1 “ At that time,” says the Lord, “they will bring out the bones of the kings and leaders of Judah, the bones of the religious leaders, the bones of the men of God, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem from their graves.

«En aquel tiempo, dice Jehová, sacarán de sus sepulcros los huesos de los reyes de Judá, los huesos de sus príncipes, los huesos de los sacerdotes, los huesos de los profetas y los huesos de los habitantes de Jerusalén.

2 A nd they will spread them out to the sun, the moon, and to all the stars of heaven. For these they have loved, and served, and followed, and looked for, and worshiped. The bones will not be gathered or buried. They will be as animal waste on top of the ground.

Los esparcirán al sol y a la luna y a todo el ejército del cielo, a los cuales amaron y sirvieron, en pos de los cuales anduvieron, a los cuales consultaron y ante los cuales se postraron. No serán recogidos ni enterrados; serán como estiércol sobre la faz de la tierra.

3 A nd death will be chosen instead of life by all those who are left of this sinful family in all the places where I have driven them,” says the Lord of All. Sin and Its Punishment

Y escogerá la muerte antes que la vida todo el resto que quede de esta mala generación, en todos los lugares adonde arroje yo a los que queden, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

4 “ You will say to them, ‘This is what the Lord says: “Do men fall and not get up again? Does one turn away and not return?

»Les dirás asimismo que así ha dicho Jehová: »El que cae, ¿no se levanta? El que se desvía, ¿no vuelve al camino?

5 W hy then have the people of Jerusalem always turned away from Me? They hold on to what is false, and will not return.

¿Por qué es este pueblo de Jerusalén rebelde con rebeldía sin fin? Abrazaron el engaño y no han querido volverse.

6 I have listened and heard, but they have not said what is right. No man turned from his sinful way, saying, ‘What have I done?’ Every one turns to his own way like a horse running into battle.

Escuché con atención: no hablan rectamente, no hay hombre que se arrepienta de su mal, diciendo: “¿Qué he hecho?” Cada cual se volvió a su propia carrera, como caballo que se lanza con ímpetu a la batalla.

7 E ven the stork in the sky knows her times. And the turtle-dove, crane, and swallow keep the time of their coming. But My people do not know the Law of the Lord.

Aun la cigüeña en el cielo conoce su tiempo, y la tórtola, la grulla y la golondrina guardan el tiempo de su venida; pero mi pueblo no conoce el juicio de Jehová.

8 “ How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the Law of the Lord is with us’? See, the lying hand of the writers has made it into a lie.

»¿Cómo decís: “Nosotros somos sabios, y la ley de Jehová está con nosotros”? Ciertamente la ha cambiado en mentira la pluma mentirosa de los escribas.

9 T he wise men are put to shame. They are troubled and taken. See, they have turned away from the Word of the Lord, and what kind of wisdom do they have?

Los sabios se avergonzaron, se espantaron y fueron consternados; aborrecieron la palabra de Jehová; ¿dónde, pues, está su sabiduría?

10 S o I will give their wives to others, and their fields to new owners. Because from the least to the greatest, every one is always wanting much. From the man of God to the religious leader, no one can be trusted in what he does.

Por tanto, daré a otros sus mujeres, y sus campos a quienes los conquisten; porque desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande, cada uno sigue la avaricia; desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote todos practican el engaño.

11 T hey have healed the hurt of My people very little, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.

Y curan la herida de la hija de mi pueblo con liviandad, diciendo: “Paz, paz”, ¡y no hay paz!

12 W ere they ashamed because of the hated sin they had done? They were not ashamed at all. They did not even know how to turn red. So they will fall among those who fall. When I punish them, they will be put down,” says the Lord.

¿Se han avergonzado de haber hecho abominación? Ciertamente no se han avergonzado en lo más mínimo, ¡ni saben lo que es la vergüenza! Caerán, por tanto, entre los que caigan; cuando los castigue caerán, dice Jehová.»

13 “ For sure I will take them away,” says the Lord. “There will be no grapes on the vine, and no figs on the fig tree, and the leaves will dry up. What I have given them will pass away.”

«Los eliminaré del todo, dice Jehová. No quedarán uvas en la vid ni higos en la higuera, y se caerá la hoja, y lo que les he dado pasará de ellos.»

14 W hy are we sitting here? Gather together, and let us go into the strong cities and die there. For the Lord our God has given us up to die. He has given us poison in our water to drink, for we have sinned against Him.

¿Por qué permanecemos sentados? ¡Reuníos! ¡Entremos en las ciudades fortificadas y perezcamos allí! Porque Jehová, nuestro Dios, nos ha destinado a perecer, y nos ha dado a beber aguas envenenadas, porque hemos pecado contra Jehová.

15 W e waited for peace, but no good came. We waited for a time of healing, but see, there is much trouble.

Esperamos paz, y no hubo nada bueno; día de curación, y hubo turbación.

16 T he noise of his horses is heard from Dan. The whole land shakes at the sound of his war horses. For they come and destroy the land and everything that is in it, the city and those who live in it.

Desde Dan se oyó el resoplar de sus caballos; al sonido de los relinchos de sus corceles tembló toda la tierra. Vinieron y devoraron la tierra y todo lo que en ella había, la ciudad y a los que moraban en ella.

17 “ For see, I am sending the worst of snakes against you, poison snakes which cannot be stopped. And they will bite you,” says the Lord.

«Yo envío sobre vosotros serpientes, víboras contra las cuales no hay encantamiento, y os morderán, dice Jehová.» Lamento sobre Judá y Jerusalén

18 M y sorrow is too much to heal. My heart is weak within me.

A causa de mi intenso dolor, mi corazón desfallece.

19 L isten! It is the cry of my people from a far away land: “Is the Lord not in Zion? Is her King not in her?” “Why have they made Me angry with their objects of worship, and with strange gods?”

Se oye la voz del clamor de la hija de mi pueblo, que viene de la tierra lejana: «¿No está Jehová en Sión? ¿No está en ella su Rey?» «¿Por qué me hicieron airar con sus imágenes de talla, con vanidades ajenas?»

20 “ Gathering time is past, summer is ended, and we are not saved.”

¡Pasó la siega, se acabó el verano, pero nosotros no hemos sido salvos!

21 I am hurt because my people are hurt. I am filled with sorrow, and fear has taken hold of me.

¡Quebrantado estoy por el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo; abrumado estoy, el espanto se ha apoderado de mí!

22 I s there no healing oil in Gilead? Is there no doctor there? Why then have my people not been healed?

¿No hay bálsamo en Galaad? ¿No hay allí médico? ¿Por qué, pues, no hubo sanidad para la hija de mi pueblo?
