1 T hen God spoke all these words, saying,

Habló Dios todas estas palabras:

2 “ I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house where you were servants.

«Yo soy Jehová, tu Dios, que te saqué de la tierra de Egipto, de casa de servidumbre.

3 “ Have no gods other than Me.

»No tendrás dioses ajenos delante de mí.

4 “ Do not make for yourselves a god to look like anything that is in heaven above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth.

»No te harás imagen ni ninguna semejanza de lo que esté arriba en el cielo, ni abajo en la tierra, ni en las aguas debajo de la tierra.

5 “ Do not worship them or work for them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God. I punish the children, even the great-grandchildren, for the sins of their fathers who hate Me.

No te inclinarás a ellas ni las honrarás, porque yo soy Jehová, tu Dios, fuerte, celoso, que visito la maldad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación de los que me aborrecen,

6 B ut I show loving-kindness to thousands of those who love Me and keep My Laws.

y hago misericordia por millares a los que me aman y guardan mis mandamientos.

7 “ Do not use the name of the Lord your God in a false way. For the Lord will punish the one who uses His name in a false way.

»No tomarás el nombre de Jehová, tu Dios, en vano, porque no dará por inocente Jehová al que tome su nombre en vano.

8 “ Remember the Day of Rest, to keep it holy.

»Acuérdate del sábado para santificarlo.

9 S ix days you will do all your work.

Seis días trabajarás y harás toda tu obra,

10 B ut the seventh day is a Day of Rest to the Lord your God. You, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, your cattle, or the traveler who stays with you, must not do any work on this day.

pero el séptimo día es de reposo para Jehová, tu Dios; no hagas en él obra alguna, tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu siervo, ni tu criada, ni tu bestia, ni el extranjero que está dentro de tus puertas,

11 F or in six days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea and all that is in them. And He rested on the seventh day. So the Lord gave honor to the Day of Rest and made it holy.

porque en seis días hizo Jehová los cielos y la tierra, el mar, y todas las cosas que en ellos hay, y reposó en el séptimo día; por tanto, Jehová bendijo el sábado y lo santificó.

12 “ Honor your father and your mother, so your life may be long in the land the Lord your God gives you.

»Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, para que tus días se alarguen en la tierra que Jehová, tu Dios, te da.

13 “ Do not kill other people.

»No matarás.

14 “ Do not do sex sins.

»No cometerás adulterio.

15 “ Do not steal.

»No hurtarás.

16 “ Do not tell a lie about your neighbor.

»No dirás contra tu prójimo falso testimonio.

17 “ Do not have a desire for your neighbor’s house. Do not have a desire for his wife or his male servant, his female servant, or his bull or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

»No codiciarás la casa de tu prójimo: no codiciarás la mujer de tu prójimo, ni su siervo, ni su criada, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni cosa alguna de tu prójimo.» El terror del pueblo

18 A ll the people heard and saw the thunder and lightning, the sound of the horn, and the mountain smoking. And when the people saw it, they shook with fear and stood far away.

Todo el pueblo observaba el estruendo, los relámpagos, el sonido de la bocina y el monte que humeaba. Al ver esto, el pueblo tuvo miedo y se mantuvo alejado.

19 T hey said to Moses, “You speak to us and we will listen. But do not let God speak to us or we will die.”

Entonces dijeron a Moisés: —Habla tú con nosotros, y nosotros oiremos; pero no hable Dios con nosotros, para que no muramos.

20 M oses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so you may have enough fear of Him to keep you from sinning.”

Moisés respondió al pueblo: —No temáis, pues Dios vino para probaros, para que su temor esté ante vosotros y no pequéis.

21 T he people stood far away, while Moses came near to the cloud where God was.

Y mientras el pueblo se mantenía alejado, Moisés se acercó a la oscuridad en la cual estaba Dios.

22 T hen the Lord said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘You have seen for yourselves that I have spoken to you from heaven.

Jehová dijo a Moisés: «Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: “Vosotros habéis visto que os he hablado desde el cielo.

23 D o not make any gods other than Me. Do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.

No os hagáis dioses de plata ni dioses de oro para ponerlos junto a mí.

24 M ake an altar of earth for Me, and on it give your burnt and peace gifts in worship, your sheep and cattle. In every place where My name is to be remembered, I will come to you and bring good to you.

Me harás un altar de tierra, y sacrificarás sobre él tus holocaustos y tus ofrendas de paz, tus ovejas y tus vacas. En todo lugar donde yo haga que se recuerde mi nombre, vendré a ti y te bendeciré.

25 I f you make an altar of stone for Me, do not build it of cut stones. For if you use an object to cut it, it will be unclean.

Y si me haces un altar de piedras, no las labres de cantería, porque si alzas tus herramientas sobre él, lo profanarás.

26 A nd do not go up on steps to My altar, so no part of your body may be seen without being covered.’

Tampoco subirás por gradas a mi altar, para que tu desnudez no se descubra junto a él.”
