1 N ow Elisha the man of God called one of the sons of those who spoke for God. He said to him, “Get ready to travel. Take this jar of oil and go to Ramoth-gilead.

Entonces el profeta Eliseo llamó a uno de los hijos de los profetas y le dijo: «Ciñe tu cintura, toma esta redoma de aceite en tus manos y ve a Ramot de Galaad.

2 W hen you get there, find Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi. Go in and have him come away from his brothers. Bring him into a room in the house.

Cuando llegues allá, verás allí a Jehú hijo de Josafat hijo de Nimsi. Entra, haz que se levante de entre sus hermanos y llévalo a otra habitación.

3 T hen take the jar of oil and pour it on his head and say, ‘The Lord says, “I have chosen you to be the king of Israel.”’ Then open the door and run. Do not wait.”

Toma luego la redoma de aceite, derrámala sobre su cabeza y di: “Así dice Jehová: Yo te he ungido como rey de Israel.” Entonces abre la puerta y echa a correr sin detenerte.»

4 S o the young servant of the man of God went to Ramoth-gilead.

Partió, pues, el joven profeta hacia Ramot de Galaad.

5 W hen he came, he found the captains of the army sitting there. He said, “I have something to tell you, O captain.” And Jehu said, “Which one of us?” And he said, “You, O captain.”

Cuando llegó, los jefes del ejército estaban reunidos. Entonces dijo: —Jefe, tengo que decirte una palabra. —¿A cuál de todos nosotros? —preguntó Jehú. —A ti, jefe —respondió el profeta.

6 S o he got up and went into the house. He poured the oil on Jehu’s head and said to him, “The Lord, the God of Israel, says, ‘I have chosen you king over the people of the Lord, over Israel.

Jehú se levantó y entró en la casa. Entonces el otro derramó el aceite sobre su cabeza y le dijo: —Así dijo Jehová, Dios de Israel: “Yo te he ungido como rey del pueblo de Jehová, de Israel.

7 Y ou are to destroy the house of your owner Ahab, so that I will punish Jezebel for the blood of My servants who speak for God, and the blood of all the Lord’s servants.

Herirás la casa de Acab, tu señor, para que yo vengue la sangre de mis siervos los profetas y la sangre de todos los siervos de Jehová, derramada por la mano de Jezabel.

8 T he whole family of Ahab must be destroyed. And I will destroy every male person in Israel who belongs to Ahab, both the servants and those who are free.

Toda la casa de Acab perecerá y exterminaré a todo varón de Acab en Israel, tanto al siervo como al libre.

9 I will make the family of Ahab like the family of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the family of Baasha the son of Ahijah.

Trataré a la casa de Acab como a la casa de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat y como a la casa de Baasa hijo de Ahías.

10 T he dogs will eat Jezebel in the land of Jezreel. No one will bury her.’” Then he opened the door and ran away.

A Jezabel se la comerán los perros en el campo de Jezreel y no habrá quien la sepulte.” En seguida abrió la puerta y echó a correr.

11 W hen Jehu came out to his owner’s servants, one said to him, “Is all well? Why did this crazy person come to you?” Jehu said, “You know the man and his talk.”

Cuando Jehú salió a reunirse con los siervos de su señor, estos le dijeron: —¿Todo va bien? ¿Para qué vino a verte ese loco? —Vosotros conocéis a ese hombre y lo que dijo —respondió él.

12 A nd they said, “That is not true. Tell us now.” Jehu said, “This is how he spoke to me. He said, ‘The Lord says, “I have chosen you to be the king of Israel.”’”

—Mentira; cuéntanoslo ahora —dijeron ellos. Jehú respondió: —Esto y esto me ha hablado: “Así ha dicho Jehová: ‘Yo te he ungido como rey de Israel.’”

13 T hen each man took his clothes in a hurry and put them under him on the steps. And they sounded the horn and said, “Jehu is king!” Joram of Israel Is Killed

Entonces cada uno tomó apresuradamente su manto y lo puso debajo de Jehú en un trono alto. Luego tocaron la bocina y gritaron: «Jehú es el rey.» Jehú mata a Joram

14 S o Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi made plans against Joram. Now Joram and all Israel were fighting against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth-gilead.

