre la cabeza y cálzate los pies.»

18 S o I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I was told.

Por la mañana hablé con el pueblo, por la tarde murió mi mujer, y al día siguiente hice lo que el Señor me había ordenado hacer.

19 A nd the people said to me, “Will you not tell us what these things you are doing mean for us?”

Entonces el pueblo me dijo: «¿No vas a decirnos lo que significa para nosotros todo lo que haces?»

20 S o I said to them, “The Word of the Lord came to me saying,

Y yo les contesté: «La palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me ordenó

21 ’ Tell the people of Israel, “The Lord God says, ‘I am about to let sin fill My holy place, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the happiness of your soul. And your sons and daughters you have left behind will be killed by the sword.

decir de su parte a ustedes, pueblo de Israel: “Yo, su Señor y Dios, declaro que voy a profanar mi santuario, al que ustedes tanto admiran y en el cual se deleitan, y de cuya grandeza ustedes se enorgullecen. Y los hijos y las hijas que ustedes han dejado morirán a filo de espada.”

22 T hen you will do as I have done. You will not cover your face or eat the bread of those in sorrow.

Así que ustedes deben hacer lo mismo que hice yo: no se cubrirán el rostro, ni comerán el pan que comen los deudos.

23 Y our heads will be covered and your shoes will be on your feet. You will not have sorrow or cry. But you will waste away in your sins and cry in pain to one another.

Tampoco llorarán ni harán lamentaciones; al contrario, se pondrán un turbante en la cabeza y se calzarán los pies, y se consumirán por causa de sus maldades y gemirán los unos con los otros.

24 S o Ezekiel will be something special for you to see. You will do just as he has done. When this happens, you will know that I am the Lord God.’”

Yo, Ezequiel, les serviré de señal para que hagan lo mismo que hice yo. Cuando esto ocurra, sabrán que yo soy el Señor su Dios.

25 ‘ Son of man, I will take away their strong-place that was their joy and pride, the desire of their eyes and the things their hearts wanted most. And I will take away their sons and their daughters.

»En cuanto a ti, hijo de hombre, el día que yo les arrebate su fortaleza, su motivo de gozo y de orgullo, ese templo que ellos y sus hijos e hijas tanto admiran y aman,

26 O n that day, one who gets away will come to you with the news.

ese mismo día vendrá a verte uno que habrá escapado para traerte las noticias.

27 T hat same day your mouth will be opened. You will speak with him and no longer be quiet. So you will be something special for them to see, and they will know that I am the Lord.’”

Ese día podrás abrir la boca para hablar con el fugitivo. Ya no permanecerás mudo, sino que hablarás y les servirás de señal. Así sabrán que yo soy el Señor.»
