1 A fter that Paul went from the city of Athens and came to the city of Corinth.

Después de esto, Pablo salió de Atenas y se fue a Corinto.

2 H e met a Jew there named Aquila who was born in the country of Pontus. He had lived in the country of Italy a short time. His wife Priscilla was with him. Claudius, who was the leader of the country, had told all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see Aquila and Priscilla.

Allí se encontró con un judío que se llamaba Aquila, nacido en el Ponto, y que había llegado recientemente de Italia junto con Priscila, su mujer, porque Claudio había ordenado que todos los judíos salieran de Roma. Pablo fue a verlos

3 T hey made tents for a living. Paul did the same kind of work so he stayed with them and they worked together.

4 E very Day of Rest he would go to the Jewish place of worship and teach both Jews and Greeks.

y todos los días de reposo debatía en la sinagoga y lograba persuadir a judíos y a griegos.

5 S ilas and Timothy came down from the country of Macedonia. Then Paul used all his time preaching to the Jews. He taught that Jesus was the Christ.

Cuando Silas y Timoteo llegaron de Macedonia, Pablo estaba totalmente dedicado a la predicación de la palabra, y les probaba a los judíos que Jesús era el Cristo.

6 B ut they worked against Paul and said bad things about him. He shook his clothes and said, “Whatever happens to you is your own doing. I am free from your guilt. From now on I will go to the people who are not Jews.”

Pero como ellos se oponían y blasfemaban, Pablo se molestó mucho y les dijo: «Que su propia sangre recaiga sobre ustedes. Yo no tengo nada de qué avergonzarme. Desde ahora, me voy a predicar a los no judíos.»

7 P aul went from there and came to the house of a man named Titus Justus who worshiped God. His house was next to the Jewish place of worship.

Al salir de allí, se fue a la casa de Ticio Justo, un hombre que honraba a Dios y que vivía junto a la sinagoga.

8 C rispus was the leader of the Jewish place of worship. He and his family believed in the Lord. Many of the people of Corinth who heard Paul became Christians and were baptized.

Crispo, que era el jefe de la sinagoga, creyó en el Señor junto con toda su familia; y muchos de los corintios que oían a Pablo también creyeron y fueron bautizados.

9 P aul saw the Lord in a dream one night. He said to Paul, “Do not be afraid. Keep speaking. Do not close your mouth.

Una noche, mientras Pablo dormía, el Señor le dijo en una visión: «No temas. Habla y no calles,

10 I am with you. No one will hurt you. I have many people in this city who belong to Me.”

porque yo estoy contigo. Nadie podrá hacerte daño, porque en esta ciudad cuento con mucho pueblo.»

11 F or a year and a half Paul stayed there and taught them the Word of God.

Pablo se quedó allí un año y seis meses, y les enseñaba la palabra de Dios.

12 G allio was leader of the country of Greece. All the Jews worked against Paul and brought him in front of the court.

Cuando Galión era procónsul de Acaya, los judíos que estaban en contra de Pablo se pusieron de acuerdo y lo llevaron ante el tribunal.

13 T hey said, “This man is trying to get people to worship God against the Law.”

Allí dijeron: «Este hombre persuade al pueblo a que honre a Dios, aun en contra de nuestra ley.»

14 P aul was ready to speak, but Gallio said to the Jews, “If this were something bad or a wrong doing, I would listen to you.

Cuando Pablo comenzó a hablar, Galión les dijo: «Si ustedes los judíos acusaran a este hombre de algún agravio o de un crimen muy grave, yo les aseguro que atendería el caso, como corresponde.

15 B ut because it is about words and names and your own Law, you will have to take care of it yourselves. I do not want to judge who is right or wrong in things like this.”

Pero como esto es cuestión de palabras y nombres, y de su propia ley, véanlo ustedes mismos. Yo no quiero meterme en sus cosas.»

16 A nd he sent them out of his court.

Y los echó del tribunal.

17 T hen all the Greek people took Sosthenes, the leader of the Jewish place of worship, and beat him in front of the court. But Gallio did not let this trouble him. Paul Goes Back to Antioch

Entonces se lanzaron sobre Sóstenes, que era el jefe de la sinagoga, y lo golpearon delante del tribunal, pero eso a Galión no le importó nada.

18 P aul stayed in Corinth many days longer. Then he said good-bye and left the followers. He went by ship to the country of Syria with Priscilla and Aquila going with him. In the city of Cenchrea he had his hair cut short because of a promise he had made to God.

Pablo se quedó allí muchos días, pero después se despidió de los hermanos y se embarcó a Siria. Con él se fueron Priscila y Aquila. En Cencrea, Pablo se rapó la cabeza debido a un voto que había hecho.

19 T hey came to the city of Ephesus. Priscilla and Aquila stayed there. Paul went to the Jewish place of worship and argued with the Jews.

Cuando llegaron a Éfeso, Pablo los dejó y entró luego a la sinagoga, donde empezó a debatir con los judíos.

20 T hey wanted him to stay longer but he would not.

Éstos le rogaban que se quedara con ellos más tiempo, pero él no aceptó.

21 A s he left them, he said, (“I must go to the special supper at Jerusalem.) I will return again to you if God wants me to.” Then he got on a ship and left Ephesus.

Al despedirse, les dijo: «Si es la voluntad de Dios, volveré a ustedes.» Y zarpó de Éfeso. Pablo regresa a Antioquía. Comienza su tercer viaje misionero

22 H e stopped in the city of Caesarea to greet the people in the church. Then he went down to the city of Antioch.

Cuando desembarcó en Cesarea, fue a saludar a la iglesia; después de eso regresó a Antioquía

23 P aul stayed there for some time. Then he went from city to city through the countries of Galatia and Phrygia. In each place he helped the Christians become strong in the faith. Aquila and Priscilla Help Apollos in Ephesus

y estuvo allí algún tiempo, pero luego se fue y recorrió la región de Galacia, y luego la de Frigia, para confirmar a todos los discípulos. Apolos predica en Éfeso

24 A Jew by the name of Apollos had come to Ephesus. He was from the city of Alexandria. He could talk to people about the Holy Writings very well.

Por esos días llegó a Éfeso un judío de Alejandría, que se llamaba Apolos. Era muy elocuente, y tenía un sólido conocimiento de las Escrituras;

25 H e had been taught in the way of the Lord. And with a strong desire in his heart, he taught about Jesus. What he said was true, but he knew only about the baptism of John.

además, había sido instruido en el camino del Señor, y con espíritu fervoroso hablaba y enseñaba con precisión todo lo concerniente al Señor. Pero sólo conocía el bautismo de Juan.

26 H e began to speak without fear in the Jewish place of worship. Aquila and Priscilla heard him. They took him to their house and taught him much more about the things of God.

Apolos comenzó a hablar en la sinagoga sin ningún temor, pero cuando Priscila y Aquila lo oyeron, lo llamaron aparte y le expusieron con todo detalle el camino de Dios.

27 A pollos wanted to cross over to Greece. The Christians wrote a letter to the followers there asking them to be good to him. When he got there, he was much help to those who had put their trust in Christ.

Apolos quería ir a Acaya, y los hermanos lo animaron; escribieron a los discípulos de allá para que lo recibieran y, cuando él llegó, fue de mucho provecho para los que, por la gracia de Dios, habían creído,

28 I n front of everyone he proved with great power that the Jews were wrong. He showed from the Holy Writings that Jesus was the Christ.

pues con mucha vehemencia refutaba en público a los judíos, y con las Escrituras les demostraba que Jesús era el Cristo.
