1 O people of Israel, hear this word which the Lord has spoken against you and against the whole family which He brought up from the land of Egypt.

Hijos de Israel, ésta es la palabra que el Señor ha pronunciado contra ustedes, contra toda la familia que él sacó de la tierra de Egipto. Escuchen bien:

2 “ You are the only ones I have chosen among all the families of the earth. So I must punish you for all your sins.”

«Sólo a ustedes los he elegido de entre todas las familias de la tierra. Por lo tanto, yo los castigaré por todas sus maldades.»

3 D o two men walk together unless they have made an agreement?

¿Andan dos juntos, si no están de acuerdo?

4 D oes a lion make noise among the trees when he has no food? Does a young lion cry out from his home if he has not caught anything?

¿Ruge el león en la selva sin que haya presa? ¿Ruge el cachorro en su guarida, sin apresar nada?

5 D oes a bird fall into a trap on the ground when there is no food to tempt it? Does a trap jump up from the ground when it does not catch anything?

¿Cae el ave en la trampa, sin que haya cazador? ¿Salta del suelo la trampa sin que haya atrapado algo?

6 A re not the people afraid when a horn is blown in a city? When trouble comes to a city, has not the Lord caused it?

¿Se da la alarma en la ciudad, sin que el pueblo se alborote? ¿Pasa algo malo en la ciudad, que el Señor no haya hecho?

7 F or sure the Lord does not do anything without making His plan known to His servants who speak for Him.

Lo cierto es que nada hace el Señor sin antes revelarlo a sus siervos los profetas.

Si el león ruge, ¿quién no tiembla? Si el Señor habla, ¿quién no profetiza? Destrucción de Samaria

9 S ay to the people who live in the strong cities of Ashdod and Egypt, “Gather together on the mountains of Samaria. See all the trouble within her and how her people suffer.

Proclamen en los palacios de Asdod, y en los palacios de Egipto, y digan: «Reúnanse sobre los montes de Samaria, y vean cuánta opresión y violencia se comete en esa ciudad.

No saben hacer lo recto. En sus palacios atesoran el fruto de su rapiña.» —Palabra del Señor.

Por lo tanto, así ha dicho el Señor: «De todos los rincones de la tierra vendrá un enemigo, y derribará tu fortaleza y saqueará tus palacios.»

12 T he Lord says, “As the shepherd saves from the lion’s mouth just two legs or a piece of an ear, so will the people of Israel living in Samaria be saved, with the corner of a bed and a part of a cover.

Así ha dicho el Señor: «Los hijos de Israel, que en Samaria se entronizan en el borde de una cama o en el costado de un diván, escaparán como cuando un pastor logra rescatar, de las fauces del león, sólo dos piernas de una oveja, o la punta de una oreja.

13 H ear and speak against the family of Jacob,” says the Lord God, the God of All.

»¡Escuchen esto, y háganlo saber a la casa de Jacob! —Palabra del Señor, el Dios de los ejércitos.
