1 “ Hear this, O family of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and who come from the seed of Judah. They make promises in the name of the Lord, and call upon the God of Israel, but not in truth or by what is right and good.

«Ascoltate questo, casa di Giacobbe, voi che siete chiamati con il nome d’Israele e che siete usciti dalla sorgente di Giuda; voi che giurate per il nome del Signore e menzionate il Dio d’Israele, ma senza sincerità; senza giustizia!

2 F or they call themselves people of the holy city, and trust in the God of Israel. The Lord of All is His name.

Poiché prendono il loro nome dalla città santa, si appoggiano sul Dio d’Israele, che si chiama Signore degli eserciti!

3 I made known the things that would happen long ago. From My mouth My words went out. Then all at once I did what I said I would, and they came to pass.

Già anticamente io annunciai le cose verificatesi; esse uscirono dalla mia bocca, io le feci sapere; a un tratto io le effettuai, ed esse avvennero.

4 I know that your heart is hard. Your neck is like iron, and your forehead is like brass.

Siccome io sapevo, Israele, che tu sei ostinato, che il tuo collo ha muscoli di ferro e che la tua fronte è di bronzo,

5 S o I made them known to you long ago. I told you before they happened, or else you might say, ‘My false god has done them. My objects of worship have made them happen.’

io ti annunciai queste cose anticamente; te le feci sapere prima che avvenissero, perché tu non avessi a dire: “Le ha fatte il mio idolo, le ha ordinate la mia immagine scolpita, la mia immagine fusa”.

6 Y ou have heard, now look at all this. And will you say that you will not tell about it? I tell you new things from this time on, even hidden things which you have not known.

Tu hai udito e visto tutto. Non dovreste forse testimoniarlo voi stessi? Ora io ti annuncio cose nuove, cose occulte, a te ignote.

7 T hey are made now, not long ago. Before today you have never heard of them, or you would say, ‘See, I knew them.’

Esse vengono create ora, non risalgono ai tempi antichi; prima di oggi non ne avevi udito parlare, perché tu non abbia a dire: “Ecco, io le sapevo”.

8 Y ou have not heard. You have not known. Even from long ago your ear has not been open, because I knew that you could not be trusted. You have been known to fight against the law and not obey from birth.

No, tu non ne hai udito nulla, non ne hai saputo nulla, nulla in passato te ne è mai venuto alle orecchie, perché sapevo che ti saresti comportato perfidamente e che ti chiami Ribelle fin dal seno materno.

9 B ecause of My name I hold back My anger. For My praise I keep Myself from cutting you off.

Per amore del mio nome io rinvierò la mia ira, e per amore della mia gloria io mi freno per non sterminarti.

10 S ee, I have tested you, but not as silver. I have tested you in the fire of suffering.

Ecco, io ti ho voluto affinare, ma senza ottenere argento; ti ho provato nel crogiuolo dell’afflizione.

11 F or My own good, for My own good, I will do this. For why should I allow My name to be put to shame? I will not give My shining-greatness to another. God Will Take Israel Out of Trouble

Per amore di me stesso, per amore di me stesso io voglio agire; perché infatti dovrei lasciare profanare il mio nome? Io non darò la mia gloria a un altro. Esortazione ad ascoltare Dio

12 “ Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel whom I called. I am He. I am the first, and I am the last.

«Ascoltami, Giacobbe, e tu, Israele, che io ho chiamato. Io sono; io sono il primo e sono pure l’ultimo.

13 M y hand put the earth in its place. And My right hand spread out the heavens. When I call to them, they stand together.

La mia mano ha fondato la terra, la mia destra ha spiegato i cieli; quando io li chiamo, si presentano assieme.

14 G ather together, all of you, and listen! Who among them has made these things known? The Lord loves him. He will do to Babylon what pleases him, and his arm will be against the Babylonians.

Adunatevi tutti quanti e ascoltate! Chi di voi ha annunciato queste cose? Colui che il Signore ama eseguirà il suo volere contro Babilonia, alzerà il suo braccio contro i Caldei.

15 I , even I, have spoken. Yes, I have called him, I have brought him, and he will do well.

Io, io ho parlato, io l’ho chiamato; io l’ho fatto venire e la sua impresa riuscirà.

16 C ome near to Me and listen to this: From the beginning I have not spoken in secret. From the time it came to be, I was there. And now the Lord God has sent me and His Spirit.”

Avvicinatevi a me, ascoltate questo: fin dal principio io non ho parlato in segreto; quando questi fatti avvenivano, io ero presente; ora, il Signore, Dio, mi manda con il suo Spirito.

17 T he Lord Who bought you and saves you, the Holy One of Israel, says, “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to do well, Who leads you in the way you should go.

Così parla il Signore, il tuo Redentore, il Santo d’Israele: “Io sono il Signore, il tuo Dio, che ti insegna per il tuo bene, che ti guida per la via che devi seguire.

18 I f only you had listened to My Laws! Then your peace would have been like a river and your right-standing with God would have been like the waves of the sea.

Se tu fossi stato attento ai miei comandamenti, la tua pace sarebbe come un fiume, la tua giustizia come le onde del mare,

19 Y our children’s children would have been like the sand. Those born to you would have been like the sand. Their name would never be cut off or destroyed from before Me.”

la tua discendenza sarebbe come la sabbia, il frutto del tuo seno come la sabbia del mare; il suo nome non sarebbe cancellato né distrutto davanti a me”».

20 G o out from Babylon! Run from the Babylonians! Call out for joy and let this be known to the end of the earth, saying, “The Lord has bought and set free His servant Jacob!”

Uscite da Babilonia, fuggite lontano dai Caldei! Con voce gioiosa annunciatelo, proclamatelo, diffondetelo fino alle estremità della terra! Dite: «Il Signore ha riscattato il suo servo Giacobbe».

21 T hey were not thirsty when He led them through the deserts. He made water flow out of the rock for them. He broke the rock, and the water flowed out.

Essi non hanno avuto sete quando egli li ha condotti attraverso i deserti; egli ha fatto scaturire per essi acqua dalla roccia; ha spaccato la roccia e ne è colata acqua.

22 “ There is no peace for the sinful,” says the Lord.

«Non c’è pace per gli empi», dice il Signore.
