1 A s He was teaching and preaching the Good News, the religious leaders and the teachers of the Law and the elders came.

Sucedió un día que, enseñando Jesús al pueblo en el Templo y anunciando el evangelio, llegaron los principales sacerdotes y los escribas, con los ancianos,

2 T hey said to Him, “Tell us, by what right and power are You doing these things? Who gave You the right and the power?”

y le hablaron diciendo: —Dinos ¿con qué autoridad haces estas cosas? ¿o quién es el que te ha dado esta autoridad?

3 J esus said to them, “I will ask you one question also. You answer Me.

Respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: —Os haré yo también una pregunta. Respondedme:

4 W as the baptism of John from heaven or from men?”

El bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo, o de los hombres?

5 T hey said to themselves, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’

Entonces ellos discutían entre sí, diciendo: —Si decimos “del cielo”, dirá: “¿Por qué, pues, no le creísteis?”

6 B ut if we say, ‘From men,’ then all the people will throw stones at us because they believe John was one who spoke for God.”

Y si decimos “de los hombres”, todo el pueblo nos apedreará, porque están persuadidos de que Juan era profeta.

7 T hey said that they did not know where John’s baptism came from.

Respondieron que no sabían de dónde era.

8 J esus said to them, “And I will not tell you where I get the right and the power to do these things.” The Picture-Story of the Grape-Field

Entonces Jesús les dijo: —Yo tampoco os diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas. Los labradores malvados

9 J esus began to tell the people a picture-story, saying, “There was a man who planted a grape-field. He rented it to farmers. Then he went to a country far away for a long time.

Comenzó luego a decir al pueblo esta parábola: «Un hombre plantó una viña, la arrendó a labradores y se ausentó por mucho tiempo.

10 A t the time of gathering fruit he sent one of his servants to the farmers to get some of the fruit. But the farmers beat him and sent him away without fruit.

A su tiempo envió un siervo a los labradores para que le dieran del fruto de la viña, pero los labradores lo golpearon y lo enviaron con las manos vacías.

11 H e sent another servant. The farmers beat him also. They made it very hard for him and sent him away without fruit.

Volvió a enviar otro siervo; pero ellos a éste también golpearon, insultaron y enviaron con las manos vacías.

12 H e sent a third servant. They hurt him and threw him out of the grape-field.

Volvió a enviar un tercer siervo; pero ellos también a éste echaron fuera, herido.

13 “ Then the owner of the grape-field said, ‘What should I do? I will send my much-loved son. They might respect him.’

»Entonces el señor de la viña dijo: “¿Qué haré? Enviaré a mi hijo amado; quizás, cuando lo vean a él, le tendrán respeto.”

14 T he farmers saw the son. They said to themselves, ‘This is the one who will get everything when the owner dies. Let us kill him, and we will get everything.’

Pero los labradores, al verlo, discutían entre sí, diciendo: “Éste es el heredero; venid, matémoslo para que la heredad sea nuestra.”

15 T hey put him out of the grape-field and killed him. Now what will the owner of the grape-field do to them?

Lo echaron fuera de la viña y lo mataron. ¿Qué, pues, les hará el señor de la viña?

16 H e will come and kill those farmers. Then he will rent the grape-field to other farmers.” When they heard this, they said, “May this never be done!”

Irá, destruirá a estos labradores y dará su viña a otros.» Cuando ellos oyeron esto, dijeron: —¡Dios nos libre!

17 J esus looked at them and said, “What does this writing mean, ‘The Stone that was put aside by the workmen has become the most important Stone in the building’?

Pero él, mirándolos, dijo: —¿Qué, pues, es lo que está escrito?: »“La piedra que desecharon los edificadores ha venido a ser cabeza del ángulo.”

18 W hoever falls on this Stone will be broken. And on the one it falls, it will make him like dust.” They Try to Trap Jesus

»Todo el que caiga sobre aquella piedra, será quebrantado; pero sobre quien ella caiga, lo desmenuzará. La cuestión del tributo

19 A t this time the religious leaders and the teachers of the Law tried to take Jesus, but they were afraid of the people. These leaders knew Jesus had told this picture-story against them.

En aquella hora, los principales sacerdotes y los escribas procuraban echarle mano, porque comprendieron que contra ellos había dicho esta parábola; pero temían al pueblo.

20 T hey watched Jesus and they sent men who pretended to be good people to watch Him. They wanted to trap Him in something He said. Then they could give Him over to the leader of the people who had the right and the power to say what to do with Him.

Y, acechándolo, enviaron espías que simularan ser justos, a fin de sorprenderlo en alguna palabra, para entregarlo al poder y autoridad del gobernador.

21 T hese men who were sent asked Jesus, “Teacher, we know what You say and teach is right. We know You do not show more respect to one person than to another. We know You teach the truth about God.

Le preguntaron, diciendo: —Maestro, sabemos que dices y enseñas rectamente, y que no haces acepción de persona, sino que enseñas el camino de Dios con verdad.

