1 T he Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

Habló Jehová a Moisés y a Aarón, y les dijo:

2 “ Say to the people of Israel, ‘These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals on the earth.

«Hablad a los hijos de Israel y decidles: “Éstos son los animales que comeréis de entre todos los animales que hay sobre la tierra.

3 Y ou may eat any animal that has hard and divided feet and chews its food again.

De entre los animales, comeréis todo el que tiene pezuña hendida y que rumia.

4 B ut among those which chew their food again or have feet that are hard and divided, do not eat the camel. For it chews its food again, but does not have feet that are hard and divided. It is unclean to you.

Pero de los que rumian o que tienen pezuña, no comeréis: El camello, porque rumia pero no tiene pezuña hendida, lo tendréis por inmundo.

5 D o not eat the rock badger. For it chews its food again, but does not have feet that are hard and divided. It is unclean to you.

También el conejo, porque rumia pero no tiene pezuña, lo tendréis por inmundo.

6 D o not eat the rabbit. For it chews its food again, but does not have feet that are hard and divided. It is unclean to you.

Asimismo la liebre, porque rumia pero no tiene pezuña, la tendréis por inmunda.

7 A nd do not eat the pig. For it has feet that are hard and divided, but it does not chew its food again. It is unclean to you.

También el cerdo, porque tiene pezuñas, y es de pezuñas hendidas pero no rumia, lo tendréis por inmundo.

8 D o not eat their flesh or touch their dead bodies. They are unclean to you.

De su carne no comeréis, ni tocaréis su cuerpo muerto: los tendréis por inmundos.

9 ‘ These you may eat, of all that are in the water. You may eat everything in the water that has fins and scales, in the seas or in the rivers.

»”De todos los animales que viven en las aguas comeréis estos: todos los que tienen aletas y escamas, ya sean de mar o de río, los podréis comer.

10 B ut whatever is in the seas and rivers that does not have fins and scales, among all the living things moving in the water, are to be hated by you.

Pero tendréis como cosa abominable todos los que no tienen aletas ni escamas, ya sean de mar o de río, entre todo lo que se mueve y entre toda cosa viviente que está en las aguas.

11 Y ou will hate them. You may not eat their meat, and you will hate their dead bodies.

Os serán, pues, abominación: de su carne no comeréis, y abominaréis sus cuerpos muertos.

12 W hatever in the water does not have fins and scales will be hated by you.

Tendréis por abominable todo lo que en las aguas no tiene aletas y escamas.

13 ‘ These you will hate among the birds. They are hated and not to be eaten: the eagle, the vulture, the buzzard,

»”Entre las aves tendréis por abominables, y no se comerán por ser abominación, las siguientes: el águila, el quebrantahuesos, el azor,

14 t he kite, every kind of falcon,

el gallinazo, el milano según su especie;

15 e very kind of raven,

toda clase de cuervos;

16 t he ostrich, the owl, the sea gull, every kind of hawk,

el avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota, el gavilán según su especie;

17 t he little owl, the cormorant, the big owl,

el búho, el somormujo, el ibis,

18 t he white owl, the pelican, the vulture that eats dead flesh,

el calamón, el pelícano, el buitre,

19 t he stork, every kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.

la cigüeña, la garza según su especie, la abubilla y el murciélago.

20 ‘ All bugs with wings and that walk on all fours are to be hated by you.

»”Tendréis por abominable todo insecto alado que anda sobre cuatro patas.

21 B ut you may eat, among all the bugs with wings and that walk on all fours, those which have legs above their feet that allow them to jump on the ground.

Pero de todo insecto alado que anda sobre cuatro patas comeréis el que, además de sus patas, tiene zancas para saltar con ellas sobre la tierra.

22 Y ou may eat every kind of locust, every kind of destroying locust, every kind of cricket, and every kind of grasshopper.

De ellos comeréis estos: toda clase de langosta, de langostín, de grillo y saltamontes.

23 B ut you are to hate all other bugs with wings and four feet.

Cualquier otro insecto alado que tenga cuatro patas, os será abominación.

24 ‘ If you touch these you will be unclean. Whoever touches their dead bodies will be unclean until evening.

»”Por estas cosas quedaréis impuros: »”Cualquiera que toque los cuerpos muertos de estos animales, quedará impuro hasta la noche.

25 A nd whoever picks up any of their dead bodies will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.

»”Cualquiera que levante el cadáver de alguno de ellos, lavará sus vestidos, y quedará impuro hasta la noche.

26 E very animal that has a parted foot but not a divided foot, or that does not eat its food again, is unclean to you. Whoever touches them will be unclean.

»”Tendréis por inmundo todo animal de pezuña, pero que no tiene pezuña hendida ni rumia; cualquiera que los toque quedará impuro.

27 W hatever walks on its soft feet, among all the animals that walk on all fours, are unclean to you. Whoever touches their dead bodies will be unclean until evening.

»”De todos los animales que andan en cuatro patas, tendréis por inmundo a cualquiera que se apoye sobre sus garras; todo el que toque sus cadáveres quedará impuro hasta la noche.

