1 “ At the end of every seven years you must do away with debts that are owed.

»Cada siete años harás remisión.

2 T his is the way you are to do it: Every man who has loaned money must forget the debt. He cannot make his neighbor and his brother pay it because the Lord has said that all should be forgotten.

»En esto consiste la remisión: perdonará a su deudor todo aquel que haya prestado algo de su pertenencia, con lo cual obligó a su prójimo; no lo demandará más a su prójimo, o a su hermano, porque ha sido proclamada la remisión de Jehová.

3 Y ou may make a stranger pay what he owes, but not your brother.

Del extranjero demandarás el reintegro; pero lo que tu hermano tenga de ti, se lo perdonarás.

4 Y et there will be no poor among you for the Lord will be sure to bring good to you in the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.

Así no habrá mendigos entre los tuyos, pues Jehová te bendecirá con abundancia en la tierra que Jehová, tu Dios, te da por heredad, para que la tomes en posesión,

5 B ut you must listen and obey the voice of the Lord your God. Be careful to do all the Law which I am telling you today.

si escuchas fielmente la voz de Jehová, tu Dios, para guardar y cumplir todos estos mandamientos que yo te ordeno hoy.

6 T he Lord your God will bring good to you as He has promised. You will let many nations use what belongs to you but you will not use what belongs to them. You will rule over many nations but they will not rule over you.

Ya que Jehová, tu Dios, te habrá bendecido, como te ha dicho, prestarás entonces a muchas naciones, pero tú no tomarás prestado; tendrás dominio sobre muchas naciones, pero sobre ti no tendrán dominio. Préstamos a los pobres

7 “ In any of the towns in your land the Lord your God is giving you, if there is anyone poor among you, do not let your heart be hard and not be willing to help him.

»Cuando haya algún pobre entre tus hermanos en alguna de tus ciudades, en la tierra que Jehová, tu Dios, te da, no endurecerás tu corazón ni le cerrarás tu mano a tu hermano pobre,

8 B e free to give to him. Let him use what is yours of anything he needs.

sino que le abrirás tu mano liberalmente y le prestarás lo que en efecto necesite.

9 B e careful that there is no sinful thought in your heart, saying, ‘It is almost the seventh year, the time to do away with the debt owed to me,’ so you look on your brother with hate and give him nothing. Then he may cry to the Lord against you and you may be guilty of sin.

Guárdate de albergar en tu corazón este pensamiento perverso: “Cerca está el séptimo año, el de la remisión”, para mirar con malos ojos a tu hermano pobre y no darle nada, pues él podría clamar contra ti a Jehová, y se te contaría como pecado.

10 G ive much to him, without being sorry that you do. Because the Lord your God will bring good to you for this, in all your work and in everything you do.

Sin falta le darás, y no serás de mezquino corazón cuando le des, porque por ello te bendecirá Jehová, tu Dios, en todas tus obras y en todo lo que emprendas.

11 T he poor will always be in the land. So I tell you to be free in giving to your brother, to those in need, and to the poor in your land.

Pues nunca faltarán pobres en medio de la tierra; por eso yo te mando: Abrirás tu mano a tu hermano, al pobre y al menesteroso en tu tierra. Leyes sobre los esclavos

12 “ If your brother, a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you, he will work for you six years. But you must set him free in the seventh year.

»Si se vende a ti tu hermano hebreo o hebrea, te servirá seis años, y al séptimo le dejarás libre.

13 W hen you set him free, do not send him away with nothing.

Y cuando lo dejes libre, no lo enviarás con las manos vacías.

14 G ive him much from your flock, from your grain, and from your wine. Give to him as the Lord your God has given to you.

Lo abastecerás liberalmente de tus ovejas, de tu era y de tu lagar; le darás de aquello con que Jehová te haya bendecido.

15 R emember that you were servants in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God set you free. And so I am telling you today to do this.

Te acordarás de que fuiste siervo en la tierra de Egipto, y que Jehová, tu Dios, te rescató; por eso yo te mando esto hoy.

16 B ut he may say to you, ‘I will not leave you,’ because he loves you and those of your house and gets along well with you.

»Pero si él te dice: “No te dejaré”, porque te ama a ti y a tu casa, y porque le va bien contigo,

17 T hen take a sharp tool and put it through his ear into the door. And he will be your servant forever. Do the same with your woman servant.

entonces tomarás una lesna y horadarás su oreja contra la puerta, y será tu siervo para siempre. Así también harás con tu criada.

18 I t should not be hard for you to set him free for he has worked for you six years. He has been worth twice as much as a man paid to work for you. The Lord your God will bring good to you in whatever you do.

No te parezca duro cuando lo dejes libre, pues por la mitad del costo de un jornalero te sirvió seis años. Y Jehová, tu Dios, te bendecirá en todo cuanto hagas. Consagración de los primogénitos machos

19 “ Set apart for the Lord your God all the first-born males among your cattle and your flock. Do no work with the first-born of your cattle. Do not cut the wool from the first-born of your flock.

»Consagrarás a Jehová, tu Dios, todo primogénito macho de tus vacas y de tus ovejas. »No te servirás del primogénito de tus vacas ni trasquilarás al primogénito de tus ovejas.

20 Y ou and those of your house will eat it every year before the Lord your God in the place the Lord chooses.

Delante de Jehová, tu Dios, los comerás cada año, tú y tu familia, en el lugar que Jehová escoja.

21 B ut do not kill it and give it to the Lord your God if it is not perfect, such as not being able to walk or see, or anything else wrong with it.

Pero si tiene algún defecto, si es ciego, o cojo, o tiene cualquier otra falta, no lo sacrificarás a Jehová, tu Dios.

22 E at it within your towns. Both the clean and the unclean may eat it, as if it were a gazelle or deer.

En tus poblaciones lo comerás; lo mismo el impuro que el limpio lo comerán, como si fuera una gacela o un ciervo.

23 B ut do not eat its blood. You must pour it out on the ground like water.

Solamente que no comas su sangre; sobre la tierra la derramarás como si fuera agua.
