1 T hen Moses and the leaders of Israel said to the people, “Keep all the Laws which I tell you today.

Moisés y los ancianos de Israel dijeron al pueblo: «Guardaréis todos los mandamientos que yo os prescribo hoy.

2 O n the day you cross the Jordan to the land the Lord your God gives you, set up large stones and cover them with plaster.

El día que pases el Jordán para entrar a la tierra que Jehová, tu Dios, te da, levantarás piedras grandes, las revocarás con cal

3 W rite on them all the words of this Law when you cross the river and go into the land the Lord your God gives you. It is a land flowing with milk and honey, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, promised you.

y escribirás en ellas todas las palabras de esta Ley, en cuanto hayas pasado para entrar en la tierra que Jehová, tu Dios, te da, tierra que fluye leche y miel, como Jehová, el Dios de tus padres, te ha dicho.

4 W hen you cross the Jordan, set up these stones on Mount Ebal and cover them with plaster, as I tell you today.

Cuando, pues, hayas pasado el Jordán, levantarás estas piedras que yo os mando hoy, en el monte Ebal, las revocarás con cal

5 B uild an altar of stones there to the Lord your God. Do not work on them with an iron tool.

y edificarás allí un altar a Jehová, tu Dios, un altar de piedras; no las labrarás con instrumentos de hierro.

6 A nd build the altar of the Lord your God with stones that are not cut. Then give a burnt gift on it to the Lord your God.

De piedras enteras edificarás el altar de Jehová, tu Dios, y ofrecerás sobre él un holocausto a Jehová, tu Dios.

7 G ive peace gifts and eat there. And be full of joy before the Lord your God.

Sacrificarás ofrendas de paz, comerás allí y te alegrarás delante de Jehová, tu Dios.

8 W rite all the words of this Law on the stones. Make it easy to read.” What Happens to Those Who Do Not Obey

Y escribirás muy claramente en las piedras todas las palabras de esta Ley.»

9 T hen Moses and the Levite religious leaders said to all Israel, “Be quiet and listen, O Israel! This day you have become the people of the Lord your God.

Después Moisés, junto con los sacerdotes levitas, habló a todo Israel y dijo: «Guarda silencio y escucha, Israel. Hoy has pasado a ser el pueblo de Jehová, tu Dios.

10 S o obey the Lord your God. Keep all of His Laws which I tell you today.”

Oirás, pues, la voz de Jehová, tu Dios, y cumplirás sus mandamientos y sus estatutos que yo te ordeno hoy.» Las maldiciones en el monte Ebal

11 M oses told the people that same day,

Aquel día Moisés ordenó al pueblo:

12 “ Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph and Benjamin will stand on Mount Gerizim when you cross the Jordan. They will pray that good will come to the people.

«Cuando hayas pasado el Jordán, estos estarán sobre el monte Gerizim para bendecir al pueblo: Simeón, Leví, Judá, Isacar, José y Benjamín.

13 A nd Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan and Naphtali will stand on Mount Ebal to tell of the curses.

Y estos estarán sobre el monte Ebal para pronunciar la maldición: Rubén, Gad, Aser, Zabulón, Dan y Neftalí.

14 T he Levites will say with a loud voice to all the people of Israel:

Hablarán los levitas y dirán a todo hombre de Israel en alta voz:

15 ‘ Cursed is every man who makes a god or something to look like a god, the work of the hands of the able workman, and sets it up in secret. It is hated by the Lord.’ Then all the people will answer, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el hombre que haga una escultura o una imagen de fundición, cosa abominable para Jehová, obra de manos de artífice, y la ponga en lugar oculto.” Y todo el pueblo responderá: “Amén”.

16 ‘ Cursed is the one who puts his father or mother to shame.’ And all the people will say, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el que deshonre a su padre o a su madre.” Y dirá todo el pueblo: “Amén”.

17 ‘ Cursed is the man who moves his neighbor’s land-mark.’ And all the people will say, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el que desplace el límite de su prójimo.” Y dirá todo el pueblo: “Amén”.

18 ‘ Cursed is the one who leads a blind person on the road the wrong way.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el que haga errar al ciego en el camino.” Y dirá todo el pueblo: “Amén”.

19 ‘ Cursed is the one who is not fair to a stranger, a child whose parents have died, and the woman whose husband has died.’ And all the people will say, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el que pervierta el derecho del extranjero, del huérfano y de la viuda.” Y dirá todo el pueblo: “Amén”.

20 ‘ Cursed is the man who lies with his father’s wife because he has taken off the clothes of her who belongs to his father.’ And all the people will say, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el que se acueste con la mujer de su padre, por cuanto descubrió el regazo de su padre.” Y dirá todo el pueblo: “Amén”.

21 ‘ Cursed is the man who lies with any animal.’ And all the people will say, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el que se ayunte con cualquier bestia.” Y dirá todo el pueblo: “Amén”.

22 ‘ Cursed is the man who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father or mother.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el que se acueste con su hermana, la hija de su padre o de su madre.” Y dirá todo el pueblo: “Amén”.

23 ‘ Cursed is the man who lies with his mother-in-law.’ And all the people will say, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el que se acueste con su suegra.” Y dirá todo el pueblo: “Amén”.

24 ‘ Cursed is the one who hits his neighbor in secret.’ And all the people will say, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el que mate a su prójimo ocultamente.” Y dirá todo el pueblo: “Amén”.

25 ‘ Cursed is the one who receives pay to kill a person who is not guilty.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el que reciba soborno para quitar la vida a un inocente.” Y dirá todo el pueblo: “Amén”.

26 ‘ Cursed is the one who does not obey the words of this Law.’ And all the people will say, ‘Let it be so.’

»“Maldito el que no confirme las palabras de esta Ley para cumplirlas.” Y dirá todo el pueblo: “Amén”.