28 A nd he who picks up their dead bodies will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. They are unclean to you.

Y el que levante sus cadáveres lavará sus vestidos y quedará impuro hasta la noche: los tendréis por inmundos.

29 ‘ These animals that move on the earth are unclean to you: the mole, the mouse, every kind of big lizard,

»”Y tendréis por inmundos a los siguientes animales que se mueven sobre la tierra: la comadreja, el ratón, las distintas especies de rana,

30 t he gecko, the crocodile, the lizard, the sand lizard, and the chameleon.

el erizo, el cocodrilo, el lagarto, la lagartija y el camaleón.

31 T hese animals that move on the earth are unclean to you. Whoever touches their dead bodies will be unclean until evening.

»”Estos tendréis por inmundos de entre los animales que se mueven, y cualquiera que los toque cuando estén muertos quedará impuro hasta la noche.

32 A nd anything on which one of them may fall when they are dead will be unclean. Each piece of wood or clothing or skin or bag or anything used as you work, must be put in water. It will be unclean until evening. Then it will be clean.

»”También será inmundo todo aquello sobre lo que caiga algo de ellos después de muertos; sea objeto de madera, vestido, piel, saco, sea cualquier instrumento con el que se trabaja. Será metido en agua y quedará inmundo hasta la noche: entonces quedará limpio.

33 I f any falls into a clay pot, whatever is in the pot will be unclean. You should break the pot.

»”Toda vasija de barro dentro de la cual caiga alguno de ellos será inmunda, así como todo lo que esté dentro de ella; y la vasija deberá quebrarse.

34 A ny food that could be eaten but has water from such a pot on it will be unclean. And anything which could be drunk from any such pot will be unclean.

Toda cosa comestible sobre la cual caiga el agua de tales vasijas será inmunda, y toda bebida que haya en esas vasijas será inmunda.

35 E verything on which part of their dead body may fall will be unclean. A stove or a place for pots must be broken. They are unclean to you.

Todo aquello sobre lo que caiga alguno de esos cadáveres será inmundo: el horno u hornillos se derribarán; son inmundos, y por inmundos los tendréis.

36 B ut a well or a place holding water will be clean. But whoever touches a dead body will be unclean.

»”Sin embargo, la fuente y la cisterna donde se recogen las aguas permanecerán limpias, pero lo que haya tocado los cadáveres será inmundo.

37 I f a part of their dead body falls on any seed which is to be planted, it is clean.

»”Y si cae uno de esos cadáveres sobre alguna semilla que se haya de sembrar, será limpia.

38 B ut if water is put on the seed, and a body falls on it, it is unclean to you.

Pero si se ha puesto agua en la semilla, y cae uno de los cadáveres sobre ella, la tendréis por inmunda.

39 ‘ If one of the animals dies which you have for food, the one who touches its dead body will be unclean until evening.

»”Si muere algún animal que tienes para comer, el que toque su cadáver quedará impuro hasta la noche.

40 H e who eats some of the dead body will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. And he who picks up its dead body will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.

El que coma del cuerpo muerto lavará sus vestidos y quedará impuro hasta la noche; también el que saque el cuerpo muerto lavará sus vestidos y quedará impuro hasta la noche.

41 ‘ Anything that moves around on the ground in large numbers is hated and is not to be eaten.

»”Todo reptil que se arrastra sobre la tierra es abominación: no se comerá.

42 Y ou should not eat whatever moves on its stomach, or goes on four feet, or has many feet, among all the things that move around on the ground in large numbers. For they are hated.

»”No comeréis ningún animal que anda sobre el vientre, que anda sobre cuatro o más patas, o se arrastra sobre la tierra, porque es abominación.

43 D o not make yourselves unclean by any of the small living things that move together on the ground, so you become unclean.

No hagáis abominables vuestras personas con ningún animal que se arrastra, ni os contaminéis con ellos, ni seáis impuros por ellos.

44 F or I am the Lord your God. So set yourselves apart, and be holy. For I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean with any of the small living things that move together in large numbers on the ground.

Yo soy Jehová, vuestro Dios. Vosotros por tanto os santificaréis y seréis santos, porque yo soy santo. Así que no contaminéis vuestras personas con ningún animal que se arrastre sobre la tierra.

45 F or I am the Lord Who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. So be holy, because I am holy.’”

Yo soy Jehová, que os hago subir de la tierra de Egipto para ser vuestro Dios: seréis, pues, santos, porque yo soy santo.”

46 T his is the Law of the animal, the bird, every living thing that moves in the water, and everything that moves on the ground.

ȃsta es la ley acerca de las bestias, de las aves, de todo ser viviente que se mueve en las aguas y de todo animal que se arrastra sobre la tierra,

47 I t is so you know the difference between those that are clean and those that are unclean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten.

para que hagáis distinción entre lo inmundo y lo limpio, y entre los animales que se pueden comer y los animales que no se pueden comer.»
