1 N ow Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had brought back to life. He said, “Get ready and go with those of your house. Stay in whatever country you can. For the Lord has called for a time of no food. It will come upon the land for seven years.”

Habló Eliseo con aquella mujer a cuyo hijo él había revivido, y le dijo: «Levántate, vete tú y toda tu casa a vivir donde puedas, porque Jehová ha llamado al hambre, la cual vendrá sobre la tierra por siete años.»

2 S o the woman got ready as the man of God had told her. She went with those of her house and stayed in the land of the Philistines seven years.

Entonces la mujer se levantó e hizo como el varón de Dios le dijo: ella y su familia se fueron a vivir durante siete años a tierra de los filisteos.

3 A t the end of seven years she returned from the land of the Philistines. And she went out to ask the king for her house and field.

Cuando pasaron los siete años, la mujer volvió de la tierra de los filisteos, y fue a implorar al rey por su casa y por sus tierras.

4 N ow the king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, “Tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”

El rey estaba hablando con Giezi, criado del varón de Dios, y le decía: «Te ruego que me cuentes todas las maravillas que ha hecho Eliseo.»

5 G ehazi started telling the king how Elisha had brought the one who was dead to life again. Then the woman whose son he had brought back to life asked the king for her house and field. And Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman and this is her son, whom Elisha brought back to life.”

Y mientras Giezi le contaba al rey cómo había revivido a un muerto, llegó la mujer a cuyo hijo él había revivido, para implorar al rey por su casa y por sus tierras. Entonces dijo Giezi: «Rey y señor mío, ésta es la mujer y éste es su hijo, al cual Eliseo revivió.»

6 W hen the king asked the woman, she told him what had happened. So the king chose a certain captain to help her, saying, “Give her all that was hers. And give her all the food taken from the field from the day she left the land until now.” The Death of Ben-hadad

El rey preguntó a la mujer y ella se lo contó. Entonces el rey le ordenó a un oficial: «Haz que le devuelvan todas las cosas que eran suyas y todos los frutos de sus tierras, desde el día que dejó el país hasta ahora.» Ben-adad y Hazael

7 T hen Elisha came to Damascus. Ben-hadad the king of Syria was sick, and he was told, “The man of God has come here.”

Luego Eliseo se fue a Damasco. Ben-adad, rey de Siria, estaba enfermo, y le avisaron: «El varón de Dios ha venido aquí.»

8 T he king said to Hazael, “Take a gift and go meet the man of God. Ask the Lord through him, saying, ‘Will I get better from this sickness?’”

Entonces el rey dijo a Hazael: «Toma en tus manos un presente, ve a recibir al varón de Dios y consulta por medio de él a Jehová, preguntando: “¿Sanaré de esta enfermedad?”»

9 S o Hazael went to meet Elisha and took with him a gift of every kind of good thing of Damascus. It took forty camels to carry it all. He came and stood in front of Elisha and said, “Your son Ben-hadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I get better from this sickness?’”

Tomó, pues, Hazael en sus manos un presente de entre los bienes de Damasco, cargados en cuarenta camellos, y fue a su encuentro. Al llegar, se detuvo ante él y le dijo: —Tu hijo Ben-adad, rey de Siria, me ha enviado a preguntarte: “¿Sanaré de esta enfermedad?”

10 E lisha said to him, “Go and tell him, ‘You will get better for sure.’ But the Lord has shown me that he will die for sure.”

Eliseo le dijo: —Ve y dile: “Seguramente sanarás.” Sin embargo, Jehová me ha revelado que ciertamente morirá.

11 T hen Elisha looked at Hazael until he was ashamed. And the man of God cried.

El varón de Dios lo miró fijamente y estuvo así hasta hacer que se ruborizara. Luego el varón de Dios se echó a llorar.

12 H azael said, “Why are you crying, my lord?” Then Elisha answered, “Because I know the bad things that you will do to the people of Israel. You will set their strong places on fire. You will kill their young men with the sword. You will crush their little ones against the stones. And you will cut up their women who are with child.”

Entonces Hazael le preguntó: —¿Por qué llora mi señor? Él respondió: —Porque sé el mal que vas a hacer a los hijos de Israel: Pegarás fuego a sus fortalezas, a sus jóvenes matarás a espada, estrellarás a sus niños y abrirás el vientre a las mujeres que estén encintas.

13 H azael said, “What is your servant, only a dog, that he should do this bad thing?” Elisha answered, “The Lord has shown me that you will be the king of Syria.”

Hazael dijo: —Pues, ¿qué es tu siervo, este perro, para que haga tan grandes cosas? Eliseo respondió: —Jehová me ha revelado que tú serás rey de Siria.

14 T hen he left Elisha and returned to his owner. Ben-hadad said to him, “What did Elisha tell you?” And Hazael answered, “He told me that you will get better for sure.”

Hazael se fue y se presentó ante su señor, el cual le preguntó: —¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo? Él respondió: —Me dijo que seguramente sanarás.

15 B ut the next day Hazael took the bed covering and put it in water. Then he spread it on Ben-hadad’s face so that he died. And Hazael became king in his place. Jehoram Rules Judah

Pero al día siguiente tomó un paño, lo metió en agua y lo puso sobre el rostro de Ben-adad, el cual murió. En su lugar reinó Hazael. Reinado de Joram de Judá

16 I n the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to rule.

En el quinto año de Joram hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Joram hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá. Hasta entonces Josafat había sido rey de Judá.

17 H e was thirty-two years old when he became king. He ruled eight years in Jerusalem.

Tenía Joram treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.

18 H e walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as those of Ahab’s house had done. Ahab’s daughter became his wife. He did what was sinful in the eyes of the Lord.

19 B ut the Lord was not willing to destroy Judah, because of His servant David. The Lord had promised to give David one to rule through his sons always.

20 I n his days Edom turned against the rule of Judah and chose a king of their own.

En tiempos de Joram se rebeló Edom contra el dominio de Judá y proclamaron su propio rey.

21 T hen Joram crossed over to Zair, with all his war-wagons. He and his war-wagon captains got up during the night and fought against the Edomites who had gathered around them. But his army ran away to their tents.

Joram, con todos sus carros, pasó por tanto a Zair. Se levantó por la noche y atacó a los de Edom, los cuales lo habían sitiado junto con los capitanes de los carros, pero el pueblo huyó a sus tiendas.

22 S o Edom turned against the rule of Judah to this day. Libnah turned against Judah’s rule at the same time.

No obstante, Edom se liberó del dominio de Judá, hasta hoy. En aquel tiempo también se rebeló Libna.

23 T he rest of the acts of Joram and all he did, are they not written in the Book of Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

24 T hen Joram died and was buried in the city of David. His son Ahaziah became king in his place. Ahaziah Rules Judah

29 S o King Joram returned to Jezreel to be healed of the cuts the Syrians had given him at Ramah when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Then Jehoram’s son Ahaziah king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram the son of Ahab because he was sick.

El rey Joram regresó a Jezreel para curarse de las heridas que los sirios le hicieron frente a Ramot, cuando peleaba contra Hazael, rey de Siria. Como Joram hijo de Acab estaba enfermo, Ocozías hijo de Joram, rey de Judá, descendió a visitarlo en Jezreel.
