1 T he Word of the Lord came to me saying,

La palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

2 “ Son of man, this is what the Lord God says to the land of Israel: ‘The end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.

«Escucha, hijo de hombre, que así ha dicho Dios el Señor a la tierra de Israel: Ya viene el fin. Ya está cerca, sobre los cuatro extremos de la tierra.

3 N ow the end is upon you. I will send My anger against you and punish you because of your ways. I will make you pay for all your sinful actions.

Tu fin ha llegado. Voy a descargar mi furor sobre ti; voy a dictar sentencia contra ti, según tus acciones; voy a echarte en cara todas tus repugnantes acciones.

4 M y eye will have no pity on you. And I will not let you go without punishment. I will punish you for your ways, and for the hated sins that are among you. Then you will know that I am the Lord!’

No te quitaré los ojos de encima, ni tendré misericordia de ti. Al contrario, te castigaré por tu mala conducta y por tus repugnantes acciones. Así sabrás que yo soy el Señor.»

5 “ The Lord God says, ‘See, much trouble is coming!

Así ha dicho Dios el Señor: «¡Fíjate bien, que viene una calamidad!

6 A n end has come! The end has come! It has come up against you. See, it has come!

Se acerca el fin. Llega ya. El fin se ha despertado y viene contra ti.

7 Y our punishment has come upon you, O you who live in the land. The time has come. The day is near. The sound of trouble and not of joy is upon the mountains.

La mañana viene hacia ti, habitante de esta tierra. Se acerca la hora. Cercano está el día. Será sobre los montes un día de tumulto, y no de alegría.

8 N ow I will soon pour out My anger upon you. I will send My anger against you. I will punish you for your ways and for the hated sins that are among you.

Muy pronto derramaré mi enojo sobre ti, y saciaré en ti mi furor. Dictaré sentencia contra ti, de acuerdo con tu mala conducta, y te haré pagar por tus repugnantes acciones.

9 M y eye will show no pity, and I will not let you go without punishment. I will make you pay for your ways, and for the hated sins that are among you. Then you will know that it is I, the Lord, Who punishes you.

No te voy a perdonar. No voy a tenerte misericordia. Te castigaré conforme a tu mala conducta, y exhibiré tus actos repugnantes. Así sabrás que yo soy el Señor, el que castiga.

10 ‘ See, the day! See, it is coming! The time for your punishment has come. The power against you has started to grow. Pride has begun to grow.

»Ya viene el día, ya viene. Ya ha llegado la mañana. Ha florecido ya la vara, y ha reverdecido la soberbia.

11 A ngry action has grown into a power of sin. None of them will be left. None of their people, none of their riches, or anything of honor, will be left among them.

Se yergue la violencia como vara de maldad. Pero de todos ellos no habrá uno solo que quede con vida, ni habrá tampoco entre ellos nadie que se lamente.

12 T he time has come. The day has come. Let not the one who buys have joy, or the one who sells have sorrow. For anger is against all their people.

Llegó el momento; llegó el día. Que no se alegre el que compra, ni llore el que vende, porque mi ira caerá sobre toda esta multitud.

13 F or the one who sells will not get back what he has sold as long as both of them live. For the punishment of all their people will not be turned back. Because of their sins, not one of them will keep his life.

El que venda no volverá a poseer lo que vendió, aun cuando quede con vida. La visión sobre toda esta multitud no será revocada, porque por causa de su iniquidad ninguno quedará con vida.

14 ‘ They have sounded the horn and made everything ready, but no one is going to the battle. For My anger is against all their people.

»Se tocará la trompeta, y prepararán todas sus armas, pero nadie saldrá al campo de batalla, porque mi ira pesa sobre toda esta multitud.

15 T he sword is outside, and disease and hunger are inside. He who is in the field will die by the sword. And he who is in the city will be destroyed by disease and hunger.

Fuera de la ciudad, morirán a filo de espada; dentro de la ciudad, morirán de hambre y por la peste. El que esté en el campo de batalla morirá a filo de espada, y el que esté en la ciudad será consumido por el hambre y la peste.

16 W hoever gets away alive will be on the mountains like doves of the valleys. Each of them will be crying in sorrow because of his sin.

Los que logren escapar huirán a los montes, y estarán gimoteando como las palomas de los valles, cada uno por causa de su iniquidad.

17 A ll hands will hang without strength, and all knees will be as weak as water.

Se les debilitarán las manos, y como si fueran chorros de agua se les doblarán las rodillas.

18 T hey will dress themselves in cloth made from hair. Much fear will cover them. Shame will be upon all faces, and the hair will be cut from all their heads.

Se vestirán de luto, y se llenarán de pavor; todos los rostros se cubrirán de vergüenza, y todas las cabezas quedarán rapadas.

19 T hey will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will become an unclean thing. Their silver and gold will not be able to help them in the day of the Lord’s anger. They cannot stop their hunger or fill their stomachs with it. For riches have been the cause of their falling into sin.

Arrojarán su plata y su oro a la calle, y no habrá quien los recoja; en el día del furor del Señor, ¡ni su plata ni su oro podrá salvarlos! No podrán saciar su apetito ni satisfacer su hambre, porque sus riquezas y su maldad los hicieron tropezar.

20 T hey turned the beauty of gold into objects of pride, and made their hated objects of worship with it. So I will make it an unclean thing to them.

Yo convertí todo eso en algo repugnante porque ellos, en su soberbia, convirtieron todo ese esplendor y ornamento en imágenes de sus ídolos aborrecibles.

21 I will give it to the strangers and to the sinful people of the earth as a prize of war, and they will make it sinful.

Y ya he puesto sus riquezas en manos de gente extraña, para que las saqueen y las profanen, y para que sean botín de los impíos de la tierra.

22 I will turn My face from them, and they will make My secret place sinful. Robbers will go into it and make it sinful.

Yo les volveré la espalda, y mi lugar más íntimo será violentado, pues en él entrarán invasores que lo profanarán.

23 ‘ Make chains, for the land is guilty of blood and the city is full of angry actions.

»Haz cadenas, porque el país está lleno de homicidios y la ciudad está llena de violencia.

24 S o I will bring the worst of the nations to take their houses for their own. I will put an end to the pride of the strong ones, and their holy places will become unclean.

Por eso traeré a la nación más perversa, para que se adueñe de sus casas; voy a poner fin a la soberbia de los poderosos, y sus santuarios serán profanados.

25 W hen suffering comes, they will look for peace, but there will be none.

Ya viene la destrucción, y buscarán la paz, pero no la hallarán.

26 T rouble will come upon trouble, and one story will come after another. They will look for a special dream from a man of God, but the Law will be lost from the religious leader. And wisdom will be lost from the leaders.

Sufrirán calamidad tras calamidad, y oirán rumor tras rumor, y buscarán una respuesta en los labios del profeta, pero ni los sacerdotes ni los ancianos podrán guiarlos ni aconsejarlos.

27 T he king will be full of sorrow. The king’s son will be covered with fear. And the hands of the people of the land will shake in fear. I will punish them for their ways. I will give them the punishment they have earned. And they will know that I am the Lord.’”

El rey se vestirá de luto, el príncipe se cubrirá de tristeza, y al pueblo le temblarán las manos. Y es que voy a darles lo que merecen sus acciones, y a dictar sentencia contra ellos conforme a su manera de impartir justicia. Así sabrán que yo soy el Señor.»
