1 T hen Solomon began to build the Lord’s house in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah. It was there that the Lord had shown Himself to his father David. It was the place that David had chosen, on the grain-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Salomón comenzó a edificar el templo del Señor en el monte Moriah, en Jerusalén, en el lugar que David había preparado en la era de Ornán el jebuseo, y que le había sido mostrado.

2 S olomon began to build on the second day in the second month of the fourth year of his rule.

Comenzó la construcción a los dos días del mes segundo del cuarto año de su reinado.

3 H e laid the base for building the house of God. It was thirty long steps, using the old way to find the length. And it was ten long steps wide.

Los cimientos que Salomón puso al templo de Dios medían sesenta codos de largo y veinte codos de ancho.

4 T he porch in front of the house was as long as the house was wide, ten long steps. It was thirty-three times taller than a man. And he covered the inside with pure gold.

El pórtico que estaba al frente del edificio medía veinte codos de largo, lo mismo que el ancho del templo, y ciento veinte codos de altura. Lo recubrió por dentro de oro puro,

5 H e covered the large room with cypress wood, and covered that with fine gold. Then he made palm trees and chains on it.

y el cuerpo mayor del edificio lo techó con madera de ciprés, la cual recubrió de oro fino, con molduras de palmeras y cadenas.

6 H e put stones of much worth on the house for beauty. And the gold was from Parvaim.

También recubrió el templo de piedras preciosas para adornarlo. El oro era de Parvaim.

7 H e covered the house with gold. He covered its cross-pieces, its door-ways, its walls, and its doors. And he cut pictures of cherubim on the walls.

De modo que recubrió de oro el templo y sus vigas, umbrales, paredes y puertas, y en las paredes esculpió querubines.

8 H e made the most holy place. It was as long as the house was wide, ten long steps. And it was as wide as ten long steps. He covered it with fine gold weighing as much as 600 men.

Salomón hizo además el lugar santísimo, y medía veinte codos de largo y veinte codos de ancho, como el ancho del frente del templo, y lo recubrió con cerca de veinte mil kilos de oro fino.

9 T he nails weighed as much as fifty pieces of gold. He covered the rooms on the second floor with gold also.

También recubrió de oro los aposentos. Los clavos eran de oro y cada uno pesaba más de quinientos gramos.

10 T hen he made two cherubim of wood in the most holy place, and covered them with gold.

En el interior del lugar santísimo puso dos querubines de madera, los cuales fueron recubiertos de oro.

11 T he wings of the cherubim spread as far as ten long steps. The wing of one was as long as three steps, and touched the wall of the house. Its other wing was as long as three steps, and touched the wing of the other cherub.

Las alas de los querubines medían veinte codos de largo, pues cada ala medía cinco codos y llegaba hasta la pared del templo, y la otra ala de cinco codos tocaba el ala del otro querubín.

12 T he wing of the other cherub was as long as three steps, and touched the wall of the house. Its other wing was as long as three steps, and was joined to the wing of the first cherub.

De igual manera, un ala del otro querubín era de cinco codos y llegaba hasta la pared del templo, y la otra era también de cinco codos y tocaba un ala del otro querubín.

13 T he wings of these cherubim spread as far as ten long steps. And they stood on their feet with their faces toward the holy place.

Las alas extendidas de estos querubines medían veinte codos, y estaban de pie y con los rostros en dirección al templo.

14 H e made the curtain of blue, purple and red cloth and fine linen. And he worked cherubim on it.

Salomón hizo también el velo de azul, púrpura, carmesí y lino, y mandó bordar querubines en él. Las dos columnas

15 H e made two pillars in front of the house that were ten times taller than a man. The top piece of each one was as tall as a man can raise his hand.

En el frente del templo hizo dos columnas, cada una de las cuales medía treinta y cinco codos de altura. Cada capitel medía cinco codos.

16 F or the inside holy place he made chains, and put them on the tops of the pillars. Then he made 100 pomegranates and put them on the chains.

Además, hizo cadenas para el santuario, y las puso sobre los capiteles de las columnas. Hizo también cien granadas, y las puso en las cadenas.

17 H e put up the pillars in front of the house of God. One was on the right and the other was on the left. He named the one on the right Jachin, and the one on the left Boaz.

Las columnas las colocó delante del templo, una a la derecha y la otra a la izquierda. A la que estaba a la derecha la llamó Jaquín, y a la que estaba a la izquierda la llamó Boaz.
