1 N ow Moses was taking care of the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the religious leader of Midian. He led the flock to the west side of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Apacentando Moisés las ovejas de su suegro Jetro, sacerdote de Madián, llevó las ovejas a través del desierto y llegó hasta Horeb, monte de Dios.

2 T here the Angel of the Lord showed Himself to Moses in a burning fire from inside a bush. Moses looked and saw that the bush was burning with fire, but it was not being burned up.

Allí se le apareció el Ángel de Jehová en una llama de fuego, en medio de una zarza. Al fijarse, vio que la zarza ardía en fuego, pero la zarza no se consumía.

3 S o Moses said, “I must step aside and see this great thing, why the bush is not being burned up.”

Entonces Moisés se dijo: «Iré ahora para contemplar esta gran visión, por qué causa la zarza no se quema.»

4 T he Lord saw him step aside to look. And God called to him from inside the bush, saying, “Moses, Moses!” Moses answered, “Here I am.”

Cuando Jehová vio que él iba a mirar, lo llamó de en medio de la zarza: —¡Moisés, Moisés! —Aquí estoy —respondió él.

5 G od said, “Do not come near. Take your shoes off your feet. For the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

Dios le dijo: —No te acerques; quita el calzado de tus pies, porque el lugar en que tú estás, tierra santa es.

6 H e said also, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face. For he was afraid to look at God.

Y añadió: —Yo soy el Dios de tu padre, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob. Entonces Moisés cubrió su rostro, porque tuvo miedo de mirar a Dios.

7 T he Lord said, “I have seen the suffering of My people in Egypt. I have heard their cry because of the men who make them work. I know how they suffer.

Dijo luego Jehová: —Bien he visto la aflicción de mi pueblo que está en Egipto, y he oído su clamor a causa de sus opresores, pues he conocido sus angustias.

8 S o I have come down to save them from the power of the Egyptians. I will bring them out of that land to a good big land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite.

Por eso he descendido para librarlos de manos de los egipcios y sacarlos de aquella tierra a una tierra buena y ancha, a una tierra que fluye leche y miel, a los lugares del cananeo, del heteo, del amorreo, del ferezeo, del heveo y del jebuseo.

9 N ow the cry of the people of Israel has come to Me. I have seen what power the Egyptians use to make it hard for them.

El clamor, pues, de los hijos de Israel ha llegado ante mí, y también he visto la opresión con que los egipcios los oprimen.

10 N ow come, and I will send you to Pharaoh so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.”

Ven, por tanto, ahora, y te enviaré al faraón para que saques de Egipto a mi pueblo, a los hijos de Israel.

11 B ut Moses said to God, “Who am I to go to Pharaoh and bring the people of Israel out of Egypt?”

Entonces Moisés respondió a Dios: —¿Quién soy yo para que vaya al faraón y saque de Egipto a los hijos de Israel?

12 G od said, “But I will be with you. And this will be something special for you to see to know that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this mountain.”

Dios le respondió: —Yo estaré contigo; y esto te será por señal de que yo te he enviado: cuando hayas sacado de Egipto al pueblo, serviréis a Dios sobre este monte.

13 T hen Moses said to God, “See, I am going to the people of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they might say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What should I say to them?”

Dijo Moisés a Dios: —Si voy a los hijos de Israel y les digo: “Jehová, el Dios de vuestros padres, me ha enviado a vosotros”, me preguntarán: “¿Cuál es su nombre?” Entonces ¿qué les responderé?

14 A nd God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Say to the Israelites, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

Respondió Dios a Moisés: —“Yo soy el que soy.” Y añadió: —Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: “‘Yo soy’ me envió a vosotros.”

15 A gain He said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever. By this name I am to be remembered by all people for all time.

Además, Dios dijo a Moisés: —Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: “Jehová, el Dios de vuestros padres, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob, me ha enviado a vosotros.” Éste es mi nombre para siempre; con él se me recordará por todos los siglos.

16 G o and gather together the leaders of Israel. Say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has shown Himself to me. And He said, “I have visited you and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt.

Ve, reúne a los ancianos de Israel y diles: “Jehová, el Dios de vuestros padres, el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob, se me apareció y me dijo: En verdad os he visitado y he visto lo que se os hace en Egipto.

17 I promise to bring you out of the suffering of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.’”

Y he dicho: Yo os sacaré de la aflicción de Egipto a la tierra del cananeo, del heteo, del amorreo, del ferezeo, del heveo y del jebuseo, a una tierra que fluye leche y miel.”

18 T hey will listen to what you say. Then you and the leaders of Israel will go to the king of Egypt and say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. So now we ask you to let us travel three days to the desert to give gifts on an altar in worship to the Lord our God.’

Ellos oirán tu voz; tú irás con los ancianos de Israel al rey de Egipto y le dirás: “Jehová, el Dios de los hebreos, se nos ha manifestado; por tanto, nosotros iremos ahora tres días de camino por el desierto a ofrecer sacrificios a Jehová, nuestro Dios.”

19 B ut I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go, except by a powerful hand.

Yo sé que el rey de Egipto no os dejará ir sino por la fuerza.

20 S o I will put out My hand and trouble Egypt with all the powerful works I will do there. After that he will let you go.

Pero yo extenderé mi mano y heriré a Egipto con todas las maravillas que obraré en el país, y entonces os dejará ir.

21 A nd I will give these people favor in the eyes of the Egyptians. When you go, you will not go empty handed.

Yo haré que este pueblo halle gracia a los ojos de los egipcios, para que cuando salgáis no vayáis con las manos vacías,

22 B ut each woman will get from her neighbor and the woman who lives in her house, things made of silver and gold, and clothes that you will put on your sons and daughters. You will take the best of things from the Egyptians.”

sino que cada mujer pedirá a su vecina, y a la que se hospeda en su casa, alhajas de plata, alhajas de oro y vestidos, los cuales pondréis sobre vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas. Así despojaréis a los egipcios.
