1 A s He was teaching and preaching the Good News, the religious leaders and the teachers of the Law and the elders came.

Uno di quei giorni, mentre insegnava al popolo nel tempio ed evangelizzava, sopraggiunsero i capi dei sacerdoti e gli scribi con gli anziani, e gli parlarono così:

2 T hey said to Him, “Tell us, by what right and power are You doing these things? Who gave You the right and the power?”

«Dicci con quale autorità fai queste cose, o chi ti ha dato questa autorità».

3 J esus said to them, “I will ask you one question also. You answer Me.

Ed egli rispose loro: «Anch’io vi farò una domanda. Ditemi:

4 W as the baptism of John from heaven or from men?”

il battesimo di Giovanni veniva dal cielo o dagli uomini?»

5 T hey said to themselves, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’

Ed essi ragionavano così tra di loro: «Se diciamo: “Dal cielo”, egli ci dirà: “Perché non gli credeste?”

6 B ut if we say, ‘From men,’ then all the people will throw stones at us because they believe John was one who spoke for God.”

Ma se diciamo: “Dagli uomini”, tutto il popolo ci lapiderà, perché è persuaso che Giovanni fosse un profeta».

7 T hey said that they did not know where John’s baptism came from.

E risposero di non sapere da dove venisse.

8 J esus said to them, “And I will not tell you where I get the right and the power to do these things.” The Picture-Story of the Grape-Field

Gesù disse loro: «Neppure io vi dico con quale autorità faccio queste cose». Parabola dei vignaiuoli

9 J esus began to tell the people a picture-story, saying, “There was a man who planted a grape-field. He rented it to farmers. Then he went to a country far away for a long time.

Poi cominciò a dire al popolo questa parabola: «Un uomo piantò una vigna, la affittò a dei vignaiuoli e se ne andò in viaggio per molto tempo.

10 A t the time of gathering fruit he sent one of his servants to the farmers to get some of the fruit. But the farmers beat him and sent him away without fruit.

Al tempo della raccolta mandò un servo da quei vignaiuoli perché gli dessero una parte del frutto della vigna; ma i vignaiuoli, dopo averlo percosso, lo rimandarono a mani vuote.

11 H e sent another servant. The farmers beat him also. They made it very hard for him and sent him away without fruit.

Egli mandò un altro servo; ma dopo aver percosso e insultato anche questo, lo rimandarono a mani vuote.

12 H e sent a third servant. They hurt him and threw him out of the grape-field.

Egli ne mandò ancora un terzo; e quelli, dopo aver ferito anche questo, lo scacciarono.

13 “ Then the owner of the grape-field said, ‘What should I do? I will send my much-loved son. They might respect him.’

Allora il padrone della vigna disse: “Che farò? Manderò il mio diletto figlio; forse a lui porteranno rispetto ”.

14 T he farmers saw the son. They said to themselves, ‘This is the one who will get everything when the owner dies. Let us kill him, and we will get everything.’

Ma quando i vignaiuoli lo videro, fecero tra di loro questo ragionamento: “Costui è l’erede; uccidiamolo, affinché l’eredità diventi nostra”.

15 T hey put him out of the grape-field and killed him. Now what will the owner of the grape-field do to them?

E lo cacciarono fuori dalla vigna e lo uccisero. Dunque che cosa farà loro il padrone della vigna?

16 H e will come and kill those farmers. Then he will rent the grape-field to other farmers.” When they heard this, they said, “May this never be done!”

Verrà e sterminerà quei vignaiuoli, e darà la vigna ad altri». Essi, udito ciò, dissero: «Non sia mai!»

17 J esus looked at them and said, “What does this writing mean, ‘The Stone that was put aside by the workmen has become the most important Stone in the building’?

Ma egli li guardò in faccia e disse: «Che significa dunque ciò che sta scritto: “La pietra che i costruttori hanno rifiutata è quella che è diventata pietra angolare ” ?

18 W hoever falls on this Stone will be broken. And on the one it falls, it will make him like dust.” They Try to Trap Jesus

Chiunque cadrà su quella pietra si sfracellerà, ed essa stritolerà colui sul quale cadrà».

19 A t this time the religious leaders and the teachers of the Law tried to take Jesus, but they were afraid of the people. These leaders knew Jesus had told this picture-story against them.

In quella stessa ora gli scribi e i capi dei sacerdoti cercarono di mettergli le mani addosso, ma temettero il popolo; perché capirono che egli aveva detto quella parabola per loro. Il tributo a Cesare

20 T hey watched Jesus and they sent men who pretended to be good people to watch Him. They wanted to trap Him in something He said. Then they could give Him over to the leader of the people who had the right and the power to say what to do with Him.

Si misero a osservare Gesù e gli mandarono delle spie che fingessero di essere giusti per coglierlo in fallo su una sua parola e consegnarlo, così, all’autorità e al potere del governatore.

21 T hese men who were sent asked Jesus, “Teacher, we know what You say and teach is right. We know You do not show more respect to one person than to another. We know You teach the truth about God.