Así conspiró Jehú hijo de Josafat hijo de Nimsi, contra Joram. (Estaba entonces Joram defendiendo a Ramot de Galaad con todo Israel, a causa de Hazael, rey de Siria.

15 B ut King Joram had returned to Jezreel to be healed of the cuts the Syrians had given him, when he fought with King Hazael of Syria. So Jehu said, “If this is what you have in mind, then let no one get out of the city to tell the news in Jezreel.”

16 T hen Jehu went to Jezreel in a war-wagon, for Joram was lying there. And Ahaziah the king of Judah had come down to see Joram.

Jehú cabalgó entonces y se fue a Jezreel, porque Joram estaba allí enfermo. También estaba allí Ocozías, rey de Judá, que había descendido a visitar a Joram.

17 N ow the man who watched for danger was standing in the tower in Jezreel. He saw the group of Jehu’s men coming, and said, “I see a group of men coming.” Joram said, “Send a horseman to meet them and ask, ‘Do you come in peace?’”

El atalaya que estaba en la torre de Jezreel vio la tropa de Jehú que venía, y dijo: —Veo una tropa. Joram dijo: —Ordena a un jinete que vaya a reconocerlos y les pregunte: “¿Vienen en son de paz?”

18 S o a horseman went to meet him and said, “The king asks, ‘Do you come in peace?’” And Jehu said, “What have you to do with peace? Get behind me.” Then the watchman told Joram, “The horseman came to them, but he did not return.”

Fue, pues, el jinete a reconocerlos y les preguntó: —El rey dice: “¿Vienen en son de paz?” Jehú le dijo: —¿Qué tienes tú que ver con la paz? Ponte detrás de mí. Luego el atalaya avisó diciendo: —El mensajero llegó hasta ellos, pero no vuelve.

19 S o he sent out a second horseman, who came to them and said, “The king asks, ‘Do you come in peace?’” And Jehu answered, “What have you to do with peace? Get behind me.”

Entonces el rey envió otro jinete, que al llegar adonde estaban ellos, dijo: —El rey dice así: “¿Vienen en son de paz?” Y Jehú respondió: —¿Qué tienes tú que ver con la paz? Ponte detrás de mí.

20 T he watchman told Joram, “He came to them, and he did not return. The leader goes in his war-wagon like a mad man, just like Jehu.”

El atalaya volvió a decir: —También éste llegó hasta ellos, pero no vuelve, y el marchar del que viene es como el marchar de Jehú hijo de Nimsi, pues viene impetuosamente.

21 T hen Joram said, “Get ready.” And they made his war-wagon ready. Then Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in their war-wagon, to meet Jehu. They found him in the field of Naboth the Jezreelite.

Entonces dijo Joram: —Unce el carro. Cuando estaba uncido su carro, salieron Joram, rey de Israel, y Ocozías, rey de Judá, cada uno en su carro, y partieron al encuentro de Jehú, al cual hallaron en la heredad de Nabot, el de Jezreel.

22 W hen Joram saw Jehu, he said, “Do you come in peace, Jehu?” And he answered, “What peace can there be, so long as the sinful ways and witchcrafts of your mother Jezebel are so many?”

Cuando vio Joram a Jehú, dijo: —¿Vienes en son paz, Jehú? Él respondió: —¿Qué paz puede haber con las fornicaciones de Jezabel, tu madre, y sus muchas hechicerías?

23 S o Joram turned the horses around and ran away, saying to Ahaziah, “He is turning against the king, O Ahaziah!”

Entonces Joram volvió las riendas y huyó, mientras le gritaba a Ocozías: —¡Traición, Ocozías!

24 J ehu pulled his bow with all his strength and shot Joram between his arms. The arrow went through his heart, and he fell in his war-wagon.

Pero Jehú tensó su arco e hirió a Joram por la espalda; la flecha le atravesó el corazón y él cayó en su carro.

