1 T he special word about the Valley of Visions: What is wrong, that you have all gone up to the house tops,

Profecía acerca del valle de la visión. ¿Qué te pasa, que has subido a las azoteas con todos los tuyos?

2 y ou who were full of noise, you loud town, you joy-filled city? Your dead were not killed with the sword. They did not die in battle.

Tú, ciudad turbulenta y alegre, llena de alborotos: tus muertos no murieron a filo de espada, ni cayeron en batalla.

3 A ll your rulers have run away together, and were taken without using the bow. All of you who were found were taken away together, even though you had run far away.

Todos tus príncipes huyeron juntos de las flechas; todos los que estaban dentro de ti fueron atados en grupo cuando intentaban huir.

4 S o I said, “Turn your eyes away from me. Let me cry with much sorrow. Do not try to comfort me about my people being destroyed.”

Por eso pido que me dejen llorar amargamente; no traten de consolarme por la destrucción de la hija de mi pueblo.

5 F or the Lord God of All has a day of fear, crushing down, and trouble in the Valley of Vision. There is a breaking down of walls and a crying out to the mountain.

Porque éste es un día de alboroto, de angustia y de confusión, de parte de Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos. En el valle de la visión se derriban muros, y se oye clamor por los montes.

6 E lam took up the arrows with the war-wagons, soldiers and horsemen. And Kir let the battle-covering be seen.

Elam tomó la aljaba, y carros y jinetes; Quir preparó el escudo.

7 Y our best valleys were full of war-wagons, and the horsemen took their places at the gate.

Tus hermosos valles se llenaron de carros, y gente de a caballo acampó a la entrada de la ciudad.

8 T hen God took away the safe-covering of Judah. In that day you trusted in the objects you had to fight with that were stored in the house among the trees.

Las defensas de Judá quedaron al descubierto. Ese día ustedes dirigían la mirada hacia el arsenal en la casa del bosque,

9 Y ou saw that there were many broken places in the wall of the city of David. You stored water in the lower pool.

y vieron multiplicarse las brechas en la ciudad de David; recogieron las aguas del estanque inferior,

10 T hen you numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and tore down houses to make the wall stronger.

contaron las casas de Jerusalén y las derribaron para reforzar la muralla;

11 Y ou made a place to store water between the two walls for the waters of the old pool. But you did not trust in God Who made it. You did not think about Him Who planned it long ago.

hicieron un foso entre los dos muros para el agua del estanque viejo, pero sin la menor consideración para el que lo hizo y le dio forma.

12 S o in that day the Lord God of All called you to cry in sorrow, to cut off the hair from your head, and to wear cloth made from hair.

Ese día Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos, los convocó al llanto y al lamento, a raparse el cabello y a vestirse de cilicio;

13 B ut instead, there is joy and happiness, killing of cattle and sheep, eating of meat, and drinking of wine. You say, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”

pero ustedes prefirieron gozar y divertirse, matar vacas y degollar ovejas, comer carne y beber vino. Y decían: «Comamos y bebamos, que mañana moriremos.»

14 B ut the Lord of All has made Himself known to me. The Lord God of All says, “For sure you will not be forgiven for this sin until you die.” Word about Shebna

Por su parte, el Señor de los ejércitos me dijo al oído: «Este pecado no les será perdonado, hasta que hayan muerto.» Lo ha dicho Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos. Fin de Sebna y promesa a Eliaquín

15 T he Lord God of All says, “Come, go to this person in Shebna who is taking care of the king’s house. Say to him,

Así dice Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos: «Ve a donde está ese tesorero, el mayordomo Sebna, y dile:

16 ‘ What right do you have here? Who told you that you could cut out a grave for yourself here? You cut out a grave on a high place! You cut a resting place for yourself in the rock!

“¿Qué tienes tú aquí, o a quién tienes aquí, que te has labrado un sepulcro en lo alto? ¿Por qué esculpes para ti una casa en la roca?

17 S ee, the Lord will throw you away without pity, O you strong man. He will take a strong hold of you

Mira que el Señor va a llevarte en duro cautiverio, y te cubrirá el rostro;

18 a nd roll you up like a ball to be thrown into a wide land. There you will die, and there your great war-wagons will be. You are a shame to your king’s house.’

te hará rodar con fuerza, como una rueda por el llano, y así morirás. ¡En eso acabarán tus espléndidos carros, tú que eres la vergüenza de la casa de tu amo!

19 I will throw you out of your place of power. I will take you down from your place.

¡Yo te arrojaré de tu puesto! ¡Yo te destituiré!

20 I n that day I will call My servant Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah.

Y ese mismo día llamaré a mi siervo Eliaquín hijo de Hilcías,

21 I will clothe him with your coat, and tie your belt around him. I will give him the power you had. He will become a father to the people of Jerusalem and to the family of Judah.

y le pondré tus vestiduras; lo ceñiré con tu cinto y le entregaré tu autoridad; y él será como un padre para los habitantes de Jerusalén y para la casa de Judá.

22 T hen I will put on his shoulder the rule of the family of David. What he opens, no one will shut. What he shuts, no one will open.

Yo le entregaré la llave de la casa de David. Lo que él abra, nadie podrá cerrarlo; lo que él cierre, nadie podrá abrirlo.

23 I will drive him like a nail in a hard place. He will become a throne of honor to his father’s house.

En el lugar donde yo lo ponga quedará firme como un clavo, y será un trono honroso para la casa de su padre.

24 S o they will put on him all the honor of his father’s house, and of his children, and every little dish, from the cups to all the jars.

De él penderá toda la honra de la casa de su padre, de sus hijos y sus nietos, y de todos sus parientes menores en importancia.

25 “ In that day,” says the Lord of All, “the nail driven in a hard place will give way. It will break off and fall, and the load hanging on it will be cut off. For the Lord has spoken.”

Pero vendrá el día en que ese clavo, que estaba en lugar firme, será removido y destrozado; se vendrá abajo, y la carga que de él pendía se hará pedazos.”» —Palabra del Señor de los ejércitos.
