1 T he Word of the Lord came to me saying,

e di’ a Tiro, che sta agli approdi del mare, che porta le mercanzie dei popoli a molte isole: Così parla il Signore, Dio: “O Tiro, tu dici: ‘Io sono di una perfetta bellezza’.

4 Y our home is on the sea. Your builders have made you perfect in beauty.

Il tuo dominio è nel cuore dei mari; i tuoi costruttori ti hanno fatto di una bellezza perfetta:

5 T hey made your pieces of wood from the fir trees from Senir. They made the wood that holds your sail out of a cedar from Lebanon.

hanno costruito di cipresso di Senir tutte le tue pareti; hanno preso cedri del Libano per fare l’alberatura delle tue navi;

6 T hey made your oars out of oak trees from Bashan. They made your floor of ivory and boxwood from the land of Cyprus.

hanno fatto i tuoi remi di querce di Basan; hanno fatto i ponti del tuo naviglio d’avorio incastonato in larice, portato dalle isole di Chittim.

7 Y our sail was made of fine and beautiful linen from Egypt, to show all people who you are. Your covering was made of blue and purple cloth from the land of Elishah.

Il lino fino d’Egitto, lavorato a ricami, è servito per le tue vele e per le tue bandiere; la porpora e lo scarlatto delle isole di Elisa formano i tuoi padiglioni.

8 T he people of Sidon and Arvad were your rowers. Your own wise and able men were your sailors.

Gli abitanti di Sidone e di Arvad sono i tuoi rematori; i tuoi esperti, o Tiro, sono in mezzo a te, sono essi i tuoi piloti.

9 T he leaders and wise men of Gebal were with you, putting tar where it was needed to keep the water out. All the ships of the sea and their sailors were with you to trade for your good things.

Tu hai in mezzo a te gli anziani di Ghebel e i suoi esperti a riparare le tue falle; in te sono tutte le navi del mare con i loro marinai, per fare lo scambio delle tue mercanzie.

10 “ Soldiers from Persia and Lud and Put were in your army. They hung battle-coverings and head-coverings in you, and made you beautiful.

Persiani, Lidi, Libi servono nel tuo esercito; sono uomini di guerra che sospendono in mezzo a te lo scudo e l’elmo, sono il tuo splendore.

11 T he men of Arvad and Helech were on your walls all around. And men of Gammad were in your towers. They hung their battle-coverings all around your walls, and made you perfect in beauty.

I figli di Arvad e il tuo esercito difendono tutto intorno le tue mura; uomini prodi stanno nelle tue torri; essi sospendono i loro scudi tutto intorno alle tue mura; essi rendono perfetta la tua bellezza.

12 “ Tarshish traded with you because of all your riches of every kind. They paid for your good things with silver, iron, tin, and lead.

Tarsis commercia con te, a causa di tutte le ricchezze che possiedi in abbondanza; fornisce i tuoi mercanti d’argento, di ferro, di stagno e di piombo.

13 J avan, Tubal, and Meshech traded with you. They paid for your good things with servants and objects of brass.

14 M en of Beth-togarmah paid for your good things with horses, war horses, and mules.

Quelli della casa di Togarma pagano le tue mercanzie con cavalli da tiro, con cavalli da corsa e con muli.

15 T he men of Dedan traded with you. Many lands beside the sea traded with you, paying you with ivory horns and beautiful dark wood.

I figli di Dedan commerciano con te; il commercio di molte isole passa per le tue mani; ti pagano con denti d’avorio e con ebano.

16 S yria traded with you because of all your good things. They bought them with stones of great worth, purple cloth, cloth with beautiful sewing, fine linen, and coral.

La Siria commercia con te, per la moltitudine dei tuoi prodotti; paga i tuoi prodotti con carbonchi, porpora, stoffe ricamate, bisso, corallo, rubini.

17 J udah and the land of Israel traded with you. They paid for your good things with the grain of Minnith, cakes, honey, oil, and medicine.

Giuda e il paese d’Israele anch’essi commerciano con te; ti danno in cambio grano di Minnit, pasticcerie, miele, olio e balsamo.

18 D amascus traded with you because of all your good things and riches of all kinds. They paid for them with the wine of Helbon and white wool.

Damasco commercia con te, scambiando i tuoi numerosi prodotti con abbondanza di ogni specie di beni, con vino di Chelbon e con lana candida.

