1 H ear my prayer, O Lord. Listen when I ask for help. Answer me because You are faithful and right.

2 D o not find Your servant guilty, for no man living is right and good in Your eyes.

e non chiamare in giudizio il tuo servo, perché nessun vivente sarà trovato giusto davanti a te.

3 F or the one who hates me has made it hard for my soul. He has crushed my life to the ground. He has made me live in dark places, like those who have been dead for a long time.

Poiché il nemico perseguita l’anima mia; egli calpesta al suolo la mia vita; mi fa abitare in luoghi tenebrosi come coloro che sono morti già da lungo tempo.

4 S o my spirit grows weak within me. My heart within me is afraid.

Il mio spirito è abbattuto in me, il mio cuore è tutto smarrito dentro di me.

5 I remember the days long ago. I think about all You have done. I think about the work of Your hands.

Ricordo i giorni antichi; medito su tutte le tue azioni; rifletto sull’opera delle tue mani.

6 I put out my hands to You. My soul is thirsty for You like a dry land.

Tendo le mani verso di te; l’anima mia, come arida terra, è assetata di te.

7 H urry to answer me, O Lord! My spirit is becoming weak! Do not hide Your face from me, or I will become like those who go down to the grave.

Affrèttati a rispondermi, Signore; lo spirito mio viene meno; non nascondermi il tuo volto, perché io non diventi simile a quelli che scendono nella tomba.

8 L et me hear Your loving-kindness in the morning, for I trust in You. Teach me the way I should go for I lift up my soul to You.

Al mattino fammi udire la tua bontà, perché in te confido; fammi conoscere la via da seguire, poiché io elevo l’anima mia a te.

9 O Lord, take me away from those who hate me. I run to You to be safe.

Liberami dai miei nemici, Signore; io cerco rifugio in te.

10 T each me to do Your will, for You are my God. Let Your good Spirit lead me on a straight path.

Insegnami a fare la tua volontà, poiché tu sei il mio Dio; il tuo Spirito benevolo mi guidi in terra piana.

11 G ive me new life, O Lord, because of Your name. Bring me out of trouble because You are right and good.

Signore, fammi vivere per amore del tuo nome; nella tua giustizia libera l’anima mia dalla tribolazione!

12 I n Your loving-kindness cut off those who hate me. Destroy all those who make it hard for my soul, for I am Your servant.

Nella tua bontà distruggi i miei nemici, fa’ perire tutti quelli che opprimono l’anima mia, perché io sono tuo servo.