25 T hen Jehu said to Bidkar his captain, “Pick him up and throw him into the field of Naboth the Jezreelite. For I remember when you and I were going together after his father Ahab. The Lord said then that this would happen to him.

Dijo luego Jehú a Bidcar, su capitán: «Levántalo y échalo a un extremo de la heredad de Nabot, el de Jezreel. Acuérdate que cuando tú y yo íbamos juntos con la gente de Acab, su padre, Jehová pronunció esta sentencia sobre él:

26 T he Lord said, ‘Yesterday I have seen the blood of Naboth and his sons. I will punish you in this field.’ So now take and throw him into the field, as the word of the Lord has said.” Ahaziah of Judah Is Killed

“Yo he visto ayer la sangre de Nabot y la sangre de sus hijos, dijo Jehová, y en esta misma heredad te daré tu paga, dijo Jehová.” Levántalo pues, ahora, y échalo en la heredad de Nabot, conforme a la palabra de Jehová.» Jehú mata a Ocozías

27 W hen Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he ran away toward the garden house. Jehu went after him and said, “Shoot him in the war-wagon also.” So they shot him at the hill of Gur, by Ibleam. But he got away to Megiddo and died there.

Al ver esto Ocozías, rey de Judá, huyó por el camino de la casa del huerto. Pero Jehú lo persiguió diciendo: «Herid también a este que va en el carro.» Lo hirieron a la subida de Gur, junto a Ibleam. Pero Ocozías huyó a Meguido, y allí murió.

28 H is servants carried him in a war-wagon to Jerusalem. They buried him in his grave with his fathers in the city of David.

Sus siervos lo llevaron en un carro a Jerusalén y allá lo sepultaron con sus padres, en su sepulcro de la ciudad de David.

29 I n the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab, Ahaziah became the king of Judah. Queen Jezebel Is Killed

En el undécimo año de Joram hijo de Acab comenzó a reinar Ocozías sobre Judá. Muerte de Jezabel

30 W hen Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard about it. She colored her eyes and combed her hair, and then looked out the window.

Después se fue Jehú a Jezreel. Al enterarse Jezabel, se pintó los ojos con antimonio, atavió su cabeza y se asomó a una ventana.

31 A s Jehu came through the gate, she said, “Is it well, Zimri, your owner’s killer?”

Y cuando entraba Jehú por la puerta, ella dijo: —¿Todo le va bien a Zimri, asesino de su señor?

32 T hen he looked up to the window and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” And two or three men looked down at him.

Alzó él entonces su rostro hacia la ventana y dijo: —¿Quién está conmigo? ¿quién? Se inclinaron hacia él dos o tres eunucos.

33 T hen he said, “Throw her down.” So they threw Jezebel down. Some of her blood went on the wall and on the horses. And Jehu made his war-wagons go over her.

Y Jehú les ordenó: —Echadla abajo. Ellos la echaron, y parte de su sangre salpicó la pared y los caballos. Y él la atropelló.

34 T hen Jehu went in and ate and drank. And he said, “Now go out to this sinful woman and bury her, for she is a king’s daughter.”

Entró luego Jehú, y después que comió y bebió, dijo: —Id ahora a ver a aquella maldita y sepultadla, pues es hija de rey.

35 S o they went to bury her. But all they found were her skull and feet and hands.

Pero cuando fueron a sepultarla no hallaron de ella más que la calavera, los pies y las palmas de las manos.

36 W hen they returned and told Jehu, he said, “This is the word of the Lord, which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite. He said, ‘In the land of Jezreel the dogs will eat the flesh of Jezebel.

Entonces regresaron a comunicárselo. Y él dijo: —Ésta es la palabra que Dios pronunció por medio de su siervo Elías, el tisbita: “En la heredad de Jezreel se comerán los perros las carnes de Jezabel.

37 J ezebel’s body will be as waste on the field in the land of Jezreel. So no one will be able to say, “This is Jezebel.”’”

El cuerpo de Jezabel será como estiércol sobre la superficie del campo en la heredad de Jezreel, de manera que nadie pueda decir: ‘Ésta es Jezabel.’”