19 V edan and Javan traded with you from Uzal. They paid you with pure iron and spices.

Vedan e Iavan di Uzzal riforniscono i tuoi mercati: ferro lavorato, cassia, canna aromatica sono fra i prodotti di scambio.

20 D edan paid you with horse coverings.

Dedan commercia con te in coperte da cavalcatura.

21 A rabia and all the leaders of Kedar traded with you. They paid you with lambs, rams, and goats.

L’Arabia e tutti i prìncipi di Chedar fanno commercio con te, trafficando con te agnelli, montoni, capri.

22 S heba and Raamah traded with you. They paid for your good things with the best of all kinds of spices, stones of great worth, and gold.

I mercanti di Seba e di Raama anch’essi commerciano con te; provvedono i tuoi mercati di tutti i migliori aromi, di ogni tipo di pietre preziose e d’oro.

23 H aran, Canneh, Eden, Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad traded with you.

Caran, Canné e Eden, i mercanti di Seba, d’Assiria, di Chilmad commerciano con te;

24 T hey paid you with the best clothing, clothes of blue cloth and beautiful sewing, floor coverings of many colors, and strong ropes.

trafficano con te oggetti di lusso, mantelli di porpora, ricami, casse di stoffe preziose legate con corde e fatte di cedro.

25 T he ships of Tarshish carried your good things for you. You were filled and honored in the middle of the seas.

Le navi di Tarsis sono la tua flotta per il tuo commercio. Così ti sei riempita, ti sei grandemente arricchita nel cuore dei mari.

26 “ Your rowers have brought you into deep waters. The east wind has wrecked you far out in the sea.

«“I tuoi rematori ti hanno portata nelle grandi acque; il vento d’oriente s’infrange nel cuore dei mari.

27 Y our riches, your good things, the things you trade, your sailors, your pilots, your builders, your traders, all your soldiers, and all your people will fall into the sea on the day you are destroyed.

Le tue ricchezze, i tuoi mercati, la tua mercanzia, i tuoi marinai, i tuoi piloti, i tuoi riparatori, i tuoi negozianti, tutta la tua gente di guerra che è in te, e tutta la moltitudine che è in mezzo a te, cadranno nel cuore dei mari, il giorno della tua rovina.

28 T he lands by the sea will shake at the sound of your sailors’ cry.

Alle grida dei tuoi piloti, le spiagge tremeranno;

29 A ll the rowers and sailors of the sea will leave their ships. They will stand on the land

tutti quelli che maneggiano il remo, i marinai e tutti i piloti del mare scenderanno dalle loro navi e si terranno sulla terra ferma.

30 a nd cry in a loud voice of sorrow over you. They will throw dust on their heads and roll in ashes.

Faranno sentire la loro voce su di te; grideranno amaramente, si getteranno la polvere sul capo, si rotoleranno nella cenere.

31 T hey will cut off their hair because of you, and dress themselves in cloth made from hair. They will cry over you with much sorrow in their soul.

A causa di te si raderanno il capo, si vestiranno di sacchi; per te piangeranno con amarezza d’animo, con cordoglio amaro;

32 I n their crying they will sing a song of sorrow for you, saying, ‘Who is like Tyre, destroyed and quiet in the sea?

nella loro angoscia pronunceranno su di te un lamento, si lamenteranno così riguardo a te: ‘Chi fu mai come Tiro, come questa città, ora distrutta in mezzo al mare?’

33 W hen your good things went out on the sea, you pleased many nations. With all your riches and good things you made the kings of the earth rich.

Quando i tuoi prodotti uscivano dai mari, tu saziavi molti popoli; con l’abbondanza delle ricchezze e del tuo traffico arricchivi i re della terra.

34 N ow you are wrecked by the sea, in the deep waters. Your good things and all your people have gone down with you.

Quando sei stata infranta dai mari, nelle profondità delle acque, la tua mercanzia e tutta la moltitudine che era in mezzo a te sono cadute.

35 A ll the people who live on the islands are full of fear and wonder because of you. Their kings are very afraid. Their faces are troubled.

Tutti gli abitanti delle isole sono sbigottiti a causa di te; i loro re sono presi da spavento, il loro aspetto è sconvolto.

36 T he traders among the nations make sounds of surprise at you. You have come to an end and you will be no more.’”

I mercanti in mezzo ai popoli fischiano su di te; sei diventata uno spavento e non esisterai mai più!”».
