1 N ow Moses went up from the valleys of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, beside Jericho. And the Lord showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan,

4 T hen the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your children.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not go there.”

5 S o Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, as the Word of the Lord said.

Mosè, servo del Signore, morì là nel paese di Moab, come il Signore aveva comandato.

6 A nd He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, beside Beth-peor. But no man knows where he is buried to this day.

E il Signore lo seppellì nella valle, nel paese di Moab, di fronte a Bet-Peor; e nessuno fino a oggi ha mai saputo dov’è la sua tomba.

7 M oses was 120 years old when he died. But his eyes were not weak, and his strength had not left him.

Mosè aveva centovent’anni quando morì; la vista non gli si era indebolita e il vigore non gli era venuto meno.

8 T he children of Israel cried for Moses in the valley of Moab for thirty days. Then the days of crying and sorrow for Moses came to an end.

I figli d’Israele lo piansero nelle pianure di Moab per trenta giorni; si compirono così i giorni del pianto per il lutto per Mosè.

9 N ow Joshua the son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel listened to him and did what the Lord had told Moses.

Giosuè, figlio di Nun, fu pieno dello Spirito di sapienza, perché Mosè aveva imposto le mani sul suo capo; e i figli d’Israele gli ubbidirono e fecero quello che il Signore aveva comandato a Mosè.

10 T here has never been another man who speaks for God in Israel like Moses. The Lord knew him face to face.

Non c’è mai più stato in Israele un profeta simile a Mosè, con il quale il Signore abbia trattato faccia a faccia.

11 T here has never been another like him who has done all the powerful works the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt against Pharaoh, all his servants, and all his land.

Nessuno è stato simile a lui in tutti quei segni e miracoli che il Signore lo mandò a fare nel paese d’Egitto contro il faraone, contro tutti i suoi servi e contro tutto il suo paese;

12 T here has never been another who has shown all the great power and all the great fear which Moses did for all Israel to see.