22 I s it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

¿Nos es lícito dar tributo a César, o no?

23 J esus knew they were trying to trap Him. He said,

Pero él, comprendiendo la astucia de ellos, les dijo: —¿Por qué me tentáis?

24 “ Show Me a piece of money. Whose picture is this? Whose name is on it?” And they said, “Caesar’s.”

Mostradme la moneda. ¿De quién es la imagen y la inscripción? Respondiendo dijeron: —De César.

25 J esus said to them, “Pay to Caesar the things that belong to Caesar. Pay to God the things that belong to God.”

Entonces les dijo: —Pues dad a César lo que es de César y a Dios lo que es de Dios.

26 T hey could find nothing wrong with what He taught. They were surprised and wondered about what He told the people, so they said nothing more. They Ask about Being Raised from the Dead

Y no pudieron sorprenderlo en palabra alguna delante del pueblo, sino que, maravillados de su respuesta, callaron. La pregunta sobre la resurrección

27 S ome people from the religious group who believe no one will be raised from the dead came to Jesus. They asked Him,

Se acercaron entonces algunos de los saduceos, los cuales niegan que haya resurrección, y le preguntaron,

28 “ Teacher, Moses wrote to us in the Law, ‘If a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, then his brother must marry her. He should have children for his brother who died.’

diciendo: —Maestro, Moisés nos escribió: “Si el hermano de alguno muere teniendo mujer y no deja hijos, que su hermano se case con ella y levante descendencia a su hermano.”

29 T here were seven brothers. The first had a wife but died without children.

Hubo, pues, siete hermanos: el primero tomó esposa y murió sin hijos.

30 T he second brother took her for his wife. He died without children.

Y la tomó el segundo, el cual también murió sin hijos.

31 T he third brother took her for his wife. In the same way all seven took her for a wife. They all died without children.

La tomó el tercero, y así todos los siete, y murieron sin dejar descendencia.

32 T hen the woman died also.

Finalmente murió también la mujer.

33 W hen people are raised from the dead, whose wife will she be? All seven brothers had her for a wife.”

En la resurrección, pues, ¿de cuál de ellos será mujer, ya que los siete la tuvieron por mujer?

34 J esus said to them, “People of this earth marry and are given in marriage.

Entonces respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: —Los hijos de este siglo se casan y se dan en casamiento,

35 B ut those who have the right to have that life and are raised from the dead do not marry and are not given in marriage.

pero los que son tenidos por dignos de alcanzar aquel siglo y la resurrección de entre los muertos, ni se casan ni se dan en casamiento,

36 T hey cannot die anymore. They are as the angels and are sons of God. They are children who have been raised from the dead.

porque ya no pueden morir, pues son iguales a los ángeles, y son hijos de Dios al ser hijos de la resurrección.

37 A s for the dead being raised, even Moses spoke of that when he told of the burning bush. There he calls the Lord, the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.

Pero en cuanto a que los muertos han de resucitar, aun Moisés lo enseñó en el pasaje de la zarza, cuando llama al Señor, Dios de Abraham, Dios de Isaac y Dios de Jacob,

38 F or He is not the God of the dead. He is the God of the living. All live for Him.”

porque Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos, pues para él todos viven.

39 O ne of the teachers of the Law said, “Teacher, You have spoken well.”

Respondiéndole algunos de los escribas, dijeron: —Maestro, bien has dicho.

40 A fter that they were afraid to ask Him anything. Jesus Asks the Teachers of the Law about the Christ

Y no osaron preguntarle nada más. ¿De quién es hijo el Cristo?

41 J esus said to them, “How do they say that Christ is the Son of David?

Entonces él les dijo: —¿Cómo dicen que el Cristo es hijo de David?,

42 F or David himself said in the Book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to My Lord, “Sit at my right side

pues el mismo David dice en el libro de los Salmos: »“Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: ‘Siéntate a mi diestra,

43 u ntil I make those who hate You a place to rest Your feet.”’

hasta que ponga a tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies.’”

44 D avid calls Him, ‘Lord!’ Then how can He be his son?” False Teachers

»David, pues, lo llama Señor; ¿cómo entonces es su hijo? Jesús acusa a los escribas

45 A ll the people were listening. He said to His followers,

Oyéndolo todo el pueblo, dijo a sus discípulos:

46 “ Look out for the teachers of the Law. They like to walk around in long coats. They like to have people speak words of respect to them in the center of town where people gather. They like the important seats in the places of worship. They like the important places at big suppers.

—Guardaos de los escribas, que gustan de andar con ropas largas, aman las salutaciones en las plazas, las primeras sillas en las sinagogas y los primeros asientos en las cenas;

47 T hey take houses from poor women whose husbands have died. They cover up their actions by making long prayers. They will be punished all the more.”

que devoran las casas de las viudas y, por pretexto, hacen largas oraciones. Estos recibirán mayor condenación.