Costoro gli fecero una domanda: «Maestro, noi sappiamo che tu parli e insegni rettamente, e non hai riguardi personali, ma insegni la via di Dio secondo verità.

22 I s it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

Ci è lecito, o no, pagare il tributo a Cesare?»

23 J esus knew they were trying to trap Him. He said,

Ma egli, accortosi del loro tranello, disse loro:

24 “ Show Me a piece of money. Whose picture is this? Whose name is on it?” And they said, “Caesar’s.”

«Mostratemi un denaro. Di chi porta l’effigie e l’iscrizione?» Ed essi dissero: «Di Cesare».

25 J esus said to them, “Pay to Caesar the things that belong to Caesar. Pay to God the things that belong to God.”

Ed egli a loro: «Rendete dunque a Cesare quello che è di Cesare, e a Dio quello che è di Dio».

26 T hey could find nothing wrong with what He taught. They were surprised and wondered about what He told the people, so they said nothing more. They Ask about Being Raised from the Dead

Essi non poterono coglierlo in fallo davanti al popolo; e, meravigliati della sua risposta, tacquero. Dibattito sulla risurrezione

27 S ome people from the religious group who believe no one will be raised from the dead came to Jesus. They asked Him,

Poi si avvicinarono alcuni sadducei, i quali negano che ci sia risurrezione, e lo interrogarono, dicendo:

28 “ Teacher, Moses wrote to us in the Law, ‘If a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, then his brother must marry her. He should have children for his brother who died.’

«Maestro, Mosè ci ha prescritto: “Se il fratello di uno muore, avendo moglie ma senza figli, il fratello di lui ne prenda la moglie e dia una discendenza a suo fratello ”.

29 T here were seven brothers. The first had a wife but died without children.

C’erano dunque sette fratelli. Il primo prese moglie e morì senza figli.

30 T he second brother took her for his wife. He died without children.

Il secondo pure la sposò,

31 T he third brother took her for his wife. In the same way all seven took her for a wife. They all died without children.

poi il terzo; e così, fino al settimo, morirono senza lasciare figli.

32 T hen the woman died also.

Infine morì anche la donna.

33 W hen people are raised from the dead, whose wife will she be? All seven brothers had her for a wife.”

Nella risurrezione, dunque, di chi sarà moglie quella donna ? Perché tutti e sette l’hanno avuta per moglie».

34 J esus said to them, “People of this earth marry and are given in marriage.

Gesù disse loro: «I figli di questo mondo sposano e sono sposati,

35 B ut those who have the right to have that life and are raised from the dead do not marry and are not given in marriage.

ma quelli che saranno ritenuti degni di aver parte al mondo avvenire e alla risurrezione dai morti non prendono né danno moglie;

36 T hey cannot die anymore. They are as the angels and are sons of God. They are children who have been raised from the dead.

neanche possono più morire perché sono simili agli angeli e sono figli di Dio, essendo figli della risurrezione.

37 A s for the dead being raised, even Moses spoke of that when he told of the burning bush. There he calls the Lord, the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.

Che poi i morti risuscitino, lo dichiarò anche Mosè nel passo del pruno, quando chiama il Signore, Dio di Abraamo, Dio di Isacco e Dio di Giacobbe.

38 F or He is not the God of the dead. He is the God of the living. All live for Him.”

Ora, egli non è Dio di morti, ma di vivi; perché per lui tutti vivono».

39 O ne of the teachers of the Law said, “Teacher, You have spoken well.”

Alcuni scribi, rispondendo, dissero: «Maestro, hai detto bene».

40 A fter that they were afraid to ask Him anything. Jesus Asks the Teachers of the Law about the Christ

E non osavano più fargli alcuna domanda. Gesù e gli scribi

41 J esus said to them, “How do they say that Christ is the Son of David?

Ed egli disse loro: «Come mai si dice che il Cristo è Figlio di Davide?

42 F or David himself said in the Book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to My Lord, “Sit at my right side

Poiché Davide stesso, nel libro dei Salmi, dice: “Il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: ‘Siedi alla mia destra,

43 u ntil I make those who hate You a place to rest Your feet.”’

finché io abbia posto i tuoi nemici come sgabello dei tuoi piedi’”.

44 D avid calls Him, ‘Lord!’ Then how can He be his son?” False Teachers

Davide dunque lo chiama Signore; come può essere suo figlio?»

45 A ll the people were listening. He said to His followers,

Mentre tutto il popolo lo ascoltava, egli disse ai {suoi} discepoli:

46 “ Look out for the teachers of the Law. They like to walk around in long coats. They like to have people speak words of respect to them in the center of town where people gather. They like the important seats in the places of worship. They like the important places at big suppers.

«Guardatevi dagli scribi, a cui piace passeggiare in lunghe vesti, e che amano i saluti nelle piazze, i primi seggi nelle sinagoghe e i primi posti nei conviti;

47 T hey take houses from poor women whose husbands have died. They cover up their actions by making long prayers. They will be punished all the more.”

essi divorano le case delle vedove e fanno lunghe preghiere per mettersi in mostra. Costoro riceveranno una condanna maggiore».
