1 T hen Solomon began to build the Lord’s house in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah. It was there that the Lord had shown Himself to his father David. It was the place that David had chosen, on the grain-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Salomone cominciò a costruire la casa del Signore a Gerusalemme sul monte Moria, dove il Signore era apparso a Davide suo padre, nel luogo che Davide aveva preparato, nell’aia di Ornan, il Gebuseo.
2 S olomon began to build on the second day in the second month of the fourth year of his rule.

3 H e laid the base for building the house of God. It was thirty long steps, using the old way to find the length. And it was ten long steps wide.
Queste sono le misure delle fondamenta gettate da Salomone per la costruzione della casa di Dio: la lunghezza, in cubiti dell’antica misura, era di sessanta cubiti; la larghezza, di venti cubiti.
4 T he porch in front of the house was as long as the house was wide, ten long steps. It was thirty-three times taller than a man. And he covered the inside with pure gold.
Il portico, sul davanti della casa, aveva venti cubiti di lunghezza, corrispondenti alla larghezza della casa, e centoventi di altezza. Salomone ricoprì d’oro finissimo l’interno della casa.
5 H e covered the large room with cypress wood, and covered that with fine gold. Then he made palm trees and chains on it.
Egli ricoprì la casa maggiore di legno di cipresso, poi la rivestì d’oro finissimo e vi fece scolpire delle palme e delle catenelle.
6 H e put stones of much worth on the house for beauty. And the gold was from Parvaim.
Rivestì questa casa di pietre preziose per ornamento; e l’oro era di quello di Parvaim.
7 H e covered the house with gold. He covered its cross-pieces, its door-ways, its walls, and its doors. And he cut pictures of cherubim on the walls.
Rivestì pure d’oro la casa, le travi, gli stipiti, le pareti e le porte, e sulle pareti fece intagliare dei cherubini.
8 H e made the most holy place. It was as long as the house was wide, ten long steps. And it was as wide as ten long steps. He covered it with fine gold weighing as much as 600 men.
Costruì il luogo santissimo. Esso aveva venti cubiti di lunghezza, corrispondenti alla larghezza della casa, e venti cubiti di larghezza. Lo ricoprì d’oro finissimo, del valore di seicento talenti;
9 T he nails weighed as much as fifty pieces of gold. He covered the rooms on the second floor with gold also.
e il peso dell’oro per i chiodi era di cinquanta sicli. Rivestì d’oro anche le camere superiori.
10 T hen he made two cherubim of wood in the most holy place, and covered them with gold.
Nel luogo santissimo fece scolpire due statue di cherubini, che furono ricoperti d’oro.
11 T he wings of the cherubim spread as far as ten long steps. The wing of one was as long as three steps, and touched the wall of the house. Its other wing was as long as three steps, and touched the wing of the other cherub.
Le ali dei cherubini avevano venti cubiti di lunghezza. L’ala del primo, lunga cinque cubiti, toccava la parete della casa; anche l’altra ala, pure di cinque cubiti, toccava l’ala del secondo cherubino.
12 T he wing of the other cherub was as long as three steps, and touched the wall of the house. Its other wing was as long as three steps, and was joined to the wing of the first cherub.
L’ala del secondo cherubino, lunga cinque cubiti, toccava la parete della casa; l’altra ala, pure di cinque cubiti, arrivava all’ala dell’altro cherubino.
13 T he wings of these cherubim spread as far as ten long steps. And they stood on their feet with their faces toward the holy place.
Le ali di questi cherubini, spiegate, misuravano venti cubiti. Essi stavano in piedi e avevano le facce rivolte verso la sala.
14 H e made the curtain of blue, purple and red cloth and fine linen. And he worked cherubim on it.
Fece la cortina di filo violaceo, porporino, scarlatto e di bisso, e vi fece ricamare dei cherubini.
15 H e made two pillars in front of the house that were ten times taller than a man. The top piece of each one was as tall as a man can raise his hand.
Fece pure davanti alla casa due colonne di trentacinque cubiti d’altezza; e il capitello, in cima a ciascuna, era di cinque cubiti.
16 F or the inside holy place he made chains, and put them on the tops of the pillars. Then he made 100 pomegranates and put them on the chains.
Fece delle catenelle, come quelle che erano nel santuario, e le pose in cima alle colonne; e fece cento melagrane, che sospese alle catenelle.
17 H e put up the pillars in front of the house of God. One was on the right and the other was on the left. He named the one on the right Jachin, and the one on the left Boaz.
Eresse le colonne davanti al tempio: una a destra e l’altra a sinistra; e chiamò quella di destra Iachin, e quella di sinistra Boaz.
